I love this thread! I know I am cross posting but I am really happy with how this turned out... and I was never really a fan of HDR until I got CS5!

How do you get this coloring? Lovely pic. LOVE it.

It's fairly close to what it was. The sunset was really gorgeous that evening and the warm lighting under the porch really contrasted beautifully withe clouds. Now this is an HDR, but I kept the saturation toned downed. The white balance was a tad warm which added to the warmth of bricks and colored concrete(yes it's colored in real life).

I'm glad you like the shot.

Justin, where did you go that you got that close to the base of the tree?

It's what I call the 'kangaroo trail' - just past the Camp Minnie entrance and Pizzafari, there's a trail that breaks off right, and circles past the back of the kangaroos, then passes directly under the tree - there's a cave that takes you under the waterfall at the base of the tree - this was shot just before that waterfall cave.

Thanks Justin! I wil have to take a stroll down that path. I think I know exactly where you mean and have always wondered what was down that way.

Does anyone have or once had the Nikon 12-24mm f/4? I looked through most of this thread and didn't notice it mentioned. I saw a used one in mint condition at what seems like a decent price and am tempted to get it. I told my hubby last trip to Europe that if we ever went back to Paris or Rome, I'd love to get an ultra-wide. I have almost enough saved for a lens:) I have to move pretty quick since we are leaving in 15 days, though!

I've never had that lens. It's probably a great lens, but I think you can get a great lens for less if you look at some third party makers. I have Tokina 11-16 f2.8 and I have to say it is as good if not better than most of my Nikon glass. Excellent build quality and optics and much faster than the Nikon 12 - 24mm. And much cheaper. I know you're looking at used one, but depending on how much you want to spend, you could get a new Tokina for the same price as a used Nikon.

good luck.
