Photo Assignment January '07: Winter

I need to get out and about with our new snow cover, but the city gets muddy and salty really fast.

that is so true...i wanted to go take some photos in the town square ( the only place i can get real traffic for motion blur) but haven't been able to and now it's just gray slop

like the effect in the photo btw and steve's girl the one with the girl is so cute!

Here's mine...lol. Since we don't have a typical winter here in FL and it's about 85-90 out it feels like today. I took a photo of my Grandma's new boxer puppy "Buddy" playing out in the sun. Actually he buried his tummy into the cool dirt under this bush.

I was walking to the grocery store the other day and I saw some geese, and I was very very excited because I finally had some decent subjects for my new camera.

But I then discovered, up ahead, a whole flock of them in the snow. Quite spectacular.

I grew up in NY so I severely miss the winters full of snow (note: I grew up there... I didn't have to commute in the stuff! )

Now I live in VA just north of NC. Guess now I've got to deal with weather anywhere from 75 to 29 in January!! We took a short trip to the Outer Banks last weekend. Here are some pics of winter in the Outer Banks!

Oh man I am cold looking at a lot of these photos!!

My husband being silly... pouting/making faces because he was cold. Today we have a whopping high of 50. And believe me, it feels like 30 in Alaska!!

particularly like the bridge...and i notice your hub doesn't even have a jacket onin almost the end of Jan.. so guessing it's not quite as nippy as Alaska in AZ.

Oh! Oh! Oh! We finally got a little bit of that falling white frozen thing called SNOW today and I went out and took a couple of pictures. It's supposed to turn into ice and probably melt tomorrow so I wanted to record what may be our only snow this winter....

I like it! and since the ice dripping off the leaf is the main focus, try cropping the top half and see what you think. The bottom portion just distracts from the main subject.

Thanks for the suggestion! I cropped it, and it does look quite a bit better.

something is up with my fingers.. they were shriveled little frozen blobs of painful flesh even with gloves on..what's up with that? i could hardly stand to be outside for an hour but i suffered for my craft it's not like i was in the arctic or something, it was 27 here today ...which might be colder than 50 but not frost bite cold

I fibbed, I guess Phoenix in areas (not in my area tho) got a light dusting. They closed Castles and Coasters (some amusement park) Cracks me up life stops if they get cold or snow down here.
