PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

Flying out early in the morning for my next racing adventure, Ragnar Chicago. My team of 12 ladies will be running approx. 200 mi from Madison, WI to Chicago. There are 36 legs & we each run 3 of them. We start on Friday morning at 830am & should finish by 530pm on Saturday. Super excited about this fun opportunity.

I will share pics & do a race report after this weekend.

Have a great time! It is such an experience, there is nothing like it. My advice, pull your van over when ever you can and cheer everyone and have dance parties on the side of the road. That is a must for our team and it always makes it so much fun and the other teams really appreciate it.

Have a great race - what a fun challenge! I've never been to WI so I would love to do that someday (although key west would be fun too)

My friends did Key West and they said it is one of the worst courses, but one of the best parties. My Aunt lives in the Keys so I am hoping to one day do it as well, but I also know that it will be a crummy course. There is just 1 road down the keys and it isn't always pretty.

WOW!!!:banana::banana: for you and your family. Sounds like a trip of a life time. You must do a trip report on that wonderful trip!!

I hope to do a trip report for it. We won't go until June 2015 which seems so far away, but I know it will come fast.

My sister and I leave on Saturday for our half marathon in Lake Placid. She is nervous, but I know she will be fine. This will be her third, but she hadn't really trained for this one as much. But like I said, she will be fine.

Tammie~ How are your shins?

Andreah~ Were you having ITB issues? How is it going?

Andreah~ Were you having ITB issues? How is it going?

Much better! Thanks for checking. I took quite a bit of time to rest. I told myself that I wouldn't start back up until after this weekend, but I couldn't help myself and started running again at a really easy pace last week. So far, so good! I just HAVE to pace myself and make progress slowly.

So someone posted on the 2015 thread that the GSC price is $295, she deferred but was told she would have to pay any difference in price.

Cupcake Friday
(As if being Friday is not sweet enough)

Mango Passion Fruit, Macadamia Nut, & Lemon-Ginger Cupcakes
POLY-Captain Cook’s

Okay, since I cheated you out of a couple of weeks of cupcakes and I get to celebrate only ½ days of work until June 25 let’s make this a cupcake filled Friday!

Mango Passion Fruit Cupcake

The Mango Passion Fruit Cupcake starts out pretty basic, plain vanilla cupcake with vanilla frosting topped off with kiwi and mango but what makes this cupcake different than a standard vanilla cupcake is the filling…

A truly tropical filling, which according to reports is DELICIOUS and hard to see in pictures because it is the same color as the cake! It is filled with a nice serving of light passion fruit mousse, enough for almost every bite.

Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cupcake

Looks like this cupcake starts off also very standard, a chocolate cupcake with chocolate icing with artfully placed macadamia nuts arranged on the frosting.

Under the frosting is a center of fudge-y ganache and at the bottom of the cupcake is a few hidden treasures for fans of the macadamia nut, more nuts!

Lemon Ginger Cupcake

At first glance you know, this cupcake is a little different than the rest. This cupcake comes all dressed up with a perfectly golden brown cap of meringue in place of the usual buttercream. Which according to reports is a very good choice for this particular cupcake, as it allows you to really taste the light, delicate ginger flavor in the cupcake. Note that this is most certainly not a “gingerbread” cupcake — it’s a much lighter taste than that. But it’s what’s inside will have you coming back for this cupcake (or at least Nicole)…

Good golly — look at that lemon filling! And it is not any of that overly-sweetened “donut-esque” lemon filling, no sir. That’s super-tangy lemon in there. Perhaps a bit runny, but super lemon-y all the same. With that kind of flavor, you might not even need the buttercream frosting to make it a cupcake.

My thoughts….

Passion Mango Fruit Cupcake-I suppose one should get their fruit in while indulging in a sugar high, but not this girl. I am no fan of the mango.

Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cupcake-Think I will pass, the Minnie cupcake is much more my chocolate speed at this stop.

Lemon Ginger Cupcake-A maybe for me, I love lemon and I love ginger…maybe Nicole and I could split one for all you lemon haters!

What are your thoughts…?

These are still all at Poly?!?! How will we ever eat all of them at once?!?!? Wait, that's a silly question. :lmao:

I'm thinking I will pass on the Chocolate Macadamia Nut but only because I think I will be stuffed already?? It looks like the Polynesian has a plethora of cupcakes!

Now the Passion Mango Fruit and the Lemon Ginger I would love to try because they both look UNIQUE and at this point that's what I'm looking for in my cupcakes! I have never had anything like either of these, so I'm all in!

So we are going to have to spend a whole afternoon at the Poly?!?!

LOL :lmao: Who knew there were so many cupcakes at the POLY!? This is the last of their "unique" cupcakes. Next stop Contemp...where there are TONS more...I am thinking this just might turn into a monorail resort cupcake crawl...I am finding too many that I want to try! And if we start drinking those lapu lapu delights we might just end up all day at the POLY.

We've been at Poly cupcakes so long I had forgotten how many there were. I went back looking and stopped at the beer cupcake...and the PB&J...and the Minnie...there are so many I'm thinking we should do some sort of tasting (depending on how many of us there are) where we get a bunch of them and then just split/taste each??? :confused3

I think a monorail crawl sounds perfect and easy for transport as well. :thumbsup2

I'm going with the macadamia nuts - when 2/3 of your children have a nut allergy and you can't have nuts in the house you tend to indulge when you can. Well, at least I do!

I love all things mango so I am sticking with the fruit - yum!!

Happy Friday!

I would eat all of these without hesitation! Although, I should probably pick just one. :) A tough choice!

The Chocolate Macadamia Nut...:love::love: all day every day. The other two would be a no for me!! Thanks for the cupcakepoolza, Tammie. You did not disappoint!!!:cool1:

Oh my gosh, so much has happened on the thread this week!!

Jenn is busy winning awesome contests, Debra is running like Forrest Gump, Tammie's running pain free, StillWishing ran a race, and everyone else seems to be in a great place, too :)

Today was the last day of school, so the past week has been insane. I've managed to get two decent runs in, and a couple of terrible ones, but my mojo is fading...trying to figure out how I'm going to get my runs in with the kids home for the summer. It means going out before sunrise or using the track I don't care for b/c I can take the kids with me. Eh. I'll figure it out. I need to find a race to sign up for to be motivated again!!

On the positive side of things, I'm 60 days away from Disney World with FP+ booked and online check in complete. We're headed to Kansas City this weekend to watch the Royals play the Yankees, so I can say goodbye to my beloved Derek Jeter (we've been in an imaginary relationship for the past 18 years...that's devotion, LOL!!) before he retires.

Oh, and I'm all over that lemon ginger cupcake. Yum!

Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since I injured my knee. I have never had pain like this before. The doctor said it is pes anserine bursitis and that I can walk or run on it if the pain will allow:rotfl2:. The physical therapist said NO running or even walking. I am doing strengthening exercises, ice massage, and motrin every 4 hours:scared:. I am ready to get out there and move but I know I have to wait. In the mean time although I don't usually like chocolate cupcakes the Macadamia Nut Cupcake looks heavenly.:thumbsup2

I think holding yourself back is the hardest thing on earth when it comes to running. It is strange how the urge for just a little bit farther always comes into play and mind when you are training for a big race. I know that is what got me in trouble last summer with the stress fracture! Glad you are on the mend!

Yikes! I sure hope this will fit in my budget next month with Rome spending money coming from the same paycheck and I want to throw in the 5K too!

Easy transport for sugar highs and little adult beverage buzzes! LOL...although I have been looking ahead and there are a couple of cupcakes I have been eyeing at a few parks and other resorts...hmmm maybe every day will be a cupcake day for me!

I'm going with the macadamia nuts - when 2/3 of your children have a nut allergy and you can't have nuts in the house you tend to indulge when you can. Well, at least I do!

So thankful I don't have to deal with that...I am PB-aholic...and so are my kids. I have friend who is deathly allergic, always hoped she would grow out of it because even the dust is enough to send her to the ER...it was so hard for her in elementary school.

I love all things mango so I am sticking with the fruit - yum!!

Happy Friday!

Love this...I need to start posting a few things I have found to keep us inspired...AND I NEED TO TELL MYSELF THAT MY 14 mm pace right now is the same distance...lol. I just want to get to a solid 12 mm for my 10K proof of time!

I would eat all of these without hesitation! Although, I should probably pick just one. :) A tough choice!

There are so many at POLY...how will we ever to this!

YAY...feeling like getting back into the swing of things with this PTR!

Oh my gosh, so much has happened on the thread this week!!

Holding my breath on that pain free thing...

Today was the last day of school, so the past week has been insane. The one thing I do like about summer is getting out before sunrise...although then it really limits my courses because I really don't like to run in my neighborhood and all the good parks are a good drive away from where I live...so I get the same boring scenery most mornings. I am starting my morning walks on MWF and runs on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday (being my long run of the week). I love the coolness and the cleaness of the start of the day...although there are some mornings that I just wish I could stay in bed!

YAY...I am so going to need tutoring lessons for FP+ bookings!

Oh, and I'm all over that lemon ginger cupcake. Yum!

It does sound yummy!

I tend to listen more to the PT then the doctor when it comes to getting back training. SO NO RUNNING CUPCAKE! I know it will be hard but let it heal and you have plenty of time for training still. I managed to pull off the ToT with only 6 weeks leading up to it after close to 8 weeks being down before that with my longest run prior to injury at a very slow 6 miles...

Been following Debra on her posts on FB about Ragnar!

Keep running strong Debra!

I agree, I had 12 weeks of PT and now I am doing massage therapy to break up old scar tissue and tight tendons. I am just now starting to train for a local 10k. I aggravated an injury during the PHM this year and when I say shooting pain and very slow runs. My PT has hammered into me no running but once a week and no more than 30 min. Fast forward 12 weeks, I feel totally better.
Cupcakes we have plenty of time. Take it easy and please give your body time to heal. The road will be there when you are ready!!
