Photographing Pets

She was on the couch, where she's not supposed to be, and she had that "darn, I'm busted" look on her face. She wouldn't look me in the eye. :rotfl:

I love the shot! That was like the one of my cat and toilet paper I posted that I came across after he died. I try to encourage a friend to take pics of his dog when she does things.

DznyDreamz.. I agree about Rotties... they are wonderful dogs.

Okay, I'm sure there's more technically wrong with it than right, but here's my first photo of Chloe taken on my new Canon S5. It was taken on a whim, but I'm still so impressed by how clear the photo is.

OK - that photo did it - - - We lost our last golden in November and I really can't stand it - - we have the most wonderful coonhound, Jesse, but she is not a golden. The cats, Jesse, we all need a golden. I called the Golden rescue here and they have seven dogs - - - don't you all think it would be the best Christmas present ever for all of us ???? Even the Golden that does't know we are thinking about them yet ?? Come on folks - I need some support here - every house needs two dogs, right??

I say go for it!! Before we got Lucky (a scotty) we had "just" Bea. She was a happy girl, but was starting to show signs of being less playful and acting like the 6 year old that she is. Now that she has Lucky, it seems like it took years off of her and she is like a puppy again. They are best buds and are very happy to have each other. Sure, having 2 dogs isn't as easy as one, but it made our family happy. If you have it in you to rescue a dog, you should absolutely do it. (BTW - Bea was a rescue from a local shelter. She was about 6 mos old and had been picked up roaming the streets of Hartford. Her choke collar had grown into her skin and had to be cut away. Not only was she lucky to be rescued, we were lucky to get her).

I think you should go for it! I can't imagine my house without Chloe in it. If she wasn't so crotchety, I'd be getting another one yesterday.

I wish you could too! I'd be out there playing in it too! :yay:

Here's my Griffey enjoying the snow!

OK - - - - I showed my DH the photo of Chloe and said what do you think - he got this big grin on his face - - guess he misses the whole "i love you more than anything" Retriever look also!! Jesse is a great and wonderful dog - but she doesn't know how to be a retriever. We adopted her from the Humane Society this summer - best guess is she is three and loves us to death - but she is so used to having another dog - she is lonely!!

I want to see "my" retriever run in the snow again. Hey, you want a real challenge - - try making snow angels with a retriever - - - - not possible!! They are all over you - jumping - rolling - - they make a big mess of great art!!

Thanks again for all of the great photos!! :thumbsup2

I think I have posted this before - - but here they are - Skilly and Jesse

I have just found this thread and I've spent hours looking at everybody's beautiful pets! Here are my two, a Pembroke Welsh corgi named Griffin, and a Belgian Malinois named Zoe. The were our first children, before the human ones came along. Here they are:

All right, this is completely shameless and these photos have absolutely no photographic merit whatsoever. But since it's my thread I thought it would be ok to embarrass myself a little and take a chance and post them anyway.

This is a family of cats we found living under our shed three weeks ago in freezing weather. We trapped them using traps our animal control officer lent us. Mom at one time must have had a home as she was litter box trained and very friendly. I placed Found ads and posters in the neighborhood with no responses.

No kill shelters in our area are full, and foster homes are scarce, but I'm still trying to get them in one. In protecting her kitties, Mama cat was going after our dog which made it a stressful several days here until a friend of mine agreed to foster them for me until Christmas Eve when she has to go away. I did have an offer from a pet store to take all three but I wasn't sure that was the best way to go (thoughts on that welcome). I have never had cats before so this is all kind of new to me.

I took them to our vet to make sure there were no diseases and to increase their chances of being adopted. Mom is leukemia negative; all had worms and ear mites and were treated for those. All are female, kitties are estimated at around 9 weeks old (now, were around 6-7 weeks old when found); Mama around 2yo. We've been working on socializing the kitties and they've made progress, though they require time and patience and seem to do best with those who "know" cats.

Here they are, on the chances someone might be interested:

Welcome to the feral cat program. I have been doing that for years. Same as you we trap the strays - socialize them and put them out for adoption. Good news - only the kittens are feral. If the Mom is already social with you, she is not wild - just a throw-away from someone. Heart breaking for me when people do that. I have rescued over 20 litters so far, very rewarding!

And now for the bad news! It seems every litter has one that is unadoptable - so they are mine. Head count in my house at this time - as my DH would put it - nine "very friendly cats" and one lucky dog, the coonhound- Jesse, she was also a rescue.

Merry Christmas and thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you are doing!!!

There will be room in the shelters - - hang in there !!!

:scared1: LOL

I appreciate the thanks but I think the real thanks goes to you far more than it does to me. I wanted to help a family this Christmas anyway so this year it happened to be a feline family. It's been a good experience for all of us, especially the kids. I was worried whether there were more kittens but there didn't seem to be. Right now there's over a foot of snow on the ground so hopefully we got them all. :worried:

Pea-n-Me and cc1075

You are my heros!!! Thank you for taking in these amazing animals. I love cats and it tears me up when they are left or abandoned. Hopefully your calico kitties will get a loving home. They are penny cats in Japan I think ??? which is good luck. I have a stray that used to harass/tease my cat that I am feeding now. Not sure where she sleeps, but my mom isnt ready for another cat. I know that I am missing my cat a lot, because I have avoided things from this holiday season I would be doing or have done... with his help or hinderance.

Well, here are some of my "buddies" Scruffy - was born in a wood pile - along with her litter mates - we were able to adopt all of them out - but Scruffy was convinced I was her "mom" - she looks at me with such adoration - well, I couldn't pass that up - no one else in my family looks at me that way!! The other three are brothers, Minnie, Beau and Tigger and they were at least six months old when we got them - they have been a lot of work to socialize - but are now great, great cats!

If the other five ever get together - I will snap them - - -

Have a great holiday everyone!!
