Here's another one of the St. Louis Cathedral. I love this old church. It was rebuilt in 1850 due to fire. This is truly the heart of New Orleans.

I dont normally care for black and white photos but this one is stellar. Its got a cool ghostly old time vibe to it with it being B&W and with the carriage streaking thru. Very very cool :thumbsup2

Thanks Mike! I actually love B&W's. I think this is my favorite of the weekend shots. I love the feel of this shot. It just reminds me of my home town. I just love NOLA history.

I finally got my 1200 shots from my Nascar weekend uploaded and cleaned up last night. I will try to get some fo them posted on here tonight. I took some really nice shots at the Childress Winery and I got some cool shots at the Burnout Challenge.

So far I am loving my A57. The only problem I have is the Sigma 50-200 lens I bought in October doesn't AF with this camera. It will only MF.

Glad to see that I am not alone. :lmao:

Lol. I pushed my luck when I told her I wanted a new camera after having the A390 for only about 6 months. She couldnt understand why I wanted one, when to her the pics we took with it were good, but to me I could see its limitations big time. So after some wine and dining her :worship: I decided on the A55. Lenses on the other hand I have the ability to be sneaky with since she doesnt know one from the other :cool2:

:thumbsup2, but like mine DW she starts to notice when you had 2 lenses and now have 6 though. :rolleyes1

My DW always fusses when a package comes in because it's usually a camera part. She doesn't understand why I can't just use 1 lens. Last night I sold my last Nikon mount lens(Tamron 60 f2 macro), now it's time to order a Sony mount lens. I can't decide between the Sigma 70 f2.8 macro, tamron 90 f2.8 macro or the Rokinon 85 f1.4. Decisions decisions.

Lol we are all in the same boat with our wives. Luckily for me I can have lenses, or anything, shipped to work and bring them home with me and have them mysteriously end up in my camera bag :wizard:

Thats a tough decision Harry. Do you have any local places you can try them out?

Mike, there is not a camera store around me that sells any Sony products except Best Buy, and they don't carry any lenses.

Same here. Sony support is pretty much nothing @ Best Buy and the one Camera store we have. They focus on Nikon/Canon w/ one or two things for Sony. Ecept for the A55, zoom lens, and 1 flash everything else was online buys for me. Oh well..still love my A55. Can't wait to give it the big test this Sept @ WDW.

Just trying to figure out best setting for best situations at WDW, charaters, FW's, night parades etc...Not much to practice on in Maine that's similiar to WDW..

So here are some of the pics I took over the weekend:

So far so good...I only got to use it for the race last weekend (just got it a week ago). I got another race next weekend and then CMA Music Fest the week after that. I can't wait to take it up to my cabin and set it up for animal watching.

The only thing I haven't been able to find is being able to change the ISO while in Sport Mode. On my old Minolta and Sony A300, I could bump up my ISO so I could get a quicker shutter release for when I shoot hockey. I guess I will have to wait until Sept/Oct to explore that some more.

Do you guy also find that you can find things online cheaper than in a local store? I have a Sony store about 20min from the house but to tell you the truth wouldnt even consider buying there since historically anything I have looked into purchasing there has been way over priced. And forget about Best Buy lol, I worked at BB part time during the holidays in 08 and you cant imagine how much they mark up some of the stuff.

Great pictures Grumpy :thumbsup2

I know in sports mode on my A55 I cant change the ISO either. In mode shooting they kinda limit you on what settings you are able to change. So for example if you are in shutter mode you really only can adjust the shutter speed and exposure compensation, everything else the camera does auto based on those settings and what you are shooting. Your best bet mostly likely would be to just shoot in manual so you have full control of everything. Also no need to wait till fall to practice, go out and get some test shots of local traffic, cars driving by in you neighborhood or even your local airport, really anything thats in motion :drive:

For Sony brand stuff, occassionally you can find some things a little cheaper on Amazon etc. But usually it's not that big a difference. From my experiences maybe $20-$50. Sony really sets their prices so 9 times out of 10, you find the same price on Sony, BB, and online for certain Sony items.

Yeah, and w/ BB don't forget about all the extra services, warranties etc they try to sell you too. Scam! By the time your done your $300 camera or lens is now $600. :sad2:
