I have been reading about the photo pass, is it only for resort guests that are staying on site? Or can anyone do it? Thanks!

Anyone can do it. Just keep your eyes open when you enter any of the 4 major parks and you will see them. In Magic Kingdom they were on Main Street and in the County Bounty Meet and Greet in Toontown. In Animal Kingdom we only found two...one near the front of the Tree of Life and the other near the main entrance but I suspect if we had gone to the Character Greeting area in Camp Minnie/Mickey they would have been there. In Epcot they were near the entrance in front of Space Ship Earth and at the Epcot Character Connection in Innoventions West. At MGM they were inside the entrance on Hollywood Blvd and at various character greeting locations.

A PhotoPass employee told me they are trying to hire up to 300 additional photographers so they can be at more locations around the parks.

Just to let you know. You may have to grab them to take your photo. I thought it would be like at Six Flags where the photographers try to grab everyone as they come in the gate, but we were never asked. I read in someones trip report recently how they went to the photopass person themselves. I wish I had known that when we were there. But I do now.

I guess it is possible we didn't look friendly, but really we are!

This is correct. We NEVER had anyone approach us...we always went to them so you do need to look for them but they are pretty obvious.

Is it true that if you purchase the CD it no longer has the enhancements on it? If this is true does anyone know where you can get them to add to the photos?

I don't know if this is true or not. In the Spring we got the CD with the enhancements. One file contained the plain pictures and one had the enhancements. It took my husband about thirty minutes working with a CM to get them all done so I can see where it is pretty labor intensive and if alot of people were doing it it probably became prohibitive.

i'm curious to know how the photopass works and what exactly it is.. the last time we were there was in 2003 and we had our picture taken and the photographer gave us a slip to bring back later to pick the picture up.. how do we get our picture now, is it the same?? :confused3

This time, in 2006, the first time you have a PhotoPass photo taken, the photographer will give you a "PhotoPass," a credit card-like thing, complete with magnetic strip. Each time you get a subsequent photo taken, hand the card to the photographer first (so they don't make a new card for you).

To look at and perhaps buy the photos, you can do it while still at WDW or you can also do it from home via website. You also have the option of buying individual photos printed on paper, or buying ALL of the images on a CD (and you will also have the right to print from that CD, Disney WON'T own the copyright).

If you buy printed photos individually at the website, you'll have the option of adding in cute, Disney images such as borders and logos. This option is not available with the CD purchase.

The CD costs $99. As of last May, one printed 5 x 7 was $12.95. The CD wasn't an option when I was there last May (2005). It was an easy choice for me to use the website rather than get prints at WDW -- no time taken away from park touring, plus I didn't have to worry about traveling with photos that I did not want to bend or get wet.

Also, just in case you're curious, ride photos are NOT part of PhotoPass. You know, those photos automatically taken while you're plunging down Splash Mountain or being sized up for a Dinosaur dinner? Those pics you still can ONLY buy immediately as you exit the ride -- not at all connected with PhotoPass.

No, enhancements are no longer done on the photos for the CD. It was way too time consuming.

If there is a special photo enhancement you really want, you'll have to buy that photo separately to get the enhancement put on it.

be careful with the photopass. i recommened that even tho they give you the option to "buy later" when you get home, that you get them while you're still in Disney World.

we had one of the guys at the photo place tell us "oh yeah you can buy more later when you get home" so we tried and it said our card was invalid. then we called a few days later and they told us that they accidently erased all of our photos. i wouldn't have minded much, except they were pictures of my fiance proposing to me infront of Cinderella's Castle.

this can happen too. it's not uncommon. but it's not something that happens everytime either. so just be sure you buy the pictures you REALLY want in the parks(luckily we bought one set of photos, but the rest are gone forever).

We got some really awesome pics last year and although i didn't buy the cd, I was able to download all my pics for free. My mom did too when I mailed her the web addy.

I would put one in the message but I don't know how.

Anyway, we did have to ask for our pictures to be taken but we did get some great ones at Ak. And all the character greets we went to had photographers.
