I know it's stupid, especially at my age, but does anyone else really hate making phone calls? Even if they're to friends...I just hate it! I'd rather run into them somewhere to talk!

I have 2 friends to call tonight and I'm dreading it. I don't know why. I hate talking on the phone!

I'm right there with you! I especially hate making calls to people I don't know. I would go out of my way not to do that. Now fast forward to my new job and guess what, I'm on the phone most of the day. How's that for ironic? It's not so bad now.

I hate it too. I thought I was the only one!

Here is one more for hating the phone. I have been known to be talking on the phone to someone and saying OKay, bye and hanging up~ only to be called back and told "They were still wanting to talk!" oops!

Now most people know and just call to say they are coming over to talk!

I can't stand it either, especially if I'm making calls to someone I don't know very well. That's happened a lot lately, and it takes me awhile to psyche myself up to dial the number.

I hate it too, as does my oldest dd 20. so you are not alone.

I HATE talking on the phone. Whether at home or at work. I would much rather talk in person or e-mail/text each other.

Count me in. I have a bad reputation for it. I really only seem to enjoy talking to my mom on the phone.
But otherwise, I HATE it. I rarely answer the phone and wish I didn't even have a machine so I didn;t feel like I HAVE to call someone back.
Luckily, for work, my clients book their next appointment before they leave and if there is changing to do, we do it mostly by email. I never answer the phone during a haircut unless it is my cell which might be an emergency or DD. Otherwise, no phone calls during work. (Funny story about that and Dan Murphy once, LOL!!!)

Maybe we could have a phone strike.

I don't like it either. My arm starts to hurt from holding the phone up. My neck starts to hurt.

Unlike being online, you can't just walk away from a phone call - put the phone down, do something else, stretch out, take a shower.

Being on the phone is permanent until the person is done yapping or until you decide to say, "I need to shower. Talk to you later!"

I also hate talking on the phone and would much rather deal with people face to face or via email or whatever. Unfortunately, a lot of my friends love talking on the phone, and I usually end up getting stuck on marathon calls. Argh.

ME!!!

I have a birthday party invite on my fridge right now that I have to RSVP to. I know we're going, I just have to work myself up to actually make the call.

This is why I always also put an email address to RSVP to on all my invites - I'd much rather just do it all via email!

I hate it too - it's so bad that I haven't called my sister since I saw her on 7/8! (but she hasn't called either - it must run in the family!).

It's just that I know with certain people the call means a two hour+ commitment (not kidding) and I just can't justify wasting that much time on the phone.

Add me to the list!! Hate it unless it is one of my kids.

I have about 4 calls to make and I keep putting them off

I used to hate phone calls when I didn't know the person well. I learned that if I sat down and outlined what I wanted to get out of the phone call prior to making it, how I wanted to start and if there were any topics I wished to avoid the conversation seemed to go alot smoother.

For those long conversations with family and friends I fire up my blue tooth - no sore ear or hands and I can just go about my business around the house while I talk.

Another phone hater checking in....glad I'm not alone!

I hate it, too. It's the big joke in my family--if you want to talk to me, you'd better call me because I won't call you unless it's a major emergency. :teeth: My older sister, on the other hand, will talk for hours on the phone. I love her but I have a hard time talking that long.

I can't believe there are so many people out there like me! DH is convinced I'm the only one!

I would rather go to the dentist and get a cavity filled than make a phone call!

We took off our answering machine because I realized if they left a message I'd be obligated to call them back...and that was too much pressure! :rotfl:

I teach school and every year I give parents my email address because I sooo prefer that to a phone call. I hardly ever call parents (but I'm the queen of sending notes)...you can rest assured your child must have done something pretty darn bad if it warrants a phone call from me!

Count me too. I rather email than talk on the phone. Even at work. I definitely screen my calls before I answer. Thank God for caller id. The funny thing is I have some friends who get mad when I don't answer the phone. They rather chat on the phone than email.
