PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

Ok, cupcakes, I'm looking for guidance from any of you who have submitted an updated proof of time for corral placement. I submitted one when I registered from a 10k that I did in May. On Thanksgiving I ran a 10k and PR'd by about 6 minutes. Now here's my dilemma: this was a chip-timed race, but the times posted on the race website are gun times. I didn't see anywhere to get my official time at the race and the timing company has not updated their site yet. I've contacted both the event organizers and the timing company, but it's a holiday weekend and no response yet. So, do I submit my gun time knowing that a) it's slower than my official time and b) that Disney only accepts chip times? I'm at a loss of what to do and a bit upset since I ran this race specifically to update my proof of time. Thanks!

Call rundisney tomorrow and ask them! sorry not much help on this one cupcake goddess!

I agree with calling run disney first thing Monday morning. There may be a delay in getting gun time vs chip time. If push comes to shove submit the gun time so you at least have a number down to get you moved up in the corrals

Thanks for the suggestion! I did receive my chip time this morning from the timing company and I emailed it to the address runDisney provides. I did not use the automated link to update my time as it didn't allow me to explain where my time came from and why it wouldn't match the race results page. I hope that this is sufficient for them, but I will call tomorrow and hopefully it would be OK. I do fear that they'll throw my time out and place me in the last corral as that's what their site says. That would be awful!

Oh I know! That's why I was so paranoid when people were getting conflicting information about whether you could submit 2013 times!

I got a confirmation email today (from an actual person) that said my time had been updated and my corral placement would reflect my submitted time. Yay!

:thumbsup2 So happy everything worked out for you!

I went back and looked, it was January 30th this year that corrals went up.

Thanks Karen!!!

I was hoping it would be quicker than that, like today. ;)

And what would we stress about until then...I think Disney likes keeping us stressed...first it was signing up, then it was submitting 10K time, now we get to wait and talk about corrals! Ugh...:rotfl2:

I know this is a few days late...

Motivation Monday

Let’s see how is this for motivation to get out there…6 weeks and 6 days until I complete my first half marathon? Yes, you read that right…I signed up for my second half marathon which will be my first to run. Does that make any kind of sense?

I really want to find out what 13.1 miles feels like before PHM. I know what 10miles feels like, but what about another 5K tacked on to that? But being the insecure runner I am really did not want to put myself in a half that has a stressful time limit or is not some huge event that I can’t blend into the crowd. With that criteria in mind along with driving distance and dates as a factor I set out to find a half that would work…and it must have been fate because I found one and on top of that a Black Friday coupon taking 25% off the event. So what did I find?

The Biggest Loser Half-Las Cruces

I am super excited because the course time pace is a 22 minute mile! I can so handle that and right in the title it states RUN/WALK! While looking at last year’s times this is not a BIG EVENT I certainly can rest assured that I can complete the event in the time allowed and know that I will have support along the way without the pressure of people waiting around for me to finish! Also, I will get a good training run in for PHM.

I can only find 2 downsides to the event…distance (6 hour drive) and I don’t think it would be appropriate to wear a “I RUN FOR CUPCAKES” t-shirt! So now, what to wear?

I worked on my training plans for December (probably should of not done that because my body likes to rebel against any of my running plans) and I have a lot of motivation this month for my long runs, plus time (if the weather will cooperate Christmas break is coming up in 18 ½ days).

I signed up for a virtual run challenge, Tri-Wizard Challenge, with the FB Hogwart’s Running Club. I have to complete a 5K, 10K and a 15K to earn my medal, which will be most of my long runs for the month and will lead up great to the half in January.

What is your motivation for this month when the weather gets frightful but the fire is do delightful that you really want to stay inside curled up with a cup of hot chocolate or better yet...a hot chocolate cupcake?

Wednesday Wonderings

What is your favorite dining experience/meal at WDW?

I have quite a few wonderful dining moments at WDW...but if I had to pick my favorite meal of all time it would have to be at Nacroossee's! I am a steak kind of girl and they serve one of the best steaks to be found in all of WDW!

But I think our waiter was not to thrilled when I asked that the chef put the verde sauce on the side instead of on the steak. I like my steak flavor to be steak and not some sauce! Although the verde sauce was good! And dessert...well Almond Crusted Cheesecake was one of the best desserts in all of the world.

I can't wait to get dressed up again for a girls dinner here in February! And while I am always in search of new dining experiences at WDW, this was on both Cammy's & mine must repeat meals. This time I am enjoying a couple glasses of Moscato with my meal...not listening to running advice that I was given :rotfl2:

Yay Tammie!!! I'm excited for you and your first half!!! :cheer2:

What motivates me? My health. I just FEEL better when I run more, when I eat clean and avoid the junk, & when I take care of myself. Oh and photos. I'm sure you cannot be surprised by that! Photos really motivate me b/c I love them but don't want to look bad in them!

I like ethnic foods and NEVER get them here, we don't really even have a good Chinese place in this rural area! (although I don't really eat much Chinese anyway, I like Indian & African inspired foods mostly) So, my favorite meals have been at Tusker House, Boma, Sanaa, and Tangierene Cafe (Morocco). I cannot get enough of those places! :goodvibes

That run sounds so fun Tammie! We had a Biggest Loser 5k in our area but I don't think they had a 1/2 marathon.

DH and I did finally start running! WooHoo, 2 miles so far this week, :rotfl:

My favorite eats??
Hmmm, We had a really really good meal at Shula's in May. I'm a simplistic girl though, I love breakfast ADRs and you can't go wrong with Kona Café!

Cupcake Friday
(As if just being Friday is not sweet enough)

Butterfinger Cupcake
DHS: Starring Rolls

Let’s hope on the bus at POP and take a short ride over to DHS where we will find a huge selection of cupcakes to satisfy our sweet tooth. The holy grail of Disney Cupcakes is at Starring Rolls in DHS. Now you have probably walked by it several times and not even known it was there, but trust me you are going to want to search this place out, it is worth a little back tracking!

For this week’s cupcake, we have one that I have had personal experience with…

the Butterfinger Cupcake! With just the name in mind let’s start on the outside & top of this MONSTROUS cupcake and work our way down & inside. The mound of this cupcake is decorated with crushed butterfingers! If who love butterfingers, like I do, there is lots and lots of pieces coating the HUGE mound of frosting. Once you carve your way through the Butterfinger topping you will find vanilla buttercream frosting, which is a nice compliment to the chocolate.

Under that mound of frosting you will find a chocolate cupcake and a very good chocolate cupcake…not dry, grainy or tasteless. Once you cut through the chocolate cupcake layer you will find a hidden surprise…a center filled with chocolate fudge!

Reviews
“It was pretty much one of the most delicious things EVER. “

“A treasure, certainly a cupcake worthy of a snack or better yet breakfast.”

“Year after year this cupcake remains on my top tier list of favorites, never a disappointment.”

My Thoughts?

I mentioned that I have had a personal experience with this cupcake, and yes for breakfast. While I loved the cake and the thick coating of Butterfinger candy bars, the frosting was WAY TOO MUCH for me! But then again, I tried to eat this cupcake all by myself. For me this is a cupcake to share with about 4 people, a couple of bites are all I need (and a huge glass of milk). Anyone want to meet me at Starring Rolls and share?

Your Thoughts?

Thanks Karen...I am excited! Now if the legs will cooperate!

That's sad that you don't even have a good Chinese place. I guess I am lucky we have a huge refugee population from Vietnam, Thailand and now more from Africa so we can find things, plus incredible Mexican Food. I wish my family was a little more fun in trying new things...I really want to go Indian...and we have a place here I have been dying to try. I am so excited about trying Boma and Sanaa...and returning to Tusker House! I am almost tempted to book Boma for dinner too!

That run sounds so fun Tammie! We had a Biggest Loser 5k in our area but I don't think they had a 1/2 marathon.

I can't wait...they had a biggest loser in Dallas a few months ago, only a 5K & 10K...so I guess they change it up for location...I also saw a trail series which I am not sure I really want to do!

DH and I did finally start running! WooHoo, 2 miles so far this week, :rotfl:

2 miles is 2 miles...good job to DH!

Can't wait for Tonga Toast myself! That is a must for every trip!

Oh yes. I've had this monstrosity, shared it with Savannah! I'm not ashamed to say I could put the whole thing down (ok, yes, I am) but I could. I LOVED it! The icing didn't seem too sugary to me, which is good because there is SO much of it. I think I also remember the top was "crusty" and crunchy. Mmmmmm

It was just how I like my Disney cupcakes...HUGE.
