Jesse had been very abused by some very nasty humans - she is learning to trust - learning to have fun - learning to be part of a family as opposed to being a pack animal. I want her to have that chance before we bring another dog in the home. I think we will wait and probably adopt a rescue Golden at some time - but right now it's Jesse's time - time she was never given for the first three years of her life.
I really love this thread. I look forward to each new post. I think that all our pets look so good on here. Keep it up and post updated photos as well.
Here is my heartdog and my treasure: C-ATCH, U-GRACH Rosebud's Augusta Rae's Creek, ChST, ChJU, ChFH, ChJK, ChCL, ChSN, ChWC, MX, AXJ, CGC (Just plain 'Gusta to her friends--LOL)--doing the thing that we both love best on Sunday.
Love the pics of Zappa! It looks like he goes more places than I do! He's gorgeous! Is he an agility fanatic too? You really found a prize when you rescued him. I can only guess at why someone would give up such a beautiful dog. It's a shame that people have no clue of what they're in for when they get certain breeds, Labs among them.

Ha! Oddly enough, I somehow got a /lazy/ border collie! No interest what so ever in agility, flyball, sheep... heck, he won't even play fetch! But he loves being out on the trail, so we go on a lot of hikes.
He's the best, though... sweetest little thing, just a big cuddler. Poor boy had never been inside a house though when he came into rescue, he was underweight, headshy, and afraid of everything (the toaster, the dvd player, ceiling fans...)... he's made great improvements, though! I feel incredibly lucky to have him in my life!
Wow! Do you think it's because nobody took time to do it with him when he was younger? I knew some dogs that that's happened to. I'm sure he's still got great herding instincts, but maybe he just doesn't know how to "play".
