:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 I can feel the sand between my toes and the breeze on my face!!! ;) Thank you for the brief mental vacation!!!

Thought this fell within the "colour" assignment category. Taken a couple of weeks ago. Thought I'd get it in before the deadline :) . .............................

Sony Alpha+70-300 f4-5.6 APO macro
f5.6@300mm

ISO 200

Sat, contrast, levels adjustments
sharpened

Maybe someone could clarify something before the next assignment? :)
I thought the following quote from the assignment starter meant that the photos posted were to be taken during the period of the assignment and not merely archived shots dredged up to fit the category. Thus encouraging everyone to "go out and use your camera"

Also the posting of EXIF data and PP adjustments. Is this no longer needed?

If anyone could help me on this one I'd appreciate it as it'd be much easier just to find a photo I already have and post it without any info than to actually think about the assignment, go out take some pics then post them up with EXIF and PP included. :confused3
I look forward to these assignments so much as they give me an excuse to use my camera possibly in a way I'm not familiar with. :)

Remember, the idea behind these photo assignments is to go out and use your camera. Try different angles. Maybe take something you though wouldn't make a good picture. Use your imagination. Maybe you've been stuck on AUTO or one of the other preprogramed ICON's. Try using Shutter priority or Aperture priority or even Manual. Switch ISO's. See how your camera works and what you can do with it. It doesn't matter what kind of camera you have. So long as it takes a picture it can be used for the assignment.

Above all,,,,,, Have fun!

For the purpose of education and the benefit of others, please try to include your EXIFdata (ISO, Shutter, aperture, white balance, compensation, any post processing, etc..., you can also include your camera model and if you have dSLR, then the lens you used as well).

Pretty, Kyle. I lived in Quincy but don't remember a golf course by that name. Is it in Squantum?

I was born in Quincy and lived there until I graduated from North Quincy High School.

All together now.... It's a small world...

I was on the same page as you, although after reading your post it dawned on me that I had neglected to include the exif data and pp adjustments on mine, so I went back and added them. I do find it much more useful when people include this info. It's not that I don't enjoy looking at everyone's pictures, but it's a much more productive exercise if you can see the details on each shot. Thanks for pointing it out.

i thought the same bout the shots being taken according to the assignment rather than finding a shot you thought fit..

however i forgot after the first one to post the exif. it'll go do it but don't know what i did pp, probably cropped at least some( since i save in 8x10) and sharpened some?

not sure what the official rules are but i agree, i thought it was more to help us "think" when we shoot. guess if some just want to post an old shot that is up to them but i do think as a learning experience i'd rather actually go and take a shot to fit the assignment. i actually approached shooting with a different mindset, i set out to take certain shots and thought up some before i even got there and had them in mind to take. ( not all naturally) and that is a really problem for me, i have a tendency to shoot a bunch and then think later ;)

If I'm truly honest the EXIF thing doesn't bother me too much. :) Although I'll continue to do it even if most do not. (I actually removed a photo I was going to post tonight because I could not find the shutter speed.)
What I dont understand is the searching through old photos to find one that fits the assignment. IMO this is not in the spirit of why these assignments were started up again. Which was to encourage us all to think about our photography, get out and shoot more, then post the results. And above all enjoy ourselves doing it. :)

B/c this is not a contest, please go ahead and post it. I didn't post my EXIF simply b/c I was posting in a hurry and meant to go back and add later, but never did. :sad2: Mine should at least show the EXIF in the properties b/c Photobucket does not block it.

here are some things i took on my walk today. thought they were really pretty.

That is exactly why mine isn'tup either. Well that and going through all of my vacation photos - still haven't finished the last days worth.

i am feeling the guilt since I was one of those really pushing for the information too. :guilty: Guess I should go back and post it.

I was so excited when I popped onto the Dis from WDW and saw the assignment because I knew I could get some very colorful shots easily at WDW - especially Epcot. The day Emily and Ian were waiting in line for Mission Space, Kylie and I were walking around the park taking photos - looking for the color. ;)

OK - guess I should go and add my info.

I haven't had a lot of opportunities lately to shoot for fun. I did go to the zoo last week and not only did I forget my Canon but the batteries in my purse HP were dead. :headache: At any rate, I did try to get some color yesterday so at least I could make an entry - better late than never!

OK, you asked for it. Think the shutter speed is missing because its been cropped so tight. :confused3

this was a TOTAL goof with exposure - everything, but I kinda like it.
shutter speed 1.3, f/4.5 ISO 100 - nothing - maybe cropped I don't remember for sure

Cool!! This reminds me of how I feel after several hours in Magic Kingdom.........:scared1:

i have always wanted to get a shot of a bee. I never really tried before because I am kinda nervous around them. We have a ton of them in our backyard with all the landscaping. In order to get a shot I have to be pretty close to them since most of our yard is pool. I haven't done so - because I can see me getting startled - loosing my balance and ending up in the pool - me - tripod - AND camera.

Not a good thing.

The idea behind these assignments is to go out and use your camera.

We never really put specific rules in place, however its my opinion that the majority of the photos posted in the assignment threads should be taken during that months time period. We wont tar and feather anyone if they post an older picture.

I look at the assignments as more of a learning/practice activity than anything else.

As for the exif data. Again its not manditory, but many regulars and others have stated that it is very helpful in learning the various settings a picture was taken with. There are some picture host sites that allow the exif data to be viewed with exif reader software. There are also some sites that strip the exif data so the only way to see it is if the poster adds the info.

BTW, your picture of the duck is awesome!! Well done!!!

these were taken in june - i just catching up on my scanning
