Great job of focus on the bee's behind

Did you use range?

I had it set on Manual focus (I can't seem to get auto-focus to work fast enough with quick moving bees). I do have the rangefinder set to On, but in this case I just adjusted by hand.

I have been amazed by the quality, composition, and content of the images that are posted on this thread. Thank you to all of you for sharing your talents and knowledge. I have learned a great deal in the months that I have been reading these posts. I still have a lot to learn, and I've found the learning curve to be steep during these first months as a new DSLR owner--with that said, I share my first contribution. I also am happy with any suggestions that anyone might wish to offer up.

Looks great to me thanks for sharing with us and hope to see more!!:thumbsup2

I had my Cyber Commander (the remote for my Alien Bee strobe light) quit on me minutes before my friend brought her son over for pictures. Fortunately, there was bright window light and I bounced my speedlight off the ceiling and was able to still capture some images.

This is a cute photo!

My strobe has an optical trigger and I regularly trigger it with my speedlight bounced at very low power. Can you do that with the Bees? I've also used the cord that came with it when I wanted to be sure there wasn't any spill from my speedlight. I still haven't taken the plunge and invested in wireless trigger.

Thanks!
MY AB-800 must have an optical trigger becuase I did leave it on and still got a strobe blast, but not every time. At first, I also used the cord that came with it, but it damaged the connector port on my speedlight. I looked into getting it fixed and it was about the same as buying a new speedlight, so I bought the remote transmitters instead. Alien Bees had be send the Cyber Commander back to them. They will either fix it or send me a new one. :)

This is absolutely a crazy weather year in Texas. Our third snow event this winter. For those in the North, this isn't anything. But for us in Texas, this is monumental.

While my neighbors in upstate NY were out enjoying the Spring weather over the weekend, I was photographing a Mite (ages 8 and under) ice hockey tournament. :) A lot of fun and hopefully I'll make some kids, coaches and parents happy with my efforts.

Taken with a Nikon D700 (borrowed), Nikon 70-200VR lens at 1/320s, f/4, ISO 5000, EV +1.3, 200mm FL, cropped for composition.

Love the use of depth and focus, Dave! Is that the grand floridian in the background?

Just got a new P&S camera for my birthday -- here are my favorites from the John Mayer concert last Friday
