Photobucket

If you aren't checking each of the 100 + entries (which seems to be how this week is going too) for those extra 2 pixels, what are you going to do with your free time:bored: ...

I guess you could read War and Peace:thumbsup2

I think it's wise to cut some slack, despite the tremendous advantage this will give to those getting 2 extra pixels in width!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

It's when it starts resizing to 800x604 that I would get worried!

Thanks again for your time an patience in running these increasingly popular contests!

800x604? That's crazy talk. I generally get a board admin involved in those cases and request that the poster's account be suspended. Disney legal is notified when any one dimension of a entry is 1024 or greater.

This is dangerous ground we walk on here. If you give people two pixels today, they will ask for five pixels tomorrow. Next week it will be adding frames and before you know it, we have selective coloring all over the place. It will be total anarchy. :scared1:

I just hope the Pixelization Front and the Chromatic Aberrationists don't get together, or the streets will be running with developer chemicals! The horror! THE HORROR! :scared1:

:tiptoe:

(Off to check my photo sizes - sounds like I can get away with 801x601! Anything to WIN!)

For the record, 800x602 is giving 1600 pixels. Does that sound even scarier?

I can download pics to???

I am not sure if this should be here-

But let me tell you- My Photobucket has been SO slow the past few months- I can't take it- I do not even want to download pics to my account!

Just looking through pics that are already there takes forever!:sad2:

I highly reccomend smugmug. It is a for fee site, but only like $35 a year for a basic account. No adds, great service etc.

Zenfolio seems to be just as well thought of by some members of this board and is about the same in cost.

Both have free trials so you can set up your account and see what you think.

If you use this code HJwjORAaIC4PY at smugmug you can save $5 off your first year if you decide you like it after you do the trial.

I use Photobucket and it runs so slow for me, too, especially on my laptop. PAINFULLY slow.
There are many others you can use. I'm sure someone will list a few good ones for you.

Thanks to both of you for your help!;)

I never had a problem until a few months ago- I do not have the patience for it anymore!

if you decide to use zenfolio you can save 5 dollars by using this doscount code..

XE1-C1X-2JF

smugmug and zenfolio are both great sites, the deciding factor for me was this

smugmug allows you to order prints thru ezprints

zenfolio allows you to order thru ezprints or mpix..

mpix has been my lab for years so zenfolio was the obvious choice for me

I use smugmug. Very happy with the service. :thumbsup2 I can't speak for any of the others (I have either not used them at all or not enough to form a decent comparison).

If I want to learn....play around and expirement with editing photos....more specifically erasing items in a picture and guess filling with the backround-- Which program can do this? I'd like to learn on something basic and free before buying expensive programs.

To my knowledge, neither photobucket or picasa will do what you are describing. You will need to purchase Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro.

Sounds like you at least need photoshop elements. You can get older versions pretty cheap these days.

you can download and use Corels paint shop pro photo X2 for free, it's a 30 day free trial, after that if you decide you like it, it's around 80 dollars, it's a fantastic program.. that will pretty much allow you to do anything photoshop wil do, at a fraction of the cost, and the learning curve is easier..
