I did get it on the last trip back in June. It was the free trading pin that you get if you stay at a Disney Resort.

What a rip! All we got was a lousy Magic Express bus pin last October! My 6yo kept trying to trade it away, but no one wanted it.:rotfl2:

I got 2 of those as well. We went the week after Thanksgiving and had 2 rooms. One of the CM's told me that the busses are part of a set of 5. But hey, they were free.

Good call on ebay Martha and Will. Looks like there is also a 2nd one of Mickey with a camera. Kewl!

Totally off the Photography subject, but all CMs will trade with children, unless they already have the pin that is being traded. Those that have green lanyards can only trade with kids.

Tara has a great time with this... but it's costing me! She keeps trading for pins she likes, and does not want to trade away, so I have been EBAYing to find some trading pins!!!!

mousepinsonline.com is the place for you. You can get grab bags of Disney trading pins for less than $2.50/pin. You can also get individual pins, not the greatest selection, but they are inexpensive. I plan on getting a grab bag for our next trip as DW is now into pin trading and oldest DS will be 5 1/2 and at the right age for trading. Plus I can always use more pins :teeth:

All I can say is that I could have started financing my new camera with what I have spent on pins trying to make up for losing Tara's on the monorail!

We just got 6 more in the mail today... but I know that most of these she is not going to want to trade.... as long as she has 10-12 to take on our visits to the parks - she can keep the rest.

I like the buses - that was one I lost. A nice CM at the Character Connection gave one he had to Tara without a trade.

I wound up "Buy it Nowing" one of the Mickey pins... I think someone else on here was bidding on the other one and I didn't want to bid against them! I wasn't going to buy it but I keep seeing it and just had to have it!

I bought a bunch on eBay before our trip last year, and there were quite a few that dd didn't want to trade. My favorite was a Minnie in a Tinkerbell costume. So cute. :tinker: I did make sure to buy some that I knew she wouldn't mind getting rid of--I found a few lots that were a pretty good deal.

What a bummer that no one turned in the ones you lost, and what a nice mom you are to work so hard to replace them!

We have the Minnie Tinkerbelle one. It is very cute!

I got one lot of 24 that was a decent deal, and was bidding on another of 47 that was a great deal...but someone started bidding against me, and I am not going to bid anymore unless the bid stays the same, and I can get in for a few cents more at the last minute!

Here is our pin board.

We have that Mickey with the ghost costume too! I love that one. I should get a board for dd's pins. I find them all over the house (those and practically everything else she owns). If they had a permanent home, maybe she'd do a better job of putting them away. Wishful thinking.

I love this board idea - do you store the pin backs in a baggy somewhere? That would be really cute in our basement with pics from the World all around it!! Of course we need to finish the basement first!!! :thumbsup2 May have to steal your idea there Martha!! ;)

I am sure I did not come up with the idea myself.... I'm not that clever!!!

I did this as well to keep the pins together. What started as a small collection of special pins - Halloween & Christmas party, Annual Pass & holiday pins, has now gotten to be an obsession!

Once Tara started trading, I wanted a place for our non-tradeable pins to be kept permanently so there was no confusion. As you can see - the board is full. I need to start another board. I would love to find something that is easy for her to take down, put up.... as she does like to look at them, and -re-arrange them.

I am working on a 'gallery' with some of the pics I have taken at Disney - they all have black frames. I also have a couple lithographs as well.. I need a Disney room - which is something I never really wanted - rather I have little bits of Disney in each room!

I have seen/heard some folks making nice fabric banners to pin them to - but that would require sewing talent of which I have none...

I keep the backs as together as I can..... we find them everywhere though!

Tara never liked wearing the lanyard for long, so we bought one of the little pin trading bags - that is where it all went WRONG.

It was not very convenient to have to dump them out to look through. So I bought her a small "book" with Tink on the front that has a clip so you can hang it from backpack, belt, etc. It has two pieces of fabric to put the pins on - it holds just enough for a day of trading.... when we were on the monorail from CR to MK I took the bag out and asked if she wanted to pick a few to start with - and she did not want to do it at that time... and I OBVIOUSLY forgot to put it back in my camera bag. I hope the family that found them is enjoying them.... maybe they thought it was PIXIE DUST.

That is the saga of the Pin Trading debacle, and my recent EBAY Frenzy!

There is only one pin that I have not been able to replace the exact same pin or something similiar... as 2003 MVMCP pin - with Tinkerbelle standing on a Christmas package. So far I've seen only one on EBAY, in a lot that was VERY expensive. I am going to stop in the Expo at MK one of these days, and see if there is anywhere Disney that sells party pins from previous years!

From now on we only take 8-10 pins at a time!!!

DW has collected a few from disnye, a few from here, there and everywhere, and wanted them all in one place, so i got one of those softboard-style noticeboards, and simply covered the front in a metallic lilac giftwrap - folded it round the back and stapled on! simple, but effective. i'll try to make a point of taking a piccie when i'm home this afternoon and posting it here tonight or tomorrow.

:goodvibes:

Got my pin today! It was a nice "surprise" as I had honestly forgotten about it - the pin bidding/buying frenzy is coming to an end, and I was not having to watch ebay so closely the past couple days!!

He is very cute in person - just like the photo!

Martha,

We were at the pin event at EPCOT last weekend. I wish I had seen the bag of pins. I would have turned in to lost and found. Our kids love to trade with cast members, but hate the lanyards. I purchased little pin books at Pin Central/Station(?) in DTD. The book will probably hold up to 15 pins. I got Tink for DD and Stitch for DS. The best feature is that it has a plastic clip for a belt or backpack.

I love your photos.

Marth, I'm not a pin collector or trader, but I had an idea that might help Tara - and you - keep your pins while around the park: dayplanner.

There are lots of dayplanner-size binders available, some pretty cheap, that zip closed all around. If you put some cardboard pieces in one instead of the regular pages, you could organize Tara's pins on them and keep them secure - and if you look around, you might be able to find one with a shoulder strap, or add a shoulder strap to one, making it a lot easier to carry than in a camera bag, and you'd be a lot less likely to forget it and leave it someplace.

Just a thought... I'm an idea guy.

Thanks! We were in EPCOT last weekend, but I did not sign up fot the Pin Event - it was a little pricey, and I was not sure if Tara would "get her money's" worth!

We actually bought the Tink Pin book, and that is how I LEFT the pins on the monorail. We were riding from CR to MK, and I figured it was enough time to select a few pins from the bag and put in the book.... she however did not want too, I thought I had put them back in the camera bag and was TOTALLY shocked when I went looking for them when she wanted to trade. I felt so bad - the tears just welled up in her eyes! She was very proud of her pins

You sure are the idea guy! I do like that idea. The little book mentioned above holds only a few pins - which is good in way - less to LOSE! I just added up my paypal payments for the pins I have purchased, and this was not an cheap "BAD" on my part!

I looked a larger size - sort of like a day planner/w strap and they wanted $20something for it. I will have to check out the office supply section of Target/Wal-Mart (if I have too)/etc.

Thanks for the idea!!!!

We are going to Cape May for breakfast in the morning and either MGM or EPCOT or both depending on the day! Hopefully some good pin trading and picture taking!!!!
