photo sharing: HDR

Here are 2 on my HDRs from the World.

This one was cool. Since we're doing effects, I thought this in infrared would look cool, too. (pardon taking liberties with your original. I will remove if you want me to)

Okay... I'm at a loss... I use the Image button and put the http link where the image is in my post and yet it only shows a http link... anyone know why the actual image doesn't show up?

Is there a way to acheive HDR with Photoshop 7.0?

Easiest way is to use software called photomatix... it can be used as a stand alone or as a photoshop plug-in.

Or if you wish you can do use any photo editing software that allows layers... although doing the original way by putting various layers and then selectively using the properly exposed portions of each layer is tedious... it can be done... just not sure if the pay-off would be worth your efforts.

I am usually not a big fan of the overly processed looking HDR shots but I did give it a shot last night. Here is one merged with 5 exposures from -2EV to +2EV.

Not to hijack this thread, but what exactly is HDR? Is it a special camera, special software? I know it stands for high dynamic resolution, but how do you get these results? I think your picture is amazing gdad!

It looks real good Jeff! No cartoonish look or obviously unreal artifacts, this one looks as if it were taken with a sensor with a whole lot of range (which I thought was the point of HDR).

Absolutely fantastic! I'd love to know how you achieved such a spectacular image.

i agree nice shot with no odd coloration...personally i love the reflection of the building better than the boat ( yeah i know i'm odd)

Nice work, it does look like a non-HDR image (which is definitely a good thing IMHO!) In fact, were there really much in the way of lost image data in the original?

Hmm, I just checked my shot of the Belle with a similar light level, and there is definitely some lost detail (and I think I brought a little back with Lightroom) due to clipping with a non-HDR shot.

Beautiful. And as others have said, it doesn't scream "HDR!", which is a good thing.
