Now I feel guilty just for the thoughts...

How do you guys just keep in certain colors in a picture? I know it is done is photoshop with layers, but was wondering if it is possible in lightroom? I didn't know if you would have to convert to black and white first and then brush in what you want back, but wasn't sure. Any advice from you guys?
I like this thread alot. Great shots everyone!

Portrait photography and flash photography as whole is not my strong suit. I have been tryin to get it but just have not got consistent results
I've never worked to learn flash photography, so I try to avoid it in indoors in general. I'll use a bounce flash if necessary for decent results, and I'll use a fill flash outdoors.
But in terms of portraits in general, it's odd.. I find it in some ways to be the easiest type of photography, and in other ways, the hardest.
Easy --- In the sense that most laypeople are horrible at portraits. While a total amateur can frame a landscape, for example, they tend to horribly frame portraits. Zoomed way out, head in the dead center, tons of dead space.
So even with just a tiny bit of photography knowledge, you can create portraits much better than most amateurs. Throw in a decent lens, defocus your background, and you suddenly have a pretty fair portrait.
The hard.. for me... Is first off, having to deal with live subjects, and second.... taking that fair portrait, and finding ways to elevate it to the next level.
So I'm wowed by the stuff I'm seeing in this thread, and getting lots of ideas.
