Originally a single picture that I made 7 copies of, 3 of them I raised the exposure by 1 and the other 3 down by 1. Then ran them through Photomatix exposure fusion natural followed by Nik Color Exef pro contrast and detail enhancer with a little noise reduction in Lightroom.

Mike,

I really like how that came out. :thumbsup2 I did something similar with a few of my photos from Disneyland. I shot them with my NEX-3 and started to get into HDR so I went back and created an over and under exposed copy in LR. Like you I then ran them through Photomatix but I don't have Nik Color Exef so I brought it back into LR for some more adjustments. Here is one in Carsland. You did a much better job with the blacks.

Your photo still came out great. I use that technique if the photo is in rough shape or if I feel LR and Nik alone wont do it justice.

Zenitar fisheye update.

So a few of you knew I ordered this Zentiar fisheye lens last week and yesterday it finally arrived. The excitement quickly wore off relatively quickly after un-boxing it. I knew I was in for a rough ride when I go to put the lens on MY a99 and it just didn't fell like it went on right and felt like it kept wanting to snag on something. So i go to take it off and when I couldn't get it off I went from excited to panic mode in an instant. Lucky for me the way this lens is made I was unabel to unscrew the actual lens body itself which left the amount adapter still on my camera. The adapter just screws onto the lens, I figure it was there cheap way of only having to make one lens but then cheap little adapters for different mounts. So after a little fidgeting with it I was able to get the mount itself off and breath a sigh of relief. I look at the adapter closer and I noticed the little brass connectors that end up touching the pin inside the camera were sticking up a little higher on one side versus the other and when I tired to put the adapter on to get a better idea of the problem, could see those connectors where getting snagged on the pins, no beuno. So at that point I had enough, boxed it up, contacted the seller and shipped it back to them faster than I had gotten it. Once I get my refund im turning around and going to spend the little bit extra and get the Rokinon 14mm UWA, which I should have gotten to begin with last week during the sale. Lesson learned

This was taken in the scene that the hitchhiking ghosts are supposed to be in the car with you but for some reason our car wasnt showing up so only was able to see the ghosts themselves

I've recently developed a love for old legacy lenses. I picked up a handful of Pentax lenses that I use on my Pentax k30. I also acquired some Canon FD mount lenses. So I decided to find a camera that I could use them on. What I wanted was a nice new sensor that I could use with my old lenses. I also wanted the camera to be relatively inexpensive.

So this happened...

Sony a3000 with Vivitar 135mm f/2.8

Sony a3000 with Canon 50mm f/1.4

I snapped this with the Canon 50mm.

I know the a3000 has received a lot of (deserved) criticism; however, at the end of the day all I care about is putting a 20MP sensor behind vintage glass. And despite my dislike of the E Mount, it is an ideal choice for using adapters.

Very nice! Camera looks cool with those lenses on. :thumbsup2

Thanks! I agree, the old lenses look nice with it.

I picked up the a3000 "used" for a bit more than $150. And by used, the previous owner had opened the box and removed the lens but never touched or fired the camera. It was like getting a brand new camera body. :thumbsup2

Traitor. You're going to kill the a-mount.

But yeah.... Does look pretty cool. The e-mount is indeed a great way to experiment with various lenses. And the a3000 may have lots of negative points, but it's ultimately a pretty nice camera for that price. Nothing wrong with the iq.

Hahaha! Well I thought it was safe because I purchased it second hand from a private seller. Sony will never know about the sale. ;) LOL

The a3000 is far from perfect but it was definitely the best option for the price. I considered the newer NEX3 models for $200 but I wanted that 20MP sensor and the cheapy OVF. Plus all the menus are the same as my NEX5 so at least it's familiar.

I just pulled the trigger on an eBay Minolta 200/2.8 APO prime...

Bit more than I usually spend on a lens... hoping I find it worthwhile.

Figured less weight then a 70-200 2.8, results should be even nicer than a 70-200.

Nice! I do love prime lenses. :thumbsup2

The size and weight difference is definitely nice. It'll be interesting to hear what you think about it. I picked one up a couple of years ago and use it a fair amount but my 70-200mm has been a favorite since the day I got it and I wouldn't give it up however I haven't used it as much since getting the 200mm. The 200 APO does focus a bit slower than my 2.8 zoom though.

I got the original version, not the high speed model introduced a couple years later. I'm hoping it still focuses fast enough for things like kids' sports. The focus limiter on the a99 (and built into the lens) should help with focus speed.
