Phoning home

Please could someone remind me how to dial UK phone numbers from Florida?

Last time we couldn't figure it out, and frightened my poor mother with a reverse charge phone call!

The prefix for the Uk is 0044 then remove the "0" from your area code. so if your number is 01234 456 789 you would dial:

0044 1234 456 789

Hi,

What we found worked for us in remembering phone numbers of family and firends while in Orlando - was to buy a little note book then write the full phone numbers with the dialling code down in it.

It was easier for us to locate when we needed it, and it mend we did'nt have to keep asking people for the correct codes.

hmmm.....i don't think it's 00 when you're in america...
i know i have to dial 0044 from where i live, but when i'm back in the states, i'm pretty sure i have to dial 011 to get an international line....

and given that i just spent two weeks at my mom's house and kept dialing 011, i'm very sure that's it...

so...in other words....to dial britain from the US you would dial:
011-44 and then the rest of your number as the other poster instructed (removing the zero from your area code)...

We had a phone card I got from Lunn Poly (£10), and you phoned a local number on the card and then the card reference number and then the UK number as normal (no international code and keeping the 0 on the std number). We seemed to get quite a lot of calls from the card, but it was a bit of a bind having to dial in so many numbers (had to right them all down on a piece of paper before we phoned ).
