Photo Assignment January '07: Winter

only our second or third snowfall so far( usually we have a few feet staying on the ground by now) and ponds are just starting to freeze over etc.. i liked the sun on the frozen part and the reflection in the open part..the good vs bad of winter... ...but the photo was really busy in color so i tried it b &w which imo worked better. actually i did a copy with the trees just a tad lighter i like better but i downloaded the wrong one and considering i have been trying to download all day and not been able to..that was good enough

We don't have any snow or ice around here yet so this is from the road to Clingmans Dome, Tennessee in early November. I so wish I were a better photographer.

I LOVE the expression!!!


Here's one I took on the night of a large snow storm. Off camera flash to illuminate the tree, the orange colored background is the city lights at low exposure and the green is the mercury vapor street light at the corner. Makes of some interesting color differences.

Wow, jann! That is a great photo. Did you use a filter or anything to get those bright sparkles in the ice like that?

Oh, and I think we're allowed to post as many as we want. It's not like the contests where you're limited to one photo/person.

thanks, yeah i got a bunch of used filters off ebay for like $10( mostly hoyas), this is the 8 star i think( have to go back and count the points ..it surprised me how many colors the ice must have reflected although i did up the saturation a little to bring them out a little brighter.... it does show we need new gutters though
