Howdeeee!

No tights for me. I'll stick to baggy shorts and just do the TM until spring.
Come on Lou! Man up and pull some tights on! I still take crap from my girls every time I wear them but I'm O.K. with it.

Cindy - Yep, you ruined my no TM streak. I'm glad you made it home safe. Luckily, I have a short drive to work, all on local roads and I had no troubles.

Jodi - You had me worried when you vanished for a few days. I'm happy to hear that you are good.

Yep, working this week. Between that and cuties 1 & 2 piano recital this weekend it's gonna be interesting squeezing in a happy little 18 miler:faint: .

Kathy is good. She's not a big poster but you can be sure I hear about it if I cross over any lines of propriety (never happens;) ) so I know she's keeping an eye on things.

I haven't officially signed up for the race with Cindy yet but I will this week.

Cindy - I was checking out the National Marathon website last night. Did you notice that every water stop is also a Gu stop? Heck, at a buck plus per packet I may just have to bring a bag to carry a bunch of packets home!

Alrighty then, thanks to Cindy and her "I don't need to join a gym because the weather has been cooperating" curse and the resulting ice storm I was forced to do an 8 mile tempo run on the TM Weds AM:scared1: . I'm always a minute/mile or so slower on the treadmill, so running 6 of those miles at 8.0 mpm pace was a heck of a lot of work.

5 miles on the schedule for today. It looks like I should be able to get outside again. Yippee!

Take care everyone. Happy Valentine's Day  .

Good Morning Everyone: Sorry I haven't posted much. My energy has been pretty drained dealing with work and job issues. Thanks for the support everyone. I'm working on keeping my head up. I haven't done any working out since Monday, but I'm thinking it's rest days for my hip anyway.

Sara- I wanted to WISH you well with your mysterious leg ailment. I'm glad the doctor said it looks great, but I guess that doesn't really help you get better. Hope you heal up soon. Take it easy out there.

Colleen- Congrats on handing in your first time sheet. It will be even better when you get that first paycheck though!

Welcome Angela- Great to see you posting over here. Sorry work has been so stressful. Man, can I relate to that. Hang in there.

Lou- I'm a neuroscientist, and I teach classes about the brain, behavior, and physiology. Right now I'm teaching a research methods course in the psychology department.

Jodi- Hey, you're running right? Who cares if it's 4 sucky miles. You're out there doing it. WTG! Are you doing the Minnie Marathon? I have an airline ticket voucher that I don't think I'll be able to use. PM if you're interested - I'd like to get some money back on it to put in my vacation fund, but I'm sure you could get a good price ;)

Cindy- You be careful on that ice out there. Don't hurt yourself.

Mike- Whoa, 8 mile tempo run on the TM. 6 miles at 8.0 mpm pace. That is amazing! WTG!

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY TO ALL MY LOVELY DISBOTPEEPS:love:** CAN YOU FEEL THE LOVE?

OK enough of that crap...

Mike -Sorry you have to actually work this week, bummer:rotfl: .* 18 miles this week?* Jeez, what gives with that?* I don't even wanna drive that far...furthest I've run since GOOFY is 10!* I ran on the dreadmill yesterday, too, ran hills, ugh!* I cannot believe you ran that fast on that stupid thing, WTG:thumbsup2 .** Dude, if they give out gus @ every water stop I'd stock up on them & like, sell them on e-bay or something!* I'm always looking for ways to make extra$ for race entry fees & airfare!:lmao:

Dave - Being a neuroscientist & all, perhaps you could tell me WTH is wrong in my brain??* I mean, you should be able to a get a grant for a year to study what ails my mind, no?:rotfl2:** I was gonna be a neuroscientist, too, but then I didn't go to college...oh well.* I'm sure your woes @ work will clear up soon.* Please hang in there.* I will PM you about the voucher.

Sara - How goes the mystery leg?

ThetaWaves - Did you get your first paycheck yet???:dance3: popcorn:: :woohoo: Spend it on yourself, please! Maybe buy a six-pack of Moosehead beer to remind you of the motherland (did I just date myself? Do they even have Moosehead beer anymore?)

Lou - Running thru the casinos lately? Made up your mind which race to do? DL half, eh? Hmmm....

Chester - Where are you, you loin-wearing freak?

Cindy - That's cool that you live so close to work. Please be careful walking/running/biking & whatever else it is you do during ice storms down there! Are you getting psyched for that 1/2? I'm really thinking that those distances are best for an old hag like myself.

Perhaps we should all think about doing just the 1/2 @ the Shamrock thing in VA Beach next March (I love dragging people down with me & just underachieving in general).

So the dreadmill was beat yesterday & running @ an incline of 12 for 5 min. intervals sucks big MickeyBars, but at least I was sweating & my heart was pounding (no chest pains which always good). Then I'd go down to 3.5 or 4 incline for 2 mins. then back up. The last 1.5 min. I went up to 15 incline. This was all stupid, b/c today my left knee hurts & my right achilles-area feels like poop.:sad2: Today I'll rest, then run tomorrow & Sat...we'll see about Sun. I think I'll do 8 tomorrow, then less miles on Sat as it's supposed to be wicked cold then.

OK, I'm done for now...what's everyone got on tap this weekend?

More later, but Mike's post made me go look at the National Marathon map. Seriously - I wonder if they made a mistake - that is A LOT of Gu - 7 for the half and 12 for the full. I hope no one thinks that they are supposed to actually take one and eat them at every stop :scared1: - that could lead to some serious Jodistop issues.

Quick question for all you DC peeps! How long does it take to take that train thingie from Baltimore to downtown DC? There are ding fares next week & I was going to take my kid to DC for the day...lemmee know, thanks.

It's about a half hour from BWI to Union Station (downtown DC). I think you do have to take some sort of shuttle thingy from the actual airport to the BWI train station, but I'm not entirely sure.

I took that train when I came into DC for a meeting prior to the MCM. It's a very easy ride. Yes, you do have to take a shuttle from the airport to the train station, but it's no different than one of the parking shuttles. If have to take a shuttle to everything from BWI. Make sure you get on the MARC shuttle, and it's only $6 one way for the train. It was fun.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!!

Mike - I'm not into the tights or the shortie shorts. I'm from Philly. People get beat up around here if they catch you running in outfits like that.

Dave - Neuroscientist? Man, you must be the smartest person on these boards. You are probably writing a paper on each of us based on our behavior at marathons and on this board. On a serious note, I hope things turn around in your favor soon.

Jodi - No casinos this week. I'll be in A.C. next week through. I have been in Philly most of the week. Caesar Rodney 1/2 in DE is next for me (3/9). Go for the DL 1/2! That would make it 5 Disney medals in 2008 for you (maybe more if you do the E:E race). Can't help you with the BWI to DC train. Have fun in DC!

Cindy - I'm with Mike on the Gu. I'd be grabbing a bunch for the next LR.

Hello to everyone I missed!

No runs today. I spent the day trudging through a city (Philly) golf course that we are working on. I almost ended up falling down a hill right into a muddy creek...fun stuff. I guess it beats sitting in the office all day.

Lou

Hi Guys!

I hope everyone is doing well.

Dave - Any plans to test out the hip soon?

Jodi - When are you thinking about coming down?

I'm glad you had so much fun on the fake hills. I set that sucker on pretty much flat and leave it there.

You ever check out the weekly thread? There are a couple of people slogging through the Chi Chi book. I actually read the introduction tonight. Something tells me it's not as simple as he makes it sound in the first 10 pages.

Lou - You do understand that we are talking about running tights. Not nylons and satin hot pants. We're not expecting you to go running down the Skuykill in a modified Hooters outfit!

Helloo to everyone else.

I was scheduled for an easy 5 miles Thursday. I dropped the girlies off at dance and ended up running 6.4 miles around the normal loop I do there. Just happy to be moving, I guess (actually just too lazy to figure out a 5 mile route instead).

Happy Friday and all that jazz.

Hi PoopyHeads!:lmao:

Yesterday i ran 6 miles. i don't know about today.

Ooh, short and sweet weekend posts?:)

Hi McPhillymacs,

It's warm here today.

3 miles walking.

DH is officially registered for Boston.

So is Lance Armstrong...hmmmm....maybe I should go now!:thumbsup2

Toodles, ThetaBetaGamma

Oh, forgot to ask who has a SLR camera and knows how to use it?

Guess what I got for Valentine's Day??? I have trouble figuring out what buttom to push my point and shoot:rotfl: , don't know why DH thinks I could learn how to use a Nikon SLR.:confused3

Anyway, I want it to take multiple shots of the kids swimming in swim meets. I have played around with it a bit, but can't get the settings correct, either blurry action shots or too dark when I increase the shutter speed.:confused3

Hi everyone! :wave2:

I ran 3 miles at a 8:29 pace yesterday. Classes are in full swing but most of the projects haven't hit just yet. I am going to get miles in when I can. Looking forward to Philly with everyone!

:grouphug:

Howard

What's up? Everyone too busy training to post?

Sara - Now I'm mad! I see you popping in on other threads but you can't even give us a little waving smiley?

Toodles, ThetaBetaGamma

So Lance is incentive enough for you to go? Maybe by then you'll figure out how to use your swanky new camera and can take is picture as he zooms past.

Sorry, but I have no picture taking advice. I do however, have a photographic memory. I can shine a flashlight up my a** and show you some crappy slides of Cindy's castle :lmao: .

Howard - How are classes so far? Glad to see you are getting at least a little break. Good job getting some miles in. Tell Cam I said hey!

Jodi - No witty back and forth? Everything O.K.?

Hello to all the other MIA McCheesesteaks.

I switched up the weekend schedule a bit. I'll do my 18 mile LR on Monday. Got 8 in on the TM this evening (Weather was nice but I was too lazy to go outside).

Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars. (Somehow that works better for Casey Kasem than for me:confused3 .)

Hi all! I'm taking a break from working on a memo for work that I was supposed to have done about 3 weeks ago.:confused3

Ran 10 yesterday. Race-sim = 6 miles easy, 4 miles race pace plus 20 to 30 seconds. It was a hard run but I did it. My legs felt tired from the start. The little blister I got last week came back in a big way. It is now about the size of an Oreo cookie and very squishy. Seriously gross. DH thinks I need to pop it to drain the fluid, but I hate to do that. I'm not easily grossed out, but for some reason, popping a blister really bothers me.

Ran 4 today and taped up my foot. It helped for about half a mile . . . I probably should have turned around, but I am determined to stick to my schedule for the Half. Seeing as I can't even walk without it hurting, I guess I am going to have to do something about it.

Mike - 18 miles seems really far. Makes me really happy I'm doing the half. Good luck.

Hi Howard :wave2:

Colleen - I have an SLR and kind of know how to use it. When we got it DH and I actually went to the zoo for an entire day to play around with the settings for different light levels and moving versus non-moving subjects (animals) and the different lenses. I've mainly learned that the night setting is good when it is shady, that you can't use some shutter speeds without a tripod, and that often the automatic setting will take a better picture than whatever special setting I try to create! I don't know that I can give you any advice - I think its a lot of trial and error (for hours) - at least you can delete all the crappy shots!

Jodi
- How'd your weekend go? Any running? Are you coming down to the lovely District of Colombia?

Dave - Is the hip any better?

Lou - Hi - try not to fall off of any golf courses this week.

I have to work tomorrow, which irrates the $#%@ out of me because DH has the day off. (of course, I am working today, on a Sunday, so it seems kind of silly to be upset about tomorrow).

Mike - Just learned something - time to update your siggie - It is now the SunTrust National Marathon (guess they dumped Wirefly or Wirefly dumped them)

Mike - 18 miles seems really far.
Uhmm... yes it is.

I pilfered the siggie from a pop-up add on marathonguide.com. I'll have to jump over there to see if it's changed.

You suppose the medals were all Wireflied up? Maybe Suntrust has some leftover stuff from Richmond that they can pawn off on us.

Sorry you have (and had) to work.

Sara - Now I'm mad! I see you popping in on other threads but you can't even give us a little waving smiley?
:wave2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:
Okay, I admit to posting about our dear teammate and her surgery as well as the drama on the main thread but I am not much of a runner these days so I hesitate to post here:confused3 . I can't stand my neverending leg issue and the fact that I can't commit to an endurance event at this time. The fact that you're busting out 18 mile LR's is making me insane with wallowing in my own misery:scared1: Aren't you sorry you said anythingpopcorn:: ? I'm going to go cry now in my bed but I will be back to post later to all if I can pull myself out of this depression:laughing: ...

ONLY 43 Days until registration begins for the 2008 PHILADELPHIA MARATHON!! :yay: :thumbsup2
