I got a call last night saying I had won 9 nights free vacation. They needed to qualify me for the trip I won. When I asked where they got my information, name and number, she said RCI. It was a timeshare trip where we would have to do heir tour, etc.

Why would DVC let RCI sell our info to another timeshare? I did not know DVC sold our info to RCI to use. I have never used RCI, so very surprised and unhappy!

When did she tell you that DVC had given them your information? You say she got your info from RCI not DVC.

You need to opt out using the form that is mailed in your dues bill each year. If you don't you give Disney the right to share your info with their business partners.

Your ownership of a timeshare in Florida, whether it be DVC, Marriott, Wyndham, etc., is a public record. Anyone going through the public records can identify timeshare owners by name. DVC deeds sold directly by Disney Vacation Development don't have addresses or phone numbers, but many deeds sold on the resale market show the purchaser's name and mailing address.

We bought direct from Disney, but they said RCI gave them our name. It seems strange they sold our info to buy another time share. They were a little rude when I refused to give them the info they wanted. Will contact Disney today for options.

I am not sure if Disney sold our info and much as shared it. I own DVC since 2004, I also own a RCI resort since the late 90's. This year when I went to bank my RCI time share with RCI I had alot of problems as they said I had to contact DVC to do the transaction. I was not able to do anything until DVC contacted them. At this point I told them yes I am a member of DVC but also a member at the RCI resort and to look at my account. It took about 20 minutes to get the whole thing straight.

The info that DVC shared with RCI was enough to have the RCI system automatically put that I am a DVC member on my RCI account I have had for over 15yrs! But sharing our info was probably part of the agreement when DVC moved from II to RCI.

That being said, I have no doubt that RCI would sell your info to anyone willing to pay.
