We use Life360. I have an android and DW, DD, and DS have iphones. Works well on all our devices. Highly recommended it.
My son was playing golf about a month ago and lost his phone somewhere on the front 9. He borrowed a friend's phone and called my wife who was able to pull up Life360 and zoom in on his phone. She was able to tell him which hole his phone was on and in a very specific area. He found it in no time.
Does it work if the phone is off
rramsr - Click on the little three line menu tab in the upper left corner and it will open up all your options. Click on Create Circle. When I created a circle, I named it Family. Then you put in a phone number of who you want to add to that circle. When you do, it sends that person a text with instructions on how to download the app and a code to enter to join my "Family". From that point on, when you open the app, it shows your Family Circle and has little icons of where everyone is at on the map. Not sure if there is a limitation on the number of invites you can have to a circle. Mine is just the 4 members of my immediate family.
If you have the Send Last Location option turned on in the Find My iPhone settings the iPhone will make sure to send its location prior to the battery dying. That way you at least know where the phone was just before losing power.Does it work if the phone is off
I wish technology would advance so even when my phone is off my mom knows I am safe they just needed me at work longer
GPS needs battery so unless you are okay with your phone always draining batter all the time even when off that would never be possible. Even emergency GPS devices that hikers and boaters use need some battery pack or they are useless.
Find my IPhone app works great. Also great if a phone goes missing. Can lock it, locate it and even erase it.
One major reason I started turning my phone off is because I was getting calls and text at the worst possible time
I guess if I switch on don't disturb even if she calls from a non iPhone 3times the call well come through right?
Eh, they're essentially the same thing if you are in a family group. The biggest difference is that you can shut things down and lock them up with Find My Phone. What I like about Find My Friends over Find My Phone is that I can label locations like my kids friend's houses, DH work etc.your not really finding a phone... i would suggest find my friend instead if the device is on iOS.
DH was reading about it and said it looks like Life360 eats up battery life. Anyone with experience with this?
