I recently rented points from a member. I can not find the phone number to call the BWV direct to confirm. I am sure the reservation was made, it would just be a piece of mind to be able to call. I have the reservation number but no phone number. Thanks!!!!

The resort itself will not have access to your reservation until a few days (3 or 4) before you arrive. If you want to confirm the reservation prior to that, you need to contact the person from whom you rented the points. He/She can give you the number for Member Services. The number for MS is also on the confirmation letter. Didn't the member send you a copy of that?

I am not an expert in renting points. That said, it is my understanding that MS will confirm a reservation for a non-member if he/she has the reservation/confirmation number. I always get a confirmation number verbally from MS when I make a reservation. It has always been the same one that appears on the written confirmation letter.

FWIW, I see absolutely no reason why a renter wouldn't/shouldn't accept a conference call as a first confirmation before sending $$. Of course, the call would be followed by a copy of the letter when it arrives. No way would I ever give someone my DVC membership number and I would have a very hard time believing any other member would give that out, either. (A membership number should NOT be required for MS to confirm that a reservation has been made).

There has to be some level of trust on both sides for renting points to work. If either one of the parties isn't comfortable assuming some risk, then the transaction isn't ever going to happen. JMHO. YMMV.
