Colleen - First, I noticed I wasn't mentioned in you last post. I believe I now know which list I'm on. I will work very hard to get back in your good graces:worship: .

Second, buy the tickets. Having an event in the nearer future to look forward to may just the ticket to get you going again.

Third, how did DH's run go?

1. Mike, wow, you are a hard worker! ;) FRIENDS!

2. I am pretty close to buying my flight to Minnie, also thinking about AP rates as well. You know when some things are a no-brainer and you just do it! Well for some reason something is nagging at me about Minnie weekend and I don't know what it is.

DD8 had a Girl Scout campout last year on that weekend, I remember because that is the reason I couldn't do Flying Pig. But she has lost interest in Scouts now that she is a blossoming swimmer.

3. Well, DH's run went OK, he is talking walk breaks about every 2 miles to stretch, but he did get 10 miles in.

Funny story, we were talking last night about Boston. He was thinking a good time to register would be in about a month after he gets a good 16 and 18 miler in.:thumbsup2

I went onto Runners world.com and I guy there posted that the 20,200 runners have already registered and it will probably fill within the next week.:scared1: DH quickly ran upstairs to his office to find his deferral letter from last year to register online. HE CAN'T, it has to be mailed in! He completed the form, wrote the check and we walked it down to the post office this afternoon so it could get to Hopkinton, MA within a few days.:scared:

I guess we will wait and see!

As for me, I got in another 4 miles walking today. I plan to start going to 6 am yoga now that I am working girl!

Good night McPhillies!

Hey everyone!

I went onto Runners world.com and I guy there posted...
Colleen - Are you stepping out on us?:sad2:

How did yoga go? Any massages, scented oils, palm-frond fanning Chippendale-type guys feeding you grapes? ;)

Are you working every day?

I hope DH's application get processed in time and he's healthy come race day.

I just got back from a pleasant 6 miles. It's burrrr cold out but sunny and not too windy. My face was a little cold but pretty good overall.

Catch ya' later!

Colleen - Are you stepping out on us?:sad2:

:rotfl: I lurked over there a bit last year when DH was registered to run 2007 Boston. Good thing I was lurking b/c that was the only way we found out that his entry could be deferred until this year. He is eternally indebted to me because ...shhh!....I don't think he could pump out another BQ time.

I am pretty much DH's hero!

Mike
I just may have to break out Lime Green Loincloth Part Deux for the Minnie.

Sunday's 14 miles went good. I averaged 11:28, which included 3 water breaks. Temps were in the upper 70's and the humidity was really dry - upper 30%. The first quarter was kind of fun. I kept passing and getting passed by a Dad out bike riding with his 2 young sons. I usually don't have company during this portion of my run.

This week:
Tuesday 4
Wednesday 7
Thursday 4
Saturday 7
Sunday 15

Happy and Healthy training to all.

Hey everyone...

Quick post as I try to wolf down my lunch at work. It's insanely cold here today (20 degrees which is cold in NJ) so I am back inside on the TM again. Kicked out 4 easy miles this morning in 38:10. I had the thing set at 6 (10 min/mile) but cranked it up to 7.0 for the last mile because I was bored.

Not a whole lot exciting to report on. Next race for me is 3/9 (1/2 in DE), there is no more football on Sunday, and baseball hasn't even started. This is, by far, the worst time of the year but it's almost over.

Lou

Hey Folks: Not much for me to report. I did 20 min on the exercise bike yesterday. I wasn't really into it, and didn't feel like doing any more. Things are still very much up in the air about my job - which is why I'm teaching at this neighboring college. I was hopeful there might be a more permanent position for me here, but unfortunately the most promising door to that closed. Shoot. I was very dissapointed yesterday, didn't feel like exercising, and DW and I took the kiddos out to eat instead...

Quick (almost) all about me post. I had a great run this morning. Intervals:
2 miles at half marathon pace
2 x 1 mile at 10k pace
2 x 800 meters at 5k pace

It was pretty cold (It was 20 something degrees and feels like 15 at 6 when I went out) but not too bad.

I have now decided that I don't intend to join the gym this year (thus saving the money to pay for more races and Disney trips!) and it is my official goal to get through the winter without having to use a treadmill. (I've probably now jinxed myself and we will have a blizzard next week or something).

Dave - I hope everything works out for you.:wizard::hug: It sounds like dinner with your family was probably a better choice than the bike yesterday.

:wave2: Checking in with the family:grouphug:

Had the EMG yesterday and the Dr. says it all looks great. Well, that's good but it doesn't solve my issue:headache: . So I guess it's back to the ortho to see where we go from here. MRI anytime would be great:rolleyes1 . Actually, the pain seems to have moved down my leg a bit which gives me some comfort in thinking it's a muscular or a tendon/ligament thing. Perhaps some physical therapy may be all I need to fix me up. I did run this morning and will continue to do so on a reduced basis as long as I am not in agony as a result. It doesn't ever hurt when I run and even on days I don't run it hurts just from being on my leg. SilverSteve do you have any words of wisdom and/or words of caution?

Cindy - I hope you didn't jinx yourself but I love the fact that you're nixing the gym membership to save pennies for WDW trips:thumbsup2 . Great job on the run this morning:banana: .

Dave - Sending lots of :wizard: your way. I am sure you realize that everything will all work out in the end as it should:hug: . Glad you decided to spend time with family to lift your spirits yesterday and bagged the workout. I am sure it fed your soul far more than a workout would have.

Lou - Nice job on your run:cool1: . I'm right there with you counting the days until Spring. We're expecting about a foot of snow tonight. Hopefully 3/9 will come quickly for you!

Chester - Sweet job on the 14 miles:cheer2: . Your training plan for the week looks real good:thumbsup2

Colleen, Jodi, Mike - :wave2:

I called the Embassy Suites yesterday and got the same answer as before. I will check with them for the room rate weekly until they get sick of me:laughing: .

Happy training to all this week:cheer2:

Sara - glad to hear that it is not nerve damage, but sorry that you still don't have any answers.

Same! I am sure you will be able to find out what's happening. SO glad you are giving it some rest.

Dave, you too, glad you are resting your hip.

Cindy, I am very impressed with your intervals. AH, the good ol' days.

Chester, wow, you are kicking out some big miles again and that daily running makes me fatigued just reading it. Again, ah, I remember those days so fondly...good times.

Jodi, we miss you around these parts.:)

Hi Mike, SilverSteve,.

Angela, you need to check in more often!:thumbsup2

Very exciting day today, I just handed in my first time sheet at work!! Ah, the life of a elementary school cafeteria table washer just gets better and better.:dance3:

Yes, Mike, forgot to answer your question earlier, yes, I work everyday for 2 hours.:thumbsup2 Maybe I will look into job sharing if this job gets too strenuous for me.:lmao: Wipe on, wipe off.

Cindy, Lou, Chester, Jodi, Colleen, Mike & friends....Thanks for the warm welcome!!:goodvibes

Sorry I've been a slacker with posting. My company is currently reorganizing so it's been really busy & stressful. :scared:

Chester-I live in NW Tampa, close to the Westchase/Citrus Park area.
I've never been to Philly before. I'll definitely keep it in mind.
By the way, Great runs! I wish I had your discipline. :yay: And well...the green loincloth? I'm afraid to ask.

Mike-So far, the Minnie 15K is the only race I've registered for besides Goofy 2009. I wouldn't mind doing a few more though. I definitely need to kick it up a notch. That whole work/life balance thing can get a little tricky.:upsidedow

Theta-Congrats on the mileage! How's the yoga?
I don't care what Mike says about you...you seem normal to me. Well...considering the source I don't know if that's very comforting.

Hopefully my next post will contain some sort of running.

TTFN...

Hi Guys,

Sara - Good to hear no nerve damage. If it's moving down maybe it's just a matter of time before the pain falls out the bottom of your foot:thumbsup2 . Seriously, I hope you get some answers soon. Thanks for your weekly room rate check.

How are the kids?

Lou - Sorry you had to hit the TM. This is kind of a boring time of year, sports-wise for a lot of folks. Luckily, I've always been a NASCAR fan so this is a good time of year for me.

Cindy - When did you post about not needing a TM? When did the ice storm start? I'm pretty sure you jinxed my tempo run for the morning unless it warms up quite a bit (I was actually thinking the same thing about it being a long time since I've had to hit the TM but didn't dare say anything).

Good job on your speedwork.

Dave - Keep your head up, buddy. I'm sure things are gonna work out.

Chester - Nice job putting the miles in! Loin cloth part deux:rotfl: Hey, maybe the Eye-to-eye shirt people could print you up a cool graphic version!

Angela - Good to see you become more of a regular. I hope the job calms down and you can get back in the swing of running again.

Now, did I ever say Colleen wasn't normal?:confused3 . Only not normal in that she is extra special terrific!!

Colleen - Yippee for the first time-sheet. I'm not sure what they pay you, but it's not enough. I went in to have lunch with DD7 once a few months ago. I couldn't hear anything for 2hrs afterward.:scared1: Kind of like a rock concert without the wafting smell of illegal substances (being only elementary school and all).

I won't tell your DH about your TOTAL lack of confidence in his BQ ability. Tssk, tssk.

Jodi - Where are you? You're not sinking back into the abyss are you?

SilverSteve - How's the knee? Still tender from your race?

Amy, SteveOH, Howard, Scott, Kira, and anyone else who happens by:wave2:

Sara - Not sure what to say about the leg. It's good that you can still run on it but it would be nice to know what the deal is. Hopefully you'll get some answers soon and get healthy. Don't overdo it.

Jodi - Are you out there? Come in Jodi. Over.

Colleen - Congrats on getting past the first week. I give you credit because that could be an interesting job, depending on the school and the kids. I just have pictures of my high school days in my head and I know I would not want to be in my old lunch room.

Angela - Welcome back!

Cindy - Great job on getting outside. I have done the LRs in the cold but I can't seem to get outside for the short runs during the week. 20 degrees and wind is too much for me. Nice job on the run too. I hear you on saving $$$ for these races.

Dave - Sorry about the job issues. What do you teach? It's tough to get motiviated when you have job issues hanging over your head. Hopefully things will go your way soon.

Mike - Philly is pretty much a 4-sport town. NASCAR gets to Dover, DE but that is the Mason Dixon line as far as we are concerned. College b-ball can be interesting but our teams are down this year. Just waiting for Spring Training to get started.

Chester, Stevex2, Howard, Amy - Hey!

Lou

:rotfl: Lou, sorry you must have missed the jab or two Mike laid into me earlier, I am not really the lunch room lady, again it is all Mike's fault...the school asked me to tutor some of it's 5th graders in an attempt to help them pass their standardized end of grade (EOG) tests. I am little over qualiified with a math degree and I am getting paid peanuts, but I am doing it for the good of the kids and the community school. ;) Actually, I am starting to really enjoy it now that I'm seeing A LOT of progress in the students. I am teaching them skills that will really help them when they start their first Algebra course.:thumbsup2

I tutor 7 kids who did not pass their EOG's last year, so I am shooting for at least 5 of them to pass this year.:)

Okay, I'll feel stupid now. I must have missed those posts.

That's a lot better then the lunch room mom job but I don't mean to offend those lunch room moms that may be out there.

Hey guys, I'm still here, sober & sane (relatively speaking).

Sara - I'm glad there's no nerve damage, but it WOULD be nice figure out what the deal is:confused3 . Have you been self-massaging:rolleyes1 , soaking in hot tubs w/ epsom salt? Any accupuncturists up there? How does it feel after running ('cause I KNOW you've been running:laughing: ).

Colleen - I KNEW you were a hair-net wearing math geek. I'm happy you're able to see the progress in the kids, makes it the paltry sum they're paying all worth while, no? Have you felt like exercising at all lately? You need to sign up for a race, woman. How are YOU feeling? Any thoughts to start a run/walk program again?

Mike - How did I know that you'd enjoy watching cars drive around in circles?:3dglasses . How's the training & motivation? Are you working at all this week? How's Kathy & how come she doesn't post here? Have you signed up for the full or the half yet for that run you & Cindy are running?

Lou - Duuude, whazUP? You're going to DL for the half, aren't you? Hmmmm.....:cool2: I could wear sunglasses @ that race! You know, if you buy tights like Mike's you could run outside when it's 20 degrees...:rotfl:

Cindy - Nice way to get out there:thumbsup2 . What's on tap for you this weekend? Does the plan your on have you running any 20 milers b4 the marathon?

Dave - Things will work out, take a deep breath. And way to hang in w/ training by biking. I'd just start drinking liquor & eating chocolate if I was faced with not being able to run....:) Going out to dinner was definitely the thing to do last week, sometimes the mental breaks are more important than the physical ones. Philly's so far away it's hard to get motivated.

Hello to SteveS, Angela, & Chester

Not much to tell here. After my life-changing 10 miles on Sat. I ran a cheesy 4 on Sun. & it was back to sucking. Mon. off, yesterday 5 felt ok (but it was freakin' COLD). Today it's a real mess outside...snow/ice/rain/poopy in the streets...so I'll hit the gym & go on the dredmill & do that hill crap I did last week:confused3 . I don't think it helps, but I make pretend it does:yay: .

Lou - Duuude, whazUP? You're going to DL for the half, aren't you? Hmmmm.....:cool2: I could wear sunglasses @ that race! You know, if you buy tights like Mike's you could run outside when it's 20 degrees...:rotfl:

Jodi - You should run DL. :cool2: I've been pondering DL for years and all it took was a Disney email to get me. I figured I had 8 months to scrounge up the $$$$. I used to work for a company that is based closed to DL so I also have time to come up with a way to conduct some business out there. No tights for me. I'll stick to baggy shorts and just do the TM until spring.

:sad2: Poor Lou, trying to be all supportive of lunch lady Colleen :rotfl:

Colleen - First time sheet must mean first paycheck which means you should get something nice for yourself, perhaps a trip to the Minnie?

Angela - I'm glad we haven't scared you away!

Cindy - When did you post about not needing a TM? When did the ice storm start? I'm pretty sure you jinxed my tempo run for the morning unless it warms up quite a bit (I was actually thinking the same thing about it being a long time since I've had to hit the TM but didn't dare say anything).

Yeah, as I was "walking" home from the Metro late last night I was wondering what the heck I had been thinking . . . I say "walking" because the entire sidewalk was a sheet of ice and I literally had to shuffle along without picking my feet up so that I didn't fall over. And I still almost fell! At least I don't drive in to work. It took people from my office who normally have 20-30 minute commutes south on 395 3 to 4 hours to get home. Luckily today was a rest day for me. I hope your run was ok. It seems to just be raining and generally gross outside.

Cindy - Does the plan your on have you running any 20 milers b4 the marathon?

Glad you are still sane. I'm running the half not the full. I'm really happy about that. I am enjoying doing the speed work rather than just piling on the mileage. It is a nice change of pace (no pun intended). The longest run in my training plan is 16 miles.

:wave2: to everyone else!
