Phone number on Magic Bands

I am thinking of the best way to add my cell phone number to my kids' Magic Bands. They will be old enough to be able to show the number to a CM if they are lost (but might be too panicked to actually remember the number on their own.)

My first inclination is to just use a Sharpie on the inside of the band, but I wonder if it would rub off onto their skin after 10 days of sweat and water?

I was looking at the temporary tattoos that you write your phone number on, and then I saw that the same site is selling these stickers: http://store.safetytat.com/store/in...id=113&zenid=f88cd72cacad2332f1ad10ae857b7468
Do you think these stickers would be a good thing to put on the inside of my kids' Magic Bands? I would have extra so I could replace after a few days if they get yucky, but I would like them to last at least a day through the sweat and water. What do you think?

Also interested to hear what others do with the Magic Bands for safety with younger kids.

I get silicone wristbands with our cell number on them. When my kids were real little I put it on their ankle so they wouldn't play with it or take it off.

If you are putting that info on the inside of the bands are you expecting your child to take the band off an hand it to a CM if they are lost? I doubt that a CM will take a child's band off to look for that info. Maybe just put the safety tat on the child instead of the inside of the band?

Yes, my children will be old enough to know that the info is there and that they can give it to a CM. My oldest knows my cell phone number, but I do not quite trust her to remember it if she is in a stressful situation (like getting lost).

The protocol for reuniting kid and parent is NOT to call. It's far better to familiarize yourself with the best way to help the reunion along, rather than try to make up your own.

First, when you enter the parks, point out various cast members. Show the kids the costumes, show them the nametags. Show them what a register is, and point out Cast Members behind registers. Talk to them about if they notice they are alone. To not leave the area. That you will be back the moment you notice they aren't with you. While staying in the basic area, the child should find a CM. Best to find a CM behind a register (b/c in the past Disney sold nametags to guests that looked just like CM nametags, but a guest isn't going to be behind a register). They ask for help. The CM might have to get another CM with a radio.

In the meantime, when you notice you are missing a child, assuming you have more than one adult in the area, well first, assign one to remain CALM. If everyone can be calm that's great, but at least one MUST be. The calm person needs to go back to the area where you last saw the child and look for the child AND a CM. Everyone should make a note in the morning of what the child is wearing. Many people love the idea of taking a picture of the child each morning, on cellphones or easily accessible camera (it can be a pain to scroll back through half a day of pictures by the way), so that you don't even have to engage your brain while so stressed; you just show the CM the picture. Boom, description of the kiddo is right there.

At this point, the CMs have their protocol. This can sometimes look like nothing is being done. The parent wants a mad scramble, for obvious things to be happening. That's not how Disney does it, that's not efficient.

If you're not reunited right there, eventually the child will go to the lost children area of the park (which I believe is generally near the first aid area).

It will all be OK.

Just don't expect a phone call. If you're expecting them to touch your child and inspect tattoos and bracelets and magic bands, you're likely going to be disappointed. Or what if they did, but your phone is out of power? Or you're out of range? (my phone rarely works inside of DLR or WDW for some reason, and even if it does I can't hear it) Everyone needs to find Cast Members, alert them, and let them do their jobs. Disney has been doing this a long, long time.

If a child is lost wouldn't Guest Relations check the number on the MB on their computer system and find out the ID information? MDE accounts should have a phone number and address on it. I would make sure the kid's MBs have your cell phone number on it.

Has anyone asked Disney if they will ever access the MB information for a lost child?

Great advice for what to do if your child goes missing. Thanks! It will still make me feel better to have my cell phone number on the MB, though. It just seems like something that could make everything easier! I decided to order those stickers - I'll let you know how they work out. :)
