What are the pros and cons of Photo Pass & Memory Maker?
Any suggestions?

Also, how much are individual ride photos now?

In 4days in the parks and 1 day downtown disney. We got 556 photos. You also get ride videos on tower of terror and 7DMT. We have 8 year old twins who did Bippity boppity boutique, and they have a photo studio set up in downtown disney and girls got lots of shots dressed as princesses.

I dont think there is any con to memory maker, aside from a little extra cost. Totally worth it in our opinion, we get hundreds of photos and many are so special. It is a no-brainer add on to us, and we will never go without.... I guess maybe if we are only there for a day or something. Our last trip we had 9 in our party and it was seamless, everyone linked up perfect. And my nephew did the Pirate's League, those photos were included too and were amazing.

We've always done it - Photo Pass and now Memory Maker. We love being able to get everyone in the picture. Yes the MM photographer will use your camera but digging it out, making sure it's charged... Hassle. We love the 'magic' pictures - sometimes they just do them, sometimes you need to ask. It I have no problem asking. I love being able to add the borders when I get home. Last trip was 6 days and we ended up with over 500 pictures. We see a photograph, we stop and take a quick picture. We wouldn't go with it.

I agree with pp, I don't think there is a con either, if you are willing to take the time to stop for the photographers. You can get tons of pics! For my niece's birthday, we had over 900 pictures (3 families). And that was before we added the borders! :goodvibes

Is regular Photopass still available, and can you download the digital pictures, or do you have to purchase prints? Memory Maker is a bit pricey for a solo trip.

By the way, I'll see about uploading a new avatar. Probably has to do with your board migration. Where do we go for tickers now? Sorry about the slight thread drift! Replying while at work (tsk, tsk).

PhotoPass is the photo-taking service, Memory Maker is a product you can buy. You can still purchase individual pictures or downloads.

If you had an avatar from DISboards, those went away when the board changed. You can get a ticker from wherever you got one from before. If you used DIStickers, just click on one of butterfly71076's.

We used Memory Maker for the first time during our trip this past June. Totally worth it. My husband was never in any of our vacation photos, and this time around we were able to get lots of great family shots. Also, my husband used to be so wrapped up in getting great photos of our daughter meeting characters that he was never able to just ENJOY watching her meet them. This time around he just watched her talk to Tinker Bell and smiled instead of fussing with his camera.

I think the one con is it is very expensive and you still have to pay for those photos to be printed at home. However to go without MM and just pay for the photos taken, is more expensive through Disney as opposed to making your own copies at home.

It all depends on what you prefer. If you carry a camera at the parks anyways and do not mind having the PP camera person take the photos for you, then you will save a lot of money. But if you have a large group or family and split the MM cost then I would think MM is ideal.

There are also the other pluses to MM that others have mentioned. Without MM you will not be able to get the magic shots with your own camera.

If you call Disney info for PP questions, I believe they can tell you the current prices for the various different sizes for photos.

Thank you for your answer about this and about avatars and tickers. I set mine up, but when I click on "preview", I'm not seeing my signature at all. Should I see it? :(

Edit: And there it is! Preview doesn't actually preview it. :)

Have a great evening, y'all!

With Memory Maker do you actually get to save the digital images and video to your computer? Or do you have to look at them online only and pay extra for each file/print you want to keep? Is there any 'extra' cost past the initial $170 price?

You get the digital images and you can download them as many times as you want and to more than one computer. The extra would be if you wanted a copy on a CD-ROM or if you wanted prints or other photo products.

Prints and digital copies each sold separately about 15$ per image with just purchasing each image without MM

with MM its a set price and you get every image taken that was scanned to your groups bands in a digital download format so you can print at home

Wow, $15 per digital image? That's a lot! Although on a solo trip I might not want more than a handful anyway. And I do carry my camera with me at all times, so I can always hand it to the Photo pass photographer. So maybe 3-4 with my camera and another 3-4 Photo pass. It might work out for me.

Thanks!

OMG I know right I was she'll shocked when I saw that luckily my camera fit some good shots but I paid for ride photos
Also if you buy ride photos in the park you get a free digital download !!
I know for my next trip just a day downtown with a event at a resort just gonna use camera but in October for the big week trip I'm planning on adding it for our group !

15$ is a lot for 1 digital copy so if you use the MM right you can come out on top really fast

But I agree our cameras can be just as good though sometimes I've noticed they get the moment shots with thier cameras you know the pictures of you interacting candid shots and not the smile at camera pose lol
