My daughter will be 2 1/2 when we go to Disney. She's never been to a movie theater or anything. I want to do the Philharmagic, but do you think she's too young? I'd love to at least try it. but if she's feisty- can we leave in the middle? I don't want to ruin anyone else's experience, but I'd really like to try it.

I don't think that there is any reason you should not give it a try. You probably won't be the only one with a child that young in the theater. If it is too much or she gets cranky, you can leave during the film. Just try to find a row and slide all the way over when you enter the theater so you don't have to step on too many toes on your way out.

Note...there are periods of dark and some loud sound effects. There will also be a bit of wind effects and a bit of a sprinkle.

Go...have fun! Philarmagic is a great show!

It isn't very long, and it keeps moving, so it should be able to hold her attention. I would give it a try.

My daughter liked it when she was 2. There will definitely be others that young in the theater, and if your daughter makes noise, I'm sure she won't be the only one in the theater doing so. I'd give it a try. It is really cute!

My DS was 2 years old when he first saw Philharmagic. He was fine. He enjoyed it because is was Donald and the other Disney characters that he was already familiar with. The only thing he didn't like was the 3D glasses. He kept taking them off.

You can choose a seat all the way across and toward the back near the exit so that if you need to leave it will make it easy to do so.

my DS was about 2 or just under when he saw it and he did fine. We try and sit near the end of a row if we can for shows that like in case we need ot leave. he had not seen a movie in a theatre before either and wasn't into watching TV or movies at home either (would only sit for about 5 minutes to watch something), but he loved it. this year at 3, he really loved it and was reaching out to grab all the 3D effects!

So, it should be possible for us to sit on an aisle? I didn't know if maybe its a mad rush and you just have to sit in whatever order you entered the theater. I've seen it, but I just can't remember. You just don't notice these things when you're not a mom, lol.

Our youngest was almost three the first time he watched Philharmagic. He jumped a few times as the 3-D effects popped out at him, and it was a bit loud at time. We did exactly what the a PP suggested about finding a row and moving towards the edge in case we had to make an exit. He ended up loving it and we watched it again the next day.

When we went in September my then 18 month old watched it but didn't want anything to do with the glasses and my other DD who turned 3 on the trip enjoyed the show. I would take her you can always leave.

Older DD saw Philharmagic for the first time when she was 2.5. She loved the show back the and she loves it now. 3D graphics are awesome, sometimes you feel like you want to grab somthing from the screen. And your DD will feel the same too.

It's not scary at all! Yes, there are sometimes when kids might get startled by some effect, bug the show is great.

Last time DD 9mths saw the entire movie, and she even let me hold the 3D glasses in front of her face.

Two tips. Sometimes kids don't want to wear their glasses all the time, that's ok. Don't force her.

Also, I remember older DD getting startled by the bottle uncorking at the end of Be our Guest segment, where they puff air to your face with each flying cork. If you think that can scare her, make her look at you face at that moment so she's not facing the screen.

If it doesn't spoil the fun, there are videos in You Tube, so she'll have an idea on what to expect.

The show is great. Try not to miss it

I say do it! We usually would sit towards the end of the aisle so I could escape if we needed to. But its a fun show and its not terribly long. She may enjoy it.

DS did Philharmagic at 2.5. He liked it.

He did struggle with the glasses, and the first burst of water surprised him greatly, but he was fine after that.

We've never tried this show but I think I will take the kids this visit. Like yours, I am not sure whether or not mine will make it through, but they handle animated feature films fine so hopefully it will go ok. I am quite sure if your kiddo pitches a fit she will be neither the first nor the last to have done so!

My daughter was 22 months and see sat in the theater this past summer and watched it. She didn't want the glasses on, but she watched the rest and really liked the singing. My son was 2 1/2 the first time he saw it, kept the glasses on, loved it, and wanted to watch it again. I think you need to just sit near the end of the aisle and if it's too much, you can always leave. It's not that long though so she should be fine.

There actually isn't an aisle. It is just one large block of seats. When you go into the theatre find a row that you can walk all the way to the end of and then you should be able to smeak out if needed.

We took my DD just after she turned two. She realy enjoyed it but again didn't want to keep the glasses on. I think, like a pp, the show involved characters that she knew.

So I would say try it and see how your child reacts.

I'm going to be the voice of dissent here and say proceed with caution. We took our daughter into Philharmagic when she was just shy of 3. She's a pretty intrepid kid (that same trip, she rode Barnstormer 5 times), but her screen time at that point had been limited to whatever Nich Jr. and Playhouse Disney had to offer (in other words, very mild stuff). When the show started and the orchestra instruments started flying around and beating the cr*p out of Donald, she was terrified! She started to scream and cry and I had to take her out of the theater.

I must say, I'm continually surprised by how well-reviewed Philharmagic is, because we were startled by how violent the first several minutes are. Granted, because of those first few moments, we've never actually seen the rest of it. Maybe all of the sunshine and rainbows come later?

I'd give it a try. If you want to, try to sit in one of the back rows. They are pretty much empty, depending on the time of year you go, and it would be easier for you to leave if you have to. :)

Oh! And get some soft gel ear plugs before the trip so you can pop them in her ears on loud attractions. It will help with things like Philharmagic. :thumbsup2
