I'll try to put it up tonight. I was going to make a list myself but I knew I would never follow it with the wife and kids rushing me. Every time I would set up for a shot, I would hear "come on daddy" or "how much longer". You know the situation.

This past weekend we went down to the French Quarter to celebrate our anniversary. I ended up taking a few photos but didnt get to shoot as many good shots that I wanted to.

This is a steet performer. I couldn't believe how real his teeth looked. Maybe they were. This was with the NEX 7 + Sigma 17-50 f2.8 OS.

Mike, here's the shot of the balloons. I'm not sure if I like it or not. Right behind the balloons is the construction wall for the MSB.

Harry this is a great shot and like that you got it around dusk and with the lights kicked on. Cant even hardly notice the constructions walls. You did a good job blocking it with the balloons. :thumbsup2

Happy Anniversary :)

This one came out great and you can see how much detail you can see in that street performer. Would have been cool to see this shot with the Brenizer effect lol.

I end up having the same kind trips that I feel like I had a lousy day shooting but then come back and see I ended up with some decent ones. And I never get to take as many pictures as I would like with the wife and kids rushing me also, you know how that goes lol

Your lucky you even get that from the wife and kids. Mine doesnt even bother stopping anymore :rotfl2: And forget about the kids sitting still, my oldest will be 2 in August and the our little one will be 1 in July so at that age to get them to hangout for longer than a nano second is a major accomplishment lol.

I love this. I can never get this right - having sharp focus on a subject that's off center. No matter what I do I mess some part of the picture up :(

Thank You :)

What type of camera do you use? If you lock the focus onto the balloons you can keep them in focus and move around or let the balloons fly around like I did until you get the picture you like. Just make sure you have the shutter speed fast enough so the moving balloons dont blur.

More things for me to practice then. Thank you :goodvibes

Oh I LOVE my camera - it's great. It's the user who's having some problems :lmao:

Nikons are great cameras and I have seen some amazing pics from them. I ended up with Sony since I was using their point and shoot camera prior to getting a DSLR. Im happy with my A55 but still want bigger better of course lol

2Tiggies, have fun learning how to use your D90. Don't be scared to experiment, that's how you learn. Like Mike said, we're both pretty new to this too. I still delete plenty of photos, alot of them due to compositions I don't like. I've had a T2i, D5100, and now my Nex 7. All of them were great cameras, I just love the size of the mirrorless bodies and the fact that I can use ANY lens via an adapter.

Mike, do you find that some of your focus points just aren't accurate. I had to delete a couple of shots due to OOF. Some of them were really good shots. I find the center point is always right on but I have trouble with the outer corner points. The camera locks focus but it sometimes front focuses on those points.

A55 user here as well. Picked up last year. It's got a lot of great features and takes great pics. Now just trying to figure out if it woulde be worth it upgrading to an A77. Got all the lenses etc. So would just need a body.

Also trying to find a solid, compact tripod that I could bring to the parks with me on on next trip. Tried packing the one I have and it doesn't fit in my carry on.

Been enjoying the pic so far. Keep em comin' :thumbsup2

Harry is right, take tons of pictures and just mess around with settings until you find a niche. I used to take a ton of pictures but as I get better with my camera and my ability I find I am taking less pictures since more of them are usable. My composition is horrible a lot of times ill admit but im learning and out there shooting away like Harry. Im not a pro nor am I trying to sell my pics so if they arent perfect its not a big deal as long as I like them and think they came out nice(or half way nice lol).

Hey Harry I do run into that focus problem here and there. Not sure if its the cameras fault or mine though lol. I just focus in the center when I run into that problem and its usually right on. Jumps around on the edges sometimes. Have you tried switching mode in AF Area setting?

I just got mine in March, before that I had the A390 for about 6 months and was a decent camera to learn on but knew after a few weeks I wanted better. Im def happy with the A55 and all the features it has but know I will want something bigger better in the near future lol. Not sure if I will go with the A77 or not since like you have to consider the bump in specs is worth such a larger price difference.

I don't know how much more controls or features the A77 has over the A55, but if your happy with the A55 I would hold on to it. I've had the D5100 and NEX 5n with the same sensor as the A55. In real world shooting I can't tell the difference between photos from them or my NEX 7 which shares the sensor with the A77. Don't upgrade just for the sensor especially if you shoot at higher ISO's.

Mike, I think the problem is the focus points. Some definitely focus better than others. Cross types are spot on. I never had this problem with my D5100 with only 1 cross type sensor. The Nikon was always dead on. I've missed shots with the Sony due to this. Shots where I didn't have time to fiddle with focus points.

I bought the Slik Sprint Pro for my WDW trip las month and it was great. It's pretty solid and folds to around 18 inches. It comes with a nice little ballhead for around $100.

I see a bigger difference in some of your pictures than mine thats for sure. By the time I have the money and my wife lets me get a new camera im sure something else will be around that will be worth a jump up. If I mention a new camera any time soon she would shoot me lol :rotfl2:

I dont really know any better really since the A390 and A55 is all I have used since I started last year. I guess ive adapter to it and dont really notice it too much anymore and just work around it lol.

I got a $8.00 tripod off Dailysteals.com  Its really just a cheapo tripod that fits perfect on my bag and works decent for what it is. Im not even sure what name brand it is lol.
