Photo Backpack?

Tamrac, by any chance? I've been searching online because I too want a good bag solution, and cannot find any "Tamron System 3"

I'm a backpack kind of a gal. My Kata 465 and I are going to Disney World in three weeks with my Nikon D80, Sigma 30 1.4 Nikkor 18-200, and my Sigma 10-20. Maybe my nifty fifty, too.

This is the one that we took this past June..although it was just the wife and I...http://products.lowepro.com/product/Fastpack-250,2086,14.htm and it worked great...it was just big enough for two windbreakers for the rain showers. It held my laptop and camera on the flight down and we just carried it through every park. I am used to a back pack, so it wasn't that cumbersome to me and the stuff was easy to get to. I carried the D60 around my neck most to the time, but when I did need to stow the camera, I just used the top storage portion vs the camera pockets. It works great for us now too b/c all I do is grab the top grab strap and go out the door. I keep all my supplies there including the battery charger. I also store the bag close to the outlet so that I can just charge and carry from one location..

Anyone using the Tamrac Adventure 7? It looks quite promising, although it has no laptop slot...

On the other hand, a netbook PC wouldn't need as much space as a full-size laptop.

Just came back from Disney with my new Nikon D80 with 2 lenses and a SB600 flash. Hated my shoulder bag that I bought (Tamrac Velocity 5). Any suggestions on bags. Thinking of getting a backpack?

Just curious as to why you hated the sling pack? It seems that the Velocity 5 might be too small for what you are carrying. I carry the Velocity 7 in the parks and love it. I also have a Lowepro sling pack 200 it holds more gear but wears my shoulder out. Backpack is probably the way to go having dual shoulder straps.

Can the lowepro sling 200 be worn on either shoulder or is it one only?

I have it on my xmas list, but I am starting to have second thoughts on it.

I like the look of the crumplers, but the protection worries me a bit.

I have a top loader right now which worked well. However, it only will hold the mounted lens. And I don't think my new 70-200f/4 will fit in there, not to mention my 430ex.

I would like something where I pull the camera out quickly, take some shots, and then stow it back away.

I have a Tamrac Adventure 7 and I really like it. I have had it since I bought my Pentax back in May and it had been on several hikes and done just fine. We are going to be in Disney World in 3 weeks so I haven't used it there yet, but I think it will be fine.

I liked the idea of the Adventure 9, but the price difference was too much, IMHO. The bottom half of the bag is very well padded and lets me carry my K200D with a 18-250 lens on the body, a couple other lenses and some misc. stuff. The top half is a little less roomy than the 9, but still has room for filters, batteries, manual, mall notebook and some other items. My boss has a netbook PC and it is still too big for the top section. If you want to carry a laptop, you have to move up to at least the 9. All in all, I am very pleased with the bag and it rides on my back in such a way as to not be too heavy.

Hope this helps!

I prefer to go bagless. After all, the camera is useless if it's stuck in a bag, so I keep it on a harness all day and distribute my spare memory, batteries, and other acessories to pockets and utility belt. I don't carry spare lenses (I use a Sigma 18-125 as my walkaround lens), but if I did, I'd use a small belt bag to carry one or two spares in an easy-to-access configuration.

I like to pare down my photo equipment to what I can carry in my pockets, on my camera harness, or on my belt, and skip the bag check lines. I find it easier to get around the parks and get onto rides if I don't have a big bag with me, and of course it's a lot easier to get quick snaps when the camera is always in a ready position.

What type of harness? Do you use something like the R strap?

Not sure how comfortable I would feel with my camera hanging unprotected at my side.

I know this has been done to death and I apologize for yet another thread about gear bags on here but I cant find the information I am looking for. I recently got a Nikon D300 and 50mm. I am also going to be adding probably a wide angle of some form and a SB-600 flash in the near future. My other lenses right now are the 18-55 kit and 55-200VR. I have a Lowepro Slingshot100 which was fine for the D40 and 2 lenses but its not nearly big enough for the D300 to even carry it from point a to point b. Its a squeeze to get it in the bag if I have the 55-200 on it. I like the slingshot but most of the time I am carrying it there is only one lens and some misc other small items in it because the camera and other lens are around my neck. I think I want to switch to a full back pack rather than a sling style. I was looking at the Tamrac Express 8 but in reading the specs on it I dont think it will suit my needs either. Does anyone have this bag or one they can recommend? I am rather small (5'3" 135 lbs) so I am not looking for a monster big bag just one that will suit my needs. Open to all suggestions .........

TIA........... Karyl

I got the LowePro Orion Trekker II for my birthday in August and I love this bag the best! It has the camera part at the bottom and a backpack part at the top so you carry alot of things.

Thanks I will check that out. Its one of reasons I liked the Tamrac Express 8 .. camera on the bottom and personal stuff on top.

Kata makes some really great backpacks that are quite comfortable. Personally, I have one of the 3N1 packs. Others here like one of the rucksacks - can't remember the exact number 467 or 465 maybe. The 3N1 30 fits my 70-200 2.8 lens attached to my camera. It also has a nice size storage area.

I have the Kata 467 Digital Rucksack and it has a lot of room for camera storage in the bottom and large open space at the top plus a laptop compartment.

I have a Tamrac for my camera and lap top. I find it very comfortable (I'm 5'4") and don't find myself worried about it getting knocked around, it's very well padded. It has plenty of room for camera w/lens attached, extra lenses, flash etc. as well as the top compartment to stash stuff in.

Which Tamrac do you have if I may ask?
