Hi! My family will be sailing on the 12/12 Wonder and we want to take a photo for our Christmas cards while on board. I was thinking if they have a photo developing lab on board I can also mail the cards from the PO on Castaway Cay. If they do have a place to develop is the cost a lot higher than normal? I was hoping to make wallet size copies to slip in photo card. Thanks for your help!

They do develop film on the ship. It is ready the next day. I do NOT recommend mailing pictures from Castaway Cay. The mail from there takes a LOT longer to get to its destination than if you mail it stateside. I would recommend getting your film developed and mailing the pictures once you return to port.

Have a great cruise.

I had a 24 exposure roll developed on the 11/16 cruise. The prints came out great! And the price was just under $10. Not as cheap as Safeway, but they were processed on Kodak paper and were done very well. We had them developed on the ship so we could compare them to the ones the photographers took of our DD at the charactor breakfast, that way we knew which ones we needed to buy from them. Saved lots of $$ in the long run. Have a blast on your cruise!!:D

I appreciate your responses! I had thought if they didn't do it on board I could always stop at a One Hour Photo in Nassau! That is great to know. I hate to hear it takes so long to send mail from Castaway Cay. Bummer! Cindyluwho, do you happen to know if they can make special sizes of the photos? I need them to be wallet size. Thanks again!

I found out from my DH this past week that ALL film should be carried in your carry-on luggage from now on!!The new x-ray techniques for checked luggage can damage your film!! DH is in the security field and has a lot of expertise on these matters. It's gonna be a pain to hand carry all of that film but it's worth it to protect those 'Magic Memories'

That is what I am doing, then it will be a carry on!

I was wondering about Digital Cameras. I have one and wondered if Shutters had anyway to download the memory cards onto a disc so I can carry the pics that way. This way I could empty the memory and start fresh, instead of buying more memory cards. I am sure they would charge for this, but does anyone know how much?

As of last week, they had no such service. However, given that your cruise looks to be about a year away, it would not surprise me in the least to see them add that service. From my observation, at least 50% of the other guests were carrying digital cameras, and it would be a huge profit center for Shutters and/or the Internet Cafe.
