Phone call from ship to home?

How much does it cost to call ship-to-shore? We had to make a call home 3 years ago - but I don't remember how much it cost. I keep thinking it was $6.95 per minute? Does anyone know if that is correct?

Does anyone know if you can use a cell phone once out of port to call home? Does it depend on you service? Thanks

I can not speak for all plans, but I have T-Mobile. Last year, we were able to use our cell phone on the boat for about 4 hours after we left port and it was considered local. We were able to pick up a signal, faint in Castaway Cay. I do NOT have international calling. There were a lot of people using cell phones.......I guess it depends on who your provider is.
