Photographing Pets

cc1075, I am sorry to hear about Skilly. :grouphug: She is beautiful. Drag too lost his life from Bone Cancer in his left leg. He went down quick. It was about five weeks from the time that my DH & I noticed him limping.

We discovered Skilly's cancer in June - - - I made a mistake in the last post - we had Skilly and Mac her brother since they were 8 weeks old - not 8 years. Mac died at 8 and Skilly at 12.

And now the rest of the story - when Skilly got sick we started Chemo - she went into total remission - the vet urged me to get her another dog and even went so far to find - the lovely Jesse. Jesse gave Skilly six months of fun - running after sticks, balls, etc. etc. Skilly went from a sick 12 to a romping 8 years old - it was beautiful. So today we have Jesse, a very loving dog who is so happy to be here. She had been a the Humane Society for about a year!!

Her name is Jesse ( but I call her Goofy) She loves us and we love her - not just for her but for all the healing she brought to our home!

My pictures are too bad to post here, but I hope to learn from you guys!

I would also like to give my condolences to those that have lost their pets. Reading these past few stories brought tears to my eyes. I know the love of a Golden and it's something that I dread not having in my life.

My DH & I got Drag when he was 6 weeks old and he lived to be 13 yo. When we took Drag to the Vet the vet told us that we had three choices to make. We could either give him chemo, amputate or you can guess the other option. The Vet said that you do have to think about his quality of life and then decide. We knew that he could not handle the Chemo because of his age. We also knew that we did not want to amputate his leg because he already could not walk very well on his hind legs due to old age. Three weeks later we knew what we had to do. He stopped eating and then gave us that "look". The look of mommy & daddy I am ready. Then we know what we had to do. We knew that it would be better for him, however totally not for us but we loved him very much and wanted what would be best for him. We are waiting for the day to see him again.

Tell me - - is that photo of your dog with the four balls in his mouth - -- Yea!! My Mac could do that - but he could get them way back in his mouth and when you told him to "drop it" - - out they would come - one at a time - it was hilarious - - - - Wow - that photo sent me a great memory! Thanks!!

No, someone with more talent (both the photographer and the dog!) took that. I think Chloe would be too scared to even try doing that.

Took my DS son and his dog to PetCo on Saturday to have her picture taken with Santa, all the money went to local animal shelters, I didn't take this, had my camera but they wouldn't let me take any :confused3 , oh well.

dcg, awesome picture with Santa! I never made it down there to have one done with my dog this year.

AITY, come on, I'm sure you have a nice picture of Chloe somewhere (like the one in your signature). ;) Have you decided to get the S5?

Noooo... they're pretty bad. Even the one in my signature is washed out.

I did order my camera and according to FedEx's website, it should be here Friday!

Chloe will probably run when she sees me coming, by the end of the weekend. :rolleyes1

DCLLVR, I love that photo! The colors are so brilliant! You're lucky to have fall foliage like that.

Thanks! We live just north of Atlanta GA ... not exactly the fall colors capitol of the world ... but we had pretty good colors this year, maybe because it was so dry this summer.

best picture she has let me get of her in 7 yrs!!

Thank you Mischa!! We love her to death! She is just the sweetest girl! We had a male that we lost to bone cancer before we got Bea. They just have the best personality. She does such a good job putting up with Lucky who has no concept of his size!! Nice to hear others spread the good word about rotties! They are not always what you see in the movies and the news.

Okay, I'm sure there's more technically wrong with it than right, but here's my first photo of Chloe taken on my new Canon S5. It was taken on a whim, but I'm still so impressed by how clear the photo is.

She was on the couch, where she's not supposed to be, and she had that "darn, I'm busted" look on her face. She wouldn't look me in the eye. :rotfl:
