Hi everyone!

First, congratulations to all of us who participated in the PDR yesterday! It was a beautiful day for a race. Congratulations to all of my fellow PR'ers (Matt, Cindy, Lou, Kira, etc.). I am really impressed with your efforts to break the PR barriers that were in front of you.

Lou~ I am really happy we met and that you were able to run relatively pain-free and get a new PR. That is awesome. It was great to meet your family too. I hope this is the first of many races we run together.

Cindy (& Matt)~ I went over to the "W" area like Cam said and no one was there but her. After a few minutes, we decided to split up and she went back to Rocky and I stayed (hoping someone would show). No one did, so I called her and told her I was coming over to Rocky with her. After a bit, I went over to the "W" area to see if anyone showed (no one had), so I returned to Rocky. Eventually Lou, Jen, Butch, Terri, John, Karen, Bob, Anne, and Pat showed up. So, sorry everyone missed you. I will look forward to catching up with you both at MCM. If not at the Expo, then the morning of the runs. I am ultra impressed with both of your times. Matt must have really been smoking up the course... if that was the case, you were on fire too. Congratulations again, you should both be proud of your efforts.

Colleen~ I am psyched that you are committed to Philly in November. Please let me know if the thing we talked about months ago is still a go. ;)

Lastly, I wanted to thank all my fellow Philabots for their support and encouragement during my months of training (Colleen, Cindy, Sara, Dave, Jodi, Kira, Mike, etc. and Bill too). I still have a few weeks to go before the MCM and then another month before Philly to train.

Good luck with your training folks!

Have a great night!

Dave - Roethlessberger is a weenie  . We'll be @ the Yeti in no time, aren't you leaving tomorrow? How's the hip.
Yup, I'm packing now. This evening I'll be checkin' into the Contemporary. :thumbsup2 :cool1: DW joins me on Thursday evening. Good job on the 14 miles. I don't know what's up with my hip... yes, it still hurts. It seems to be OK once I start running. I'm going to go for a run in a little bit before I get on the plane.

Dave - Travel safe and have a blast on the adults only trip:thumbsup2

Kira - Congrats on taking the plunge to join us in November in Philly:banana:

Jodi - Nice job on the 12 miles:yay:

I still don't know if I'm coming or going so no running since last Friday. I may not get to it for the remainder of the week and I'm okay with that. However, I may have to rethink my November plan so Steve may have a half buddy after all:hug: Only time will tell and due to life taking over at the moment I have to be at peace with whatever I can get with respect to running these days:rolleyes1

My hip's been acting up too. Guess I'll have to head to the acupuncturist for some torture soon. Too jealous you're checking in to the Contemporary, are you going to try that new restaurant over there??? The Wave?? Supposed to have some good organic food & stuff! See you soon!

Jodi and Dave - I'm no doctor but I think the key for me was total inactivity for a week to let the aches and pains heal up. I should have taken off right after DL when I really got hurt. Then do a little test run before your race just to make sure the kinks are out and then let loose on race day. My hip feels great today. Of course I am no doctor so don't sue me if your hip flares up after your race because you should have seen a real doctor. ;)

Have fun running the Yeti!

Sara - The 1/2 is better than nothing. Everyone basically runs the same course for the first 13.1 miles anyway. Then you get to bail out, wrap yourself in a mylar blanket, and drink hot chicken broth and watch the full runners pass by in agony. Hopefully you'll come out either way.

Howard - Glad I got a chance to meet you and Cam. We'll have to see if we can plan a LR in Philly between now and 11/23. Keep the LBI 18-miler in mind if you are looking to test your mental stability running 18 boring miles as a precursor to Philly.

Kira - Sorry I didn't see you at the PDR but I'm sure we meet at the Philly Marathon or 1/2. I run along Kelly Dr and Forbidden Dr just about every other week so maybe I'll see you on LR one of these days.

Lou

OK, just got back from 4.5 miles, and my right hip ached the whole way. I hadn't run for 3 days. It doesn't really slow me down or alter my gait, but it's not comfortable. Acupuncture sounds pretty good right now as does total rest. Maybe soaking in the Contemporary pool will do it wonders. :thumbsup2

Jodi- We may check out the Wave. It did sound good. Kevin's review made it sound really good. I'm sure while I'm there by myself I may eat there. In fact, maybe tonight...

Hi everyone!

OK, I did it. After finishing the PDR with so many of you great people yesterday, I just couldn't stand to wait until January for another one. So I just registered to do the Philly Half Marathon! :thumbsup2 I guess I'm a glutton for punishment!

I have been very bad with keeping up with threads lately, but I will try very hard to check in here from time to time.

See you all in November!
Whoo hooo! Another teammate. Welcome Kira, and congrats on your PDR PR!

Dave and Jodi~ Enjoy WDW... I am slumming it in Delaware.. somehow AKL sounds better. To both of you - feel better. :goodvibes

Lou~ I've decided to run in the Delaware Distance Classic 15K on October 5 in Wilmington. I've run it in 2005 and 2007. My first attempt with minimal training was 1:23:05 (8:56 pace), last year with no training (I decided to run the Sunday race on Thursday) while attending school and working, I ran it in 1:40:24 (10:45 pace). So, I think I need a little redemption here. During the PDR, I crossed the 15K line at about 1:17:ish so I know I can improve on my previous 15K PR.

Cam is going to scream team for me since there are typically no walkers/interval people running this, only hardcore Delaware area runners. Check out www.races2run.com if you are interested. It begins and ends at Frawley Stadium in Wilmington. I'll keep LBI on my radar, but somehow 18 boring miles just doesn't excite me. :lmao:

Have a great day everyone!

Cam – It was great to meet you this past weekend. Are you considering signing up for the MCM 10K?

Howard - How are you feeling today after your killer performance on Sunday?

Sara – Sorry to hear that the move is sucking so bad. I hope you are able to get settled soon.

Lou – Once again, congrats on a great run at the PDR. I’m sorry we didn’t get to chat for longer before the race, but the port o potty was calling my name. (I did, however, pick a good line and was able to get into my corral a few minutes before the starting gun (guess it’s a good thing the race started a bit late)). The Shamrock Marathon is definitely one I’m considering for next year (but I may do the half – I think I may take a break from fulls for awhile after Goofy - we’ll see).

Colleen – I’m glad to hear that you are a definite for Philly. You never mentioned which return flight you picked. Are you heading back on Monday or pulling a Jodi?

Dave – Have a great time in Disney – See you Saturday! I hope that your hip feels better for the Yeti!

Steve – I’m glad to hear that you are able to start running again. Hopefully, your achilles will cooperate.

Mike – :wave2:

mla1977 – Congrats on registering for the 8k!

Kira – Congrats again on finishing your first half! And yay for signing up for the Philly half!

As far as the Philly dinner goes at Howard and Cam's, I may be driving solo from Rochester, NY to Philly. So if I do, I would have room to take people down to Wilmington.

Matt and I will also have a car and room for 2 (or 3 if you want to get really cozy - it's a small car).

Cindy- I think I found your time too. WTG!!! I'd love to run with you as well... Whoa, Matt is super-speedy.

I'd love to run with you, but I'm pretty sure I'd slow you down. But, if we are aiming for the same pace in the first few miles, I'm up for it.

Heading for the Yeti on Thurs. but also eyeing some tropical depression lingering out there somewhere...WTH???

I have been obsessively checking the national hurricane center website. Not happy. I was there during Fay – isn’t that enough?
Oh, and I have an ADR at the Wave for next Monday!

Some additional thoughts on the PDR.

I agree with Lou that the expo was weak. I would rate it the worst of the Elite racing events that I have been at. (Still, nothing compared to the saddest expo ever (and I’m sure Mike will agree with me) - the expo for the National Marathon). I did, however, really like the medal. Speaking of the expo, there were some strange things in our race packets. The plug in air freshener was kind of odd, but I thought the weirdest things was the pamphlet on meat – it had all of this information about different cuts of beef (with pictures) and how to cook them. Odd.:confused3

As for the race, I honestly felt that I couldn’t have run any faster. It was a ton of effort for me to maintain pace in the last few miles. The race confirmed for me that I can not run at an all out effort for the half during the Goofy. My legs were fine yesterday, but I don’t think I would have had enough energy to complete a marathon.

Ran 8 this morning. Felt a little stiff at the beginning, but felt fine after a few miles. I need to try to fit in 2 more 8 milers and a 14 before we leave for Disney Saturday morning.:scared1: Should be interesting . . .

Howard - That's funny because I looked at that race this morning. I remember considering it last year and passing it up for some reason. I'll need to check with the boss to make sure I am not missing something we have scheduled. I'm already catching grief for LBI. That 15K must be running a different route then Caesar Rodney because that race was extremely hilly and races2run.com says this course is flat. I'll check it out and get back to you.

Lou

Lou~ the course is basically flat and it winds in and out of the neighborhoods, riverfront and old industrial areas in Wilmington (not the most scenic), however it does not have the hill in it from the Caesar Rodney Half. That in itself is a bonus. This race gets serious runners to participate. Most of the local 5K'ers don't do it, its just too long. Let me know what you decide. No pressure.

Cindy~ I feel fine, just a tiny bit of residual soreness/tightness in my thighs. Sunday post-race I took some Aleve, I've taken nothing since. I will get back to running tomorrow. Tonight I have my second of three private dance lessons with Cam ( :lovestruc ) and I'll consider that XT. :lmao: :thumbsup2 Enjoy your trip to WDW!!! Please post your results and pics (Reminder: take your camera.)

Enjoy your evening!

Greetings everyone: I'm at the airport waiting for my flight to Orlando. Yippeeee!!! Thought I'd check in...

Cindy- I just looked at Weather Underground, and it's looking nice for this week. Hot and humid, but it should be nice. Upper 80's and partly cloudy. This trip is kind of strange for me because I'm used to being sooooo scheduled and planned for our vacation. This is just flying down and playing it by ear... BTW, I don't think you would slow me down at all in the marathon. You're selling yourself way to short...

Howard- Glad you're feeling so good after the half. That's awesome. Enjoy your x-training tonight.

Lou- I'm glad your aches and pains are all healed up. I may take your advice and not do anymore running until the Expedition Everest 5K. We'll see how it goes.

Jodi- Want me to call you from the Wave tonight? Or from the Contemporary pool? I could let you listen to Wishes over the phone. Oh sorry, I can't do that - it would have to be Hallo-Wishes.

Sara- You hang in there girl. We're all here for you if you need us.

Howdy Mike :wave2:

Hiya Colleen :wave2:

Drive that ark safely Chester

Oh hey, I forgot to say that I'm going on a MK tour tomorrow morning. A while back I won a "Keys to the Kingdom" tour from the DIS Unplugged Podcast, and I'm going on that tomorrow morning. I can't wait to see the utilidors...

Dave~ I've done that tour and it was great! I have done two now - Backstage Magic (Through the Looking Glass) and Keys to the Kingdom. However, I've never won one of them! :headache: Good for you... enjoy!

Cindy - Congrats to you too! No problem on not chatting. A port-o-potty before the start can be the difference between a PR or just a good race. VA Beach looks good and I agree about the marathon. 1/2's are much more fun to run. I get nervous just thinking about running a marathon. One more thing...they gave out those plug in air fresheners at DL too. What's up with that? My DD loves them and uses them as a night light.

Howard - I'll check with Nicole. If I was taking dance lessons with her it would be a lot easier to run a random 15K.

Dave - You've convinced me that my next career move will be in education. I need to start living the high life with you.

Nothing to report today other then tight quad muscles. I'll get out bright and early tomorrow for my first training run in weeks. I'll be taking it slow for a while.

Lou

You are SUCH a tool!!!!!:rotfl2:

Cindy, Howard & Lou - Hope you are all still basking in the glow of awesome PRs & such...enjoy the post-race, well-earned stiffness!!/soreness:thumbsup2

You are SUCH a tool!!!!!:rotfl2:
OK, Karma caught up with me. Budget rental car had no cars - so I'm sitting here at MCO waiting for a car. They can take the reservation, but they can't hold the reservation... It's the holding the reservation that's the most important part.
