PHM15: A Frozen Cupcake Celebration & Carnage as No Cupcake is Left Behind

Then it was off to pick up Amy’s race packet. While there we spotted Princess Minnie and Mulan, and of course we had to have a little fun with them.

​

We then walked around the expo for some time, stopped to get taped up by the KT tape booth and then head back to the bus stop as time was beginning to run short thanks to the crazy bus trip.

​

We arrived safely back to AKL without any “REROUTING” just in time to drop of our packages meet up with a few more Cupcakes and race to Epcot for our much anticipated Prerace fueling meet-up but the question really was pasta or cute Italian boys….

Traffic huh?? Well, at least all the cupcakes made it to the expo safe & sound.

Looks like you all had fun at the 2nd go round of the expo. Love the pic of you all with the W&D banner making "2016" hands. I also loved that Minnie & some of the other characters had fun with the "flats" also.

I think Via Napoli was a little for the pizza & a LOT for the cute Italian boys.

I love it when bus drivers have no idea where they're going ... really, it makes for such a fun experience (or not). I'm glad you eventually made it there & got to enjoy some of the things you missed on the Elsa-affected first day of the expo.

I love that you were already looking forward to Wine & Dine 2016!! The only time it's okay to leave Disney (not that you're leaving yet, thankfully) is when you know when you're coming back!

the only way to cure the Disney blues to know you have another trip that is actually in the works...we have already narrowed our hotels down and everyone is working on dates...now only if Disney will release the 2016 W&D date....

Infamous Disney trip planning is the key to post Disney blues! I am in the midst of planning multiple trips on the horizon...Dec, W&D 2016, ** edited now to add C2C 2017 with Star Wars & W&D again (hubby granted me this happiness on Mother's Day morning!), Dopey 2018 (with a likely C2C again with you) & are we still saying GSC 2020?? 20th wedding anniversary vow renewal 2021. Hoping to get a quick Fall break trip in with the family in the next couple years as we really want to go to MNSSHP. Knowing all these Disney trips are on the horizon (however far away that horizon is) keeps me sane.

Just got caught up! I'd be excited about a warm up in the weather as well after that previous day. Ive always wanted to stay at AKL for that reason of waking up and seeing animals roaming outside. I have never had tonga toast but hopefully I will soon to see what it's all about. That's so funny that your bus driver got lost and said it was because of traffic. The expo is a lot of fun and is a place where I could defintely go broke.

Carbs and Cuties​

We made it back to AKL just in time to drop off a few things and meet the rest of the AKL Cupcakes and head out for our Cupcake Carb Loading adventure. We were totally on schedule UNTIL we began waiting for a bus to Epcot to appear. The one gripe that I have about AKL, besides the distance to our rooms what the bus transportation to the parks. I totally get that it is the farthest resort on property, but we seemed to wait for buses every single time. This time I know we waited more than 30 minutes for the bus to arrive. In that time frame we saw 4 buses to DTD…

​

Very frustrating, especially when you have allotted travel time to your schedule and still you end up being late, which I totally cannot handle! About the time we finally boarded the bus, Betsy started texting to find out where we were. While on the bus we debated on the quickest way to get to our WS dinner stop. It was decided that if there was a Friendship launch ready to leave from the entrance of WS we would take that, instead of trying to jog our way to Italy. I was totally skeptical that the launch would be faster, but it would save our legs from the sprint…after all we did have 13.1 miles in the morning. When we arrived at Epcot, it seemed like everyone was doing Epcot tonight…but gotta love sparkleskirts cause we all just ended up walking through entrance “NO BAGS”…well most of us did. Tweedle Bossy and Amy slowed us down! Then it was full sprint to the launches where thankfully one was in port ready to leave…

And headed straight to Italia where not only carbs were on the menu but cute Italian boys! We met up with Betsy, Lisa, and Brandy at the entrance and it was not long before we were escorted in and seated with a great table close to the kitchen action. Although, to be honest we were having to much fun to care about the pizza makings going on near us.

Cammy and I decided to split a pizza and salad, sadly there would be no Italian Margaritas or Wine with this meal…

​

But most importantly we were definetly getting full of cute Italian boys who when they found out our real meal was them, started really interacting with this table of ladies.

Dessert was one that I had been dreaming of 3 years in the making…finally my chance to get me some Zeppoles.

​

Which Debra and Kafi both had to share with me…and maybe it was the lack of alcohol but something posed me or someone dared me, but I found myself tipping the gravy boat of chocolate….

​

I am sure the Tweedles will go into a lot more detail on this event! With our appetites filled with both yummy food and cute Italian boys we stepped outside to take a few group shots

before parting ways and heading back to our rooms for our early bedtimes…

Oh how I love Via Napoli!! I am hoping to get an ADR there for Christmas...fingers crossed. One day I will have the zeppoles. How were they by the way? I hate that they don't serve them during busy holiday season.

THE Morning has Finally Arrived

Our wakeup call came at 3 am and without much hesitation or even talking we climbed out of our beds and got around. One good thing about getting up so early and running a half marathon is that you really can basically put on your clothes and go…okay a little primping has to be done but for the most part it’s just go. Oatmeal and bananas in hand we left the room and headed to the lobby where we planned to meet a few of the other AKL cupcakes to catch the first bus to the staging areas at Epcot. None of us wanted to stress about getting there and would rather lose a little sleep then to worry about getting on a bus! We did not wait long for the FIRST bus to arrive and were pretty shocked when it was basically just us on board!

​

We arrived at Epcot just about the same time as Betsy, Carol and Brandy and together we made the walk towards the area that we all agreed to meet up at where we were greeted by Cupcake Gretchen on the big screen!

​

​

We quickly made ourselves at home at the pavement and waited for the rest of the cupcakes to arrive.

​

What a difference a few days makes in terms of how cold it was…this morning it was just about the perfect temperature for a morning run. Amy and I spotted Cinderella and decided this was our chance to get a picture with her and not have to waste time during the run! Cammy and Andreah decided to go with us to stand and line where we meet the most lovely mother and daughter in front of us and struck up a conversation with them. Come to find out the daughter had just graduated from Texas Tech in nursing, plus her father was from the same small town that Cammy is from…in fact, they pulled out Facebook and had several common friends. Small world. About the time we made our way up to Cinderella it was character change time and Rapunzel came out.

​

That was not the photo op, two evil stepsisters wanted so we got permission from the CM to stand on the side and wait 15 minutes for Cinderella to return.

​

Poor Cindy had no idea what was happening when we came along! Then it was back to the Cupcakes for a group picture since everyone had arrived.

​

Then more waiting, bathroom breaks, costume checks, people watching, and enjoying the music before it was time for what Betsy and Carol call the Death March to the corrals.

I can pretty much see why they call it that because once you start down the path it become eerily quiet because suddenly all of this is becoming real and the nerves begin to take over. The march seemed to go on forever in silence until about the time we hit this sign and could see the laminated corral balloons in the distant…

​

It was then time for one last bathroom stop, hugs and well wishes to each other as everyone went off to their separate corrals. Amy, Betsy and I found our corral K (well their corral mine was actually J) where we chatted a bit and just took in all the excitement around us…

​

Including a preview to the new Cinderella Movie, the announcement of the Disney Paris Half, and send offs from the Fairy Godmother along with fireworks to get the event started as each corral was started.
