Thanks all. I'm fine - just explaining my lack of posting. I'm still reading - that I can do quickly. Writing is another story . . .

Hey guys! Haven't been on here in a LOOOOONG time. Just wanted to say that I, too, just signed up for MCM. So I'll be in DC to see some of you guys! :cool1:

Hope everyone's doing well. I really need to get on here and catch up (sorry for my absence!).

Take care, cool kids!

Steve

AHHHHHHHHH!!!

That's just me stopping by and venting. It's been an insane work day today and I say this as I worked from home. At times I had 2 phones to my ears. :scared1: I even had meetings with people at home. I have one more person to meet with and then I am taking my son to track practice at 6PM. I'll try to get in 3 miles while he trains for an upcoming meet.

Sorry for the onesided post. I'll check in with everyone later tonight or tomorrow AM. I need to go pop a Motrin and relieve the jaw stress.

Lou

Greetings Team: I have training to report! I did 4 miles on Monday on the TM. Yesterday I did 4.5 miles outside in 40:53 min/9:04 mpm pace it was a gorgeous day, crisp, cool and sunny. I'm trying to get back on track with my training. I'd love to get a 20+ mile week in this week. I just need to keep it going. We'll see how it goes.

No news yet from the search committee at SUNY/Geneseo. The search committee chair said they met yesterday to make a decision, and she is meeting with the Provost today to relay the committee's decision to her. It's the Provost's call to make an offer. We'll see what happens, but get this. Now my old job at the Univ of Rochester doesn't want to lose me. I was talking with my collaborators (in other departments) saying that I'm interviewing for a job down at Geneseo, and my collaborators were shocked my contract wasn't renewed and are scrambling to keep me. My head is kind of spinning from it all. I've gone from feeling like my back was against the wall, and I had no options - to now having some options. It's either feast or famine. I'm just going to let it ride out and see what happens.

I am sorry about all the uncertainty the administrators are puting you through. All I can say is I wish you the best result possible.

I never cease to be amazed at the behavior of College administrators toward their only competitive advantage, their highly skilled faculty and staff. You would think they'd do all they can to attract and retain talent, and instead they seem to do the inverse.

Colleen

I leave on May 19, there for 1 month. Of course I haven't heard from the listing agent or the owner of the apartment since March and I'm supposed to know when and where to meet them, as well as the form of final payment they require. Great, I've already paid 1/2 the rent and the agent's fee. I sure hope this is just being French and not hurried, but right now I am beginning to wonder.

Sara

Thanks for the kind thoughts for Sunday. I'm fit enough for 8:45 mpm but it looks like it will be hot and humid (as always), so who knows what it will feel like and what the result will be.

And take care of yourself.

Best
Craig

Good morning everyone,

Wow, it's tough reading about people registering for MCM. Kinda gives me the itch, if you know what I mean.

Dave - See, you should have just relaxed months ago when all us geniuses said everything would work out.

WTG with the running. Good to see you enjoying it.

Cindy - Don't you hate it when work gets in the way of DIS time? Ughh.

Have a good time this weekend. Don't fight with your sister either.

Miss Wench - Kathy left this morning. Plenty of Daddy-Daughter time for sure. We spend a lot of time together as it is, so it's not like it will be something completely out of the ordinary. As long as no one needs her hair put up in a pony tail, I'm alright.

Dodo - What, are you ignoring everyone except to take offense to not being mentioned in a post? Again I ask, what's the origin of the nickname?

Lou - Things more relaxed yet?

Sara, Chester, Steves, Howard, Amy, Craig, Anne, Bill, and the entire interneting world - Hey!

On the running front, I ran 6 on Monday, 8 on Tuesday, and 8 yesterday. Rest day today and LR tomorrow. I'm scheduled for 20 but will have to settle for as many miles as I can knock out while DD4 is in preschool. I hope to get 17 or maybe 18.

Talk to ya'll later.

:surfweb: Good morning everyone!

I am now registered for MCM 2008! I am also registered for the Philadelphia Marathon and for the Goofy 2009 (plus 5K).

I will be training hard to make some good showings at these events. My goal is to get a PR at either MCM or PHL and then to get a new one at Disney. Lofty goals, but then again, without goals where would we be?

My marathon PR is 4:41.

Enjoy your day! Anyone traveling to WDW this weekend for the Minnie, safe travels and I hope to see you there.

:lmao: I hear you brother! I have lots of Daddy-Daughter time too, but that's the one thing I have to defer on. DD7 pooh: will ask for her hair in pigtails, and I just say "I don't know nothin' about pigtails..."

Got a run in on the TM this morning. 4 miles in 38:45 min - felt pretty good. OK, time to do some work.

:rotfl2: I bet you boys wouldn't be too shocked if I told you the only time DD7 gets her hair in pigtails is if my DH does them for her:thumbsup2 . I don't have the patience for that let alone the tolerance for the whining if I happen to pull some hair:scared1: .

Howard - I am impressed and jealous of your race ambitions:banana: . I want to run a 4:30 at Philly so if you're on track for that and I am injury free in November I would love to run it with you:hug: .

Mike - Enjoy your time with the DD's and I hope you're able to bang out a great LR. Best of luck to Kathy at the Minnie:cheer2: .

Dave - Yeah on the training:cool1: and the DD's and I are praying for your job prospects nightly:hug: . Hang in there and I am sure it'll all work out as it should.

Lou - We miss you:grouphug: and sorry about the LTO! Thanks for the quick check-in and I hope it slows down for you soon. Were you able to get the 3 miles inpopcorn:: ?

Steve-OH - So I'm assuming that MCM = NO PHILLY:rolleyes1 ? Glad you'll be able to run a fall marathon even though it's not the one most of us are running:laughing: . Thanks for checking in on this thread and how was the tripopcorn:: ? Tell Krista we said :wave2: . I see that Carter's got some serious cross-training going on already:thumbsup2 .

Colleen - You know I love you and thanks for saying the words that I needed to hear. Don't worry, I'm not letting the dream die just yet...

Jodi - Are you going to take me up on the offer for Lake Placidpopcorn:: ?

Cindy - :wizard: for getting through the current work situation. Please check-in when you're able and know we're thinking of you. Have an absolute blast this weekend:cheer2: .

Chester - Safe travels and I hope you and Tracy have an awesome weekend at the Minnie:banana: .

After swearing off running on Saturday until I can get into the ortho next week for the MRI results, I was back at it again last night. DH shot me the dirty look and said "be careful" as I headed out the door for a run. I just whined and stated "I'm just a crack wh#@e and the stupid running is the crack I can't quite kick.":rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao: Whatever, I could have worse addictions:rolleyes1 .

Sara: I would really enjoy running Philly with you! I will hopefully be in that time range after training from early June through October for the MCM and then up to the Philly race. I am actually shooting for a 4:15 at MCM. I can dream, right? I just hope we are both healthy and ready for the challenge in November. The weather was cold and rainy this past year... not very nice at all. I hope we get a mild cool day to run this November.

Hello to everyone else!!!

:grouphug:

Howard

I made my reservation at Embassy Suites for Philly! :thumbsup2 Wanted to make sure I didn't get blocked out of the rooms.

Sara- I'm definitely thinking seriously about Lake Placid in June.

Wow, it's tough reading about people registering for MCM. Kinda gives me the itch, if you know what I mean.

I do know what you mean. I was talking to Matt about that this morning as we were getting ready for work. I actually tempted to just sign up - if Howard can do MCM, Philly, and Goofy, why can't I? I'm also seriously considering registering for the half in Baltimore in early October. Matt thinks that I am totally crazy  There is an MCM 10k, so I am at least going to register for that (if I don't go crazy and register for the marathon first). Registration for the 10k opens June 1. You do get a medal and where else (besides Disney) do you get a medal for a 10K?

:rotfl::hug:

Anyone check out the SteamBOaT Springs run in CO? Looks real cool, all downhill! You take a Gondola to the top of a mountain where the start is :thumbsup2 That's what I'M talking about. Also, has anyone else ever thought of running the Alaska Midnight RUn marathon?? I'd have to start saving for that about 2 years out  , just wondering if any Bots are interested :confused3 . But we're all still on the PHilly Page & VA Beach marathon in March 09, right? Who is going to be in Disney in Jan '09?

I'm up for any of those races. I really want to go to Alaska. Still doing Philly in Nov., - I have booked my room at Embassy Suites - like the idea of VA Beach in March, and you know I'm doing the Goofy in Jan.

Dave - Glad to hear that the job situation seems to be looking up and that you have been able to get back to running. Is the hip all better?

Mike - good luck on the long run!

:wave2: to everyone else! (Sorry I missed so many people)

I'm excited. I leave early tomorrow morning and will fly back early Monday morning.

Ran 5-8-5 over the last three days and felt ok on Tues and Wed and really good today. I'm going to try to PR the 5k if the heat isn't too bad.

Gotta go. Last time I went on vacation I was at the office until past 2 am and had to leave for the airport at 5 am and I'm going to try to not repeat that.

Hi Cindy: The hip seems to be doing better right now. We'll see how it is if and when I do a long run on Saturday, but it seems OK right now (knock on wood). Have a great time at the Minnie this weekend. Sorry it didn't work out for me to have a tour service to drive everyone around.

if Howard can do MCM, Philly, and Goofy, why can't I?
Cindy - By all means, go for it! Just remember, Howard has been known to use a 4 week training plan for Goofy;) .

Then again, there's Colleen. She's doing Philly, New York via the lottery, and still has her deferred entry from MCM from last year. It's going to be a busy fall for our lovely Canadian.

:rotfl: Yeah, and this is the Canuck with the bum leg.:sad2:

My DH always teases me that I have so many hotel reservations (with swim meets, marathons and vacations) in place, I will forget about one...

I completely deny that accusation! I never....

... However, I have been known for 3 week training plans for Goofy. :rolleyes1

I will be in the same boat as most of you beginning on June 1, working full time and training whenever possible. I am looking forward to it! No more three weekers for me. :cool1: :thumbsup2
