We are considering purchasing one of the photo packages for our upcoming cruise in February. Does anyone have experience with the on board photo packages? Are they worth the price? Thanks!

"Worth it" is in the eye of the beholder. We had pictures taken (which we then purchased) on several of our early cruises. Now we're past that.

I think, depending on how many photo ops you feel you may participate in, it can be worth it. Or not.

I will point out that you can purchase a photo package, and, if it seems like you're not going to get enough photos that you want to actually purchase to fill out the package, you can cancel the package for a credit. As long as you do it by the last full day onboard.

We've done that on a couple of cruises - purchased the smallest package, and then cancelled it and only bought 1 or 2 photos (or none).

Are you able to purchase the pictures after the cruise when you get home?
Yes, but it can be a difficult process. You have to remember where/when/what you were wearing for each photo you want to purchase, so that, maybe, the Shutters people can find them.

I always pre purchase the photo CD. I like it because you get every picture you and anyone in your stateroom takes, and if you find that you didn't take enough pictures to make it "worth it" then you can get a full refund.

It depends on you, photo as important to me and I always buy the package. At the end of the day, an extra 200 dollars for pictures is worth it to me. It might not be to others. My boys are still young and Love to take lots of pictures with characters. I loce making photobooks of all our vacations, I find the digital images are so much easier for me to work with. We are also sailing in Feb.

Going on our 1st cruise in May! How much do the CD's cost?

I just preordered the CD with the digital images and it cost a whopping 295.95 (7-night cruise on the Fantasy). GULP that is twice the price of memory maker at WDW. If you pre order you do save a bit over the onboard price.
I'm only doing this as just in case I love all the images that we take, but if we don't love more than 30 pictures then I'm getting a refund and just purchasing individual pictures.
On the Magic last year I disliked all our images - some were dark and blurry, and some overexposed, really terrible pictures. The ones from my own camera came out better in all honesty. We ended up not getting any images.
So I'm hoping that the photographers on the Fantasy next month will know what they are doing.

The prices vary, depending on length of cruise. Here's the information I've gathered:
PHOTOS
Individual prices are:
8X10 - $20.95
6X8 - $14.95

The packages are 6 ($99.95), 10 ($149.95), 15 ($199.95), and 20 ($249.95) photos. Different length cruises have different options. You can also purchase an all prints package (all your photos printed) for the same cost as the length of cruise CD.

The length of cruise CD cost varies with length of cruise. The prices I've seen are (for pre-cruise purchase/onboard cost):
7 night $295.95/$100.00 to add prints/$349.95, $100.00 to add prints;

5 night $249.95/$50.00 to add prints;

4 night $194.95/$75.00 to add prints/$229.95, $75.00 to add prints;

2 night $199.95/$50.00 to add prints

Special CD prices –

14 night $339.95/$100.00 to add prints;

12 night $399.95 or $339.95/$100.00 to add prints

The 6, 10, 15, & 20 photo packages can be either prints or the CD with 6, 10, 15, or 20 photos unlocked for your access once home.

Does anyone have a price for doing a photo book? We did that on our last Disney World trip without having to purchase memory maker. Is this the same kind of thing? Thanks.

If I chose the 10 digital print option do I get to pick the 10 I'd like after the cruise has ended? Is that how it works?

Yes. They will prepare a CD for you with all your photos, and you pick it up the last morning before you debark. You can then view all your photos at home and select and download 10 of them. It also gave me the option to purchase additional credits for downloads once I got home, though it was much more expensive.

Even with walk off early disembarkment? Can you pick it up the last evening?
I went before early breakfast, which I think is around the same time as walk off, and they were up and running (and had been for some time). Don't know about getting it the night before, but you can always stop by Shutters and ask.

Just to clarify, you can purchase the CD before the cruise sets sail online and cancel it if you don't want the picture after all?

I was also reading the FAQ's on the my cruise photos website and it says that only people from your stateroom can be in your pictures. How strict are they on this? My nephew is in a different stateroom but will be with us for the entire cruise. Are they going to shoosh him out of pictures?
