Photo CDs

The same thing happened to us on this cruise. We were strung along all week long by Shane and on the last night Friday night he tells us he can't do anything. He kept telling us that we needed to scan our cards more often. They are no longer able to reconize the faces without your cards being scanned. The whole thing was a total nightmare....Took up a lot of time. I sent DCL a letter. In the end they were not able to locate many of my pictures and no CD...........Nicole, my conceirge person could not even fix the problem with Shane and Shutters!!

I know that we were not the only ones that this happened to on this cruise either.

Concierge was able to help us get ours linked. The best tip I can give everyone is to swipe your stateroom card as much as you can when photos are taken, starting with the welcome aboard picture (don't skip it!). They use the facial recognition, so the earlier you get everyone into the setup, the better.

And I would also try to swipe the same stateroom card if you can to make it easier. No need to link if you are all under the same stateroom number.

Use the kiosks periodically to make sure pictures are being captured. Some of ours weren't at first, so I found the hard copies and gave them to a CM at Shutters with our stateroom number and they showed up the next day. There were also photos of strangers, and you can easily remove those using the kiosk.

from our Wonder 4-night: Aug 30 to Sept 03, 2009

We had 3 linked rooms with 4 adults and 5 children ages from 7 to 12. One room bought the photo cd and package 'C' at 50% discount. For package 'C', that room took home more photos with borders than specified (see picture below). It's worth every penny!

We had a total of approx. 180 photos for all 3 linked rooms. These were viewed at photo kiosks with 3 separate KTTW cards (from each 3 separate rooms)....all 3 separate KTTW cards with same approx. 180 photos.

Here is the key:
Example -
room 1111 with persons A, B, C, D
room 2222 with persons E, F, G
room 3333 with persons H, I

Let's say room 1111 is buying the photo CD, either A, B, C, D is needed to be with either E, F, G, H, I and vice versa.

At the time of CD purchase, room 1111 had approx 100 photos out of 180 (20 out of 100 photos had either E, F, G, H, I).

We checked twice a day at photo kiosks and did use the option "This isn't me or my travel party" few times.

On disbarkation day, Shutters open 7am to 9am only for purchases (they don't print pictures)......also photo kiosks are not available at this time.

So let me see if I have this right. In my cabin which is the one that will buy the cd I will have me, dh, dd3yo, dd1yo. In the second cabin I will have my mom, dd16yo and dd6yo. I couldn't get any individual pictures of my 16yo or 6yo? They would have to be accompanied in the pic by someone in cabin 1?

We will be on a Med cruise next year. Last cruise we spent $$ at Shutters for picrtures that we had to scan and get the copywrite waiver for to use how we wished. DH would like to know what format are the images on th CD. Are they raw images or jpg??? Also what resolution?

Reading this I am unsure of how many pictures are included on the disc. Is it all of your photos taken. Is there a limit to the numer that can be included?

The images are in JPEG format. :thumbsup2

All photos taken will be included on the disc. :)

Check out the images posted above by MyDISboards to see DCL's info which was posted onboard the Wonder recently.

We had one of the same questions and decided to test the photo system from embarkation day. We asked all Shutters staff members at different times for all of our questions (including yours/mine), and found out 2 Shutters staff members were impressive. Again, you can decide at any time to buy/cancel the photo CD.

That’s correct….your Ashley 16yo and Julianna 6yo couldn’t get any individual pictures in second cabin UNLESS that cabin is also buying the photo CD.

We purposely had some photos like those scenarios for the sake of testing the photo system. I can’t help it since I’m in the field of I.T. (Information Technology).

I'm right-click (properties) on each photo from the CD

dimensions 2896 x 1944
width 2896 pixels, height 1944 pixels
both horizontal/vertical resolution at 72 dpi

Thanks for the reply. DH says that is about 6 mega pixel. Thats great for what we would want to do with the images.
Thanks once again.

That really stinks. What about families that have to book one parent in one room and one in the other because they have more than 2 kids. So one family would have to buy 2 cds just to get pics of all their kids. Guess I won't be doing the cd unless they change it before then.

I agree, that makes no sense. I understand this is new, and figured they weren't going to allow people to share CD's...so as they tweak the system and rules I'm sure things will change to make sure groups aren't buying just one cd.

But what about families with situations like above? I guess you will have no choice but to have the whole family in the pic or stick to the regular prints....personally I don't like to be in pics so I wouldn't want any of the images of all of us!

To disneynewbee:

update/correction from my original post -

your Ashley 16yo or Julianna 6yo could get any individual pictures in second cabin but you have to use the KTTW cards in the FIRST cabin for taking pictures.

Don't use the KTTW cards in the SECOND cabin for taking the pictures.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering how others had done this successfully without reporting the problem you had discribed. :)

Very good info. We are headed to the port in the morning. We have designated my 4 years card to be the one that is swiped anytime a picture is taken!

I was just wondering if you got the cd & how many photo's you got.
We sail Next year & have 2 staterooms & was wondering the best way to get all photos from both rooms on one cd.

Also did Shutters have any new backgrounds or frames?

We did get the CD. I think some of the boarders were new?

I used my 4 year olds KTTW almost everytime we took a picture. My aunt, uncle, mom and son were in one cabin and DH, DD and myself were in another. They had my daughters KTTW card when they wanted pictures done. I did have to have a few pictures manually loaded but in the end I think we ended up with 300 pictures.

Thanks, sounds like the cd was will worth it for you. How many days was your cruise ? We are only on a 4 night cruise & I figure if we get 40 or more photos, than it's worth the cd price. If I go for the cd & don't have that many pictures will the let you downgrade to a cheaper pkg? Thanks

YOu can order the cd the last night of your cruise so you will already know how many pics would be on it. I believe once the cd is ordered you can not cancel it.
They have kiosks that you can check your KTTW card to see what pics are associated with your card and you can delete ones that don't belong or if you see pics on the wall that aren't on there they can add them to your card.

If the rooms were made together on 1 reservation (assumed in this case it would be, you call DCL and say "I need 2 cabins") then everyone could take individual pictures and they'd all be included.

Dose anyone have the telephone number on the bottom of a shutters receipt? I purchased the CD but did not have time to view it before disembarking. We are home now, and there are pictures Missing from the CD that I was told WOULD be on it. I was also told that if there was any problem with the CD, to just call the number on the bottom of the receipt (which I cannot find). Can anyone give me the number to call?:worship:
