Use your imagination. Maybe you've been stuck on AUTO or one of the other preprogramed ICON's. Try using Shutter priority or Aperture priority or even Manual. Switch ISO's. See how your camera works and what you can do with it. It doesn't matter what kind of camera you have. So long as it takes a picture it can be used for the assignment.
Above all,,,,,, Have fun!
For the purpose of education and the benefit of others, please try to include your EXIFdata (ISO, Shutter, aperture, white balance, compensation, any post processing, etc..., you can also include your camera model and if you have dSLR, then the lens you used as well).
Pretty, Kyle. I lived in Quincy but don't remember a golf course by that name. Is it in Squantum?
Maybe someone could clarify something before the next assignment?![]()
I thought the following quote from the assignment starter meant that the photos posted were to be taken during the period of the assignment and not merely archived shots dredged up to fit the category. Thus encouraging everyone to "go out and use your camera"
Also the posting of EXIF data and PP adjustments. Is this no longer needed?
If anyone could help me on this one I'd appreciate it as it'd be much easier just to find a photo I already have and post it without any info than to actually think about the assignment, go out take some pics then post them up with EXIF and PP included.![]()
I look forward to these assignments so much as they give me an excuse to use my camera possibly in a way I'm not familiar with.![]()
I was on the same page as you, although after reading your post it dawned on me that I had neglected to include the exif data and pp adjustments on mine, so I went back and added them. I do find it much more useful when people include this info. It's not that I don't enjoy looking at everyone's pictures, but it's a much more productive exercise if you can see the details on each shot. Thanks for pointing it out.
(I actually removed a photo I was going to post tonight because I could not find the shutter speed.)
B/c this is not a contest, please go ahead and post it. I didn't post my EXIF simply b/c I was posting in a hurry and meant to go back and add later, but never did.Mine should at least show the EXIF in the properties b/c Photobucket does not block it.

this was a TOTAL goof with exposure - everything, but I kinda like it.
shutter speed 1.3, f/4.5 ISO 100 - nothing - maybe cropped I don't remember for sure
OK, you asked for it. Think the shutter speed is missing because its been cropped so tight.![]()

Cool!! This reminds me of how I feel after several hours in Magic Kingdom.........![]()
Thought this fell within the "colour" assignment category. Taken a couple of weeks ago. Thought I'd get it in before the deadline. .............................

We never really put specific rules in place, however its my opinion that the majority of the photos posted in the assignment threads should be taken during that months time period. We wont tar and feather anyone if they post an older picture.
I look at the assignments as more of a learning/practice activity than anything else.
As for the exif data. Again its not manditory, but many regulars and others have stated that it is very helpful in learning the various settings a picture was taken with. There are some picture host sites that allow the exif data to be viewed with exif reader software. There are also some sites that strip the exif data so the only way to see it is if the poster adds the info.
BTW, your picture of the duck is awesome!! Well done!!!
