Mike - Ya know, I was thinkin' the same thing about "Hallmark Sara", but didn't have the guts to say it. I DARE you to repeat those words her @ mile 7, even!:lmao: :scared1: . You better run fast! It's impossible for a MAN to have that inner chi, it's something ya'll must be taught - you're too stubborn!;)

Colleen - Signed up for your pacing thread!:hippie:

TurkeyLink - Gator Skin Tights????popcorn:: I love the CWX...let me know what the Race Ready tights are like..did you get the Long Distance ones with all the sparky pockets??:yay:

Cindy - Bye!

Sara - Stay calm this holiday & no exercise:rotfl2: .

Dave - :headache: DOH! Mike's right, someone's got a wicked pitching career in their future! .

Did my speed hill work this am (although I only went up the hill 3x) & it's official, I hate that lactic threshold feeling:laughing: . Oh well, it's over now. Must get ready to hit the open highway! (As if). Check back in on Friday, guys! Happy Eating!!

Hey, you know I do yoga and meditate daily so I am all peace-loving and for the greater good of mankind:hippie: Just not when I am racing:rotfl: My accupuncturist tells me I need to balance out my ying and yang:confused3

Mike - Yes, I was :rotfl2: early this morning when I read your post. At WDW in January I had carried in my race pack thank you notes for DH and DD's that I gave them at mile 23 infront of the Beach Club as I stopped to kiss them:love: . Enjoy the time with those nearest and dearest to you:hug: .

Dave - Thanks for checking in:yay: Sorry about the baseball incident:wizard: Glad you're resting comfortably:cheer2:

Colleen - The Turkey Trot went great:banana:

Chester - Have a blast working the Turkey Trot:woohoo: .

In case I can't check in again, I am very thankful for you guys:grouphug:

Hey Everyone: I am at work today. I wanted to tell everyone to travel safely this week if you are travelling.

I second what Sara said - I'm thankful for all my teammates here too. I've gotten so much support from all of you this year. You guys are the best. :thumbsup2

Jodi
I have just plain black tights from Race Ready. I was afraid that if I got the Long Distance tights, that the mesh pockets would look like ruffles on my butt.

Mike
Calling out crazy numbers is a good idea. I'll let you know how it goes over with the runners.

Dave
I like to do my share and volunteer at a couple of events a year. I know how hard it is for race committees to get people to help when they all want to race.

Colleen
We have an 18 year old son who is a freshman in the Architecture program at the University of Florida. We've only got one daughter who just turned sixteen. She is a Junior in High School.

With my daughter driving now, it has really opened up my free time. I'm no longer needed to to take her to and from school and to take to soccer practices. After 12 years of Baseball, Soccer, Football, Cheerleading, Wrestling, Gymnastics and Marching Band all I've got now is HS Soccer games a couple of times a week. I already miss those times.

I had a good progressive interval 5 miles last night. Average pace was 9:59, and my fastest mile (5th) was 8:19. I think that is my fastest recorded mile.

Happy Thanksgiving Holidays to all,

Chester

Ruffle-butt tights, cute on babies. Full grown men, not so much! Prudent choice Chester.

Hey!! Congrats on the fastest mile! It kind of jazzes you up, doesn't it?

Sara - I would never question your love for your family. I know it's just us that you don't like out there on the course;) .

My accupuncturist tells me I need to balance out my ying and yang:confused3
I always thought that I couldn't talk about my ying or my yangs in mixed company, but if Sara's got them (even if they are out of balance) I'm really confused:confused3 :rolleyes1 .

It's impossible for a MAN to have that inner chi, it's something ya'll must be taught - you're too stubborn!;)
Jodi - But isn't the chi guru guy a... well, a guy? Are you telling me that it's all a scam? How can it be, Jodi? I've changed my whole approach to running based on the teachings of a con artist?

First my ying and yangs. Now my chi? This has been a very upsetting day:sad2: .

Yikes!! Thread killer or what?

:rotfl: Sorry I didn't post yesterday, I was busy walking 17 miles!

I did it and actually get the same high I felt the first time I ran 17 miles! :yay: Very interesting feeling that I have accomplished something brand new. I am kind of excited about getting into tris next year!:thumbsup2

Here are the details: I want to try and walk/run with Mel (Chimera) and Jen during the marathon, so I thought I better give this knee a test drive with some intervals. I walked/ran the first 8 miles and finished that in 1:42! Very happy with that. I could feel my knee aching a bit and my shin on my good leg was starting to ache and then I thought, ah wait, I haven't ran in 6 weeks, maybe I should take this easy! So I walked the remaining 9 miles and finished all 17 miles in 3:55. Again, very happy with my effort and hopefully I can still pull out a sub 6 hour marathon.:woohoo:

AWESOME, WTG Colleen. I was up at 5am yesterday for my LR, and once again didn't make it out the door. Oh no, I'm losing my fitness. I have all kinds of excuses for why I didn't run, but that's what they are just excuses. I need to find something to train for (before Philly that is) before I totally retreat back to the couch.

Is everyone still asleep in a turkey stupor, or what??:confused3 :rotfl:

Colleen - WOW, that's quite the pace & accomplishment!:thumbsup2 I'll say it again, I really don't think I could muster the mental guts to do what you're doing! Congrats!:yay: :dance3:

So, how was everyones Thanksgiving??? Martha's Vineyard was great! Surprisingly we hit NO traffic whatsoever on Weds. afternoon...none on Friday's return, either. The houses my brother rented were beautiful & within walking distance to the beach! Thanksgiving a.m. the entire family (except my 3 prima donna nieces ages 19-21:rolleyes: ) played a game of touch football, it was that warm!! What fun! This'll go down as one of the best Thanksgivings in recent memory! Hope everyone elses was as enjoyable!

Didn't run on Thurs or Fri. (2 hours of football for CT;) ). Yesterday I did 8 & it felt pretty good - although very cold (not complaining)! Today I plan on 5 or so, just to get the week started, or end it, on a good note. Then I'll go grocery shopping...whoopee!:woohoo: . I HATE grocery shopping!

Dave - Talk to Chester about getting Tracy's bib for the 1/2...NOW! That'll get you motivated for your long runs!:rolleyes1

Just caught up in the holiday stupor and recovering from the 18 miler yesterday:thumbsup2

Jodi - Glad to hear your holiday at the beach was awesome and that the weather was so cooperative:banana: . I hope the 5 miles were good to you today.

Dave - You have every right to give yourself some time off without sweating it! Honestly, I will be glad once WDW is behind me so I can let my body have a break and properly recover. Just enjoy the holidays with your family and then focus on getting back at it.

Colleen - :cheer2: You rock girl!! I love your plan to walk/run with Mel and Jen. Congrats on the LR:woohoo: . Moving onto the tri sounds like a great idea.

Mike - :confused3 I can't even comment right now...However, I do have an announcement to make. DH said he was going to do a one month crash training for the 1/2 and he'd walk it if he had to:scared1: .

Chester - Enjoy your newly acquired free time and nice job on the sub 9:00 min/mi:cool1: .

So the 18 felt pretty good yesterday but the leg wasn't too happy with me. I do feel real beat today so I am trying to take it easy. I really wish I'd get my WDW race program sometime soon:mad: .

I hope everyone had a great holiday and good LR's this weekend:cheer2: .

Hi Everyone,

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I had posted a message on Thanksgiving morning, but I guess it found its way to cyberspace purgatory as it is nowhere to be seen.

Trash day is tomorrow; all remaining leftover mashed potato will be discarded (because it calls to me from the fridge with its siren's song. :headache: )

Took today off as I believe DD5 has passed along her cold/fever to me. I did get my LR of 18 in on Tuesday and followed with 8 on Wed.; I had to get the LR in early because I knew I wouldn't find the time with all my crazy relatives visiting for the holiday. Did I say "crazy?" I meant "dear" :rolleyes1 .

Have a great week everyone! (There, I have ushered in the holiday season with a festive red font :) )

Chester - Hey yeh, I forgot to comment on that speedy mileage!!:thumbsup2 . What give, dude??:confused3 I can't run that fast:goodvibes ! You're my hero, even though you didn't get the Long Distance shorts from Race Ready! You could've had the frilly things;)

Sara - Uh, was I supposed to run 18 yesterday? I think I dropped the 1 from in front:confused3 :rotfl2: . WTG:thumbsup2 . I know your leg acted up, but how did it go up in the head? That's what's really been bothering me lately...it's like the monotony of it all is getting to me:confused: . Perhaps I should use an ipod for a while.

Steve - :santa: Hope those potatoes leave you alone!:lmao:

Question out there for all you Garmin owners. As some of you know, I have the ancient Garmin 101 that weighs about six pounds; my DH wants to get me a new one for x-mas, I know you guys own the newer ones, so I'm looking for a review on the 201 & 301...any input would be appreciated:surfweb: . Thanks

My 5 miles today was kinda beat! After 3 miles I stopped & walked for 3 minutes, then continued on...Go figure!:rotfl: I think I'll take tomorrow off, it's supposed to rain anyhow. I guess next week I'll do 16, or is it 18?

Jodi, get the 305, a lot more accurate than the 200 series.

Ultra Robert posted a great Garmin deal at Costco.

Welcome back everyone!!

Colleen - Great job on the 17 miles. How's the knee feeling?

Sara - Yippee for Mike! I'm sure he can pull it together in time. WTG on the 18 miles, boo for the leg. Is true rest the prescribed treatment for your stress fracture? BTW, no race packets our way either.

Jodi - I'm glad that you had a great Thanksgiving. Has all the training helped with your football skills? Sorry you're having trouble getting your head in the game. Don't sweat it too much. It'll come (or not). Either way, you'll be fine for WDW.

As for the Garmin: I know nothing of the 201 or 301. I have a 205. The 205 and 305 are exactly the same except the 305 has the HR monitor (and comes in stylish red vs. blue). I agree with Colleen. Check out the deal from Costco.com for the 305 that Robert posted a thread on. That one would be hard to beat.

Dave - Enjoy a little downtime! There's nothing wrong with skipping a couple of LR's. You're still getting some runs in and staying fit. Enjoy the extra time and don't let it hang over your head.

Steve - I thought I avoided all the leftover bliss since we had dinner at the in-laws and brought nothing home except for some pie. But... The family went back to said in-laws today while I was sleeping and brought home the full-on leftovers. Let's just say that Thanksgiving dinner is now officially gone and I am experiencing gravy induced euphoria!

Chester - Did you survive the weekend?

Rest day today for me after a measly 12 miles yesterday (those measly 12 miles kicked my behind, for your info). 5 on tap for Monday morning.

Happy Monday!!

I thought I was off to a great morning with 4.5 miles on the TM feeling real good. Then I went and got myself into a car accident:car: on some black ice so it went downhill real fast:mad: :lmao:

Luckily no one was hurt, my car only has a blown tire and the fence I took out was made of rotten wood so I am hoping I won't have to file a claim. I did have to call the police to fill out a report and tow my car. There was a nice lady who saw the whole thing and I think she was more shook up than I was:rotfl: . I was consoling her:rotfl2: .

Mike - I will give my leg total rest after WDW. That's the main reason I decided to bag the Pig for 2008. I know I am training on borrowed time and need to let my body totally recover and heal as soon as I can (1/14).

Jodi - I have the same Garmin as Mike and I really like it:thumbsup2 .

Steve - Nice job on the 18 & 8:woohoo: . :wizard: for kicking that cold your DD was kind enough to share with you!

It's month-end so I'd better get at it since I was late getting in today for obvious reasons. Luckily DH and I only work about 2 blocks away from each other so carpooling isn't that much of an inconvenience.

Happy training to all this week:cheer2:

Sara - :scared1: So glad you're ok!! I told you to slow down...Hope all the insurance & stuff doesn't present a problem, the main thing is that no one was hurt:wizard: . I hate it when things like that happen, what a way to start the week:sad2: . I'm just glad they didin't turn your stress fx into a REAL fx:laughing: ; seriously though, take it easy the rest of today, sometimes you don't feel those aches & pains from an MVA until the next day. And you can STILL relish in the fact that you got 4.5 in this am on the dreadmill:banana: .

Thanks for all the Garmin info, I saw that post for the Costco pricing & will definitely order from there..uh, i mean DH will order from there:lmao: , as soon as he learns to turn a computer on:rolleyes: .

Steve - Don't know how I missed the fact that you ran 18, then 8:cool1: , WOW, congrats! That's a good little 2 days of running, buddy, keep it up!

Mike - Are you officially sick of leftovers now? WTG on getting 12 done, I know what you mean about the buttkicking-thing. It seems every time I go over 10 or so I just fizzle out. But i'm sure my positive attitude will break through soon & I'll be fine:lmao: . (Yeh, right, I've been waiting for that positive thing to kick in for 40 years now).

Well, since you guys are doin' all these long runs & guess I gotta do 16 on Sat.:headache: YIPES!

:wave2: I'm back from San Diego. We actually landed at midnight, but it took almost an hour and a half to get our luggage  so I didn't get home until 2:00AM. Then slept for a few hours and then into work for a crazy day - probably going to be here until late into the night again. I haven't had a chance to catch up on all the posts I missed - I did skim them while eating lunch. Sara - That is scary. I'm glad you are ok.

My Turkey day race was great - free beer (yes at 8:30 in the am). I got a sort of PR - my old PR was 26:08 and my watch for this race was 25:57 but official time (gun time) was 26:31, so I don't feel that I can count it as a real PR - I guess that means I'll just have to run another fast (for me) 5k.

Disneyland was great - the Christmas decorations were awesome and I loved, loved, loved holiday haunted mansion - I knew that they did that there, but I didn't realize how elaborate it was.

Got to get back to work. I will catch up later, although it might not be until the weekend - I have to go to Kansas City for work this week.

I hope you all had great Thanksgivings!

Colleen
Congratulations on the new sense of accomplishment with your walking pace. I'm also thinking about giving a tri a try next year. Probably will be the Sept one at Disney or a local sprint distance tri.

Dave
Print out a calendar with training distances on it for an imaginary marathon. Keep it where you have to look at it every day so that you won't be tempted to cheat, but also realize that it can be adjusted to meet family obligations.

Sara and Jodi
Thanks for the props on the fastest mile. Now I'll have to see if I can pull off a sub 8:00.

Jodi
I have a Garmin 305 and I'd be lost without it. If you aren't interested in keeping track of your heart rate, then get the 205.

Mike
I survived the long weekend. Thursday morning was manning the mile marks at the 5 ile Turkey Trot. I did manage to throw out some odd numbers - just not what I expected. I would call out the time every 5 seconds and sometimes I'd forget to update the minute ie, 20 min 50 sec, 20 min 22 sec, 20 min 60 sec, 20 min 65 sec oops 21 min 10 sec...

Cindy
Welcome back.

Saturday morning I cranked out 8 miles at marathon pace and then cross trained by trail riding on the dirt bike for three hours while DS chased me on his ATV.

Sunday I completed 16 miles, but it wasn't pretty. I waited too late to leave and the humidity got up to 90% at 9:00am. The first 8 miles weren't too bad, but I had a hard time restarting for the second half. After the 12 mile point, I buckled down and churned it out.

The weekend ended with a 3 hour trip to Gainesville to return DS to UF and then a 3 hour ride home.

This weeks planned runs:
Tuesday 5
Wednesday 5
Thursday 5
Saturday 9
Sunday 18

Healthy training to all,

Chester
W.I.S.H. Half-Fast Missing Link Marathon Team

Cindy - Welcome back! Great job on the pseudo-PR. Sorry you had baggage recovery issues. What kind of work do you do? Whatever it is, you work too hard!

Sara - How are you feeling today? Very scary about your accident! I hope everything is O.K.

Chester - Wow, you did have a busy week last week. Way to geat those miles in. That sounds like fun XT. I haven't rode a dirt bike since I was a kid but have spent some time on snowmobiles and ATV's as an old man. It's a lot of work!

My 5 miles turned into 9+ yesterday. I went out to the battlefield to do a little trail running and followed the briddle trail. Lots of ups and downs and maniacal (sp?) squirrels:rotfl: . My knees were achey and my feet hurt, but it was lots of fun.

So my 8 today will turn into 5 and all will be well.

Have fun everyone.

Good Morning Teammates:)

Feeling good this morning so I got in a few miles and some yoga. I'll have to put in some more time on the TM tonight but it's all good:thumbsup2

Mike - The trail run does sound like lots of fun. I hope the aches and pains are short-lived:wizard: .

Chester - Sorry about the bummer 16 miler:hug: . Whenever I get mad about running in the frigid temps in NY I think about the FL alternative with the humidity and it puts it in perspective for me. You definitely earn major style points for sticking it out on your LR's:cool1: Your schedule for the week looks great.

Cindy - Welcome home and congrats on the Turkey Day PR:woohoo: !! The DL Haunted Mansion Christmas overlay is awesome and I am so glad that the WDW Haunted Mansion renovation made it more like DL's. Travel safe to KC and we'll see you soon!

Jodi - My Dad sprung for 4 new tires for an early Christmas present for me so the car is as good as new. DH is going to work some magic with the guy who owns the fence I mowed down so I am feeling real blessed today. Are you going to do 18 on Saturdaypopcorn:: ?

Who actually has their WDW race program at this point:mad: ? Not to get on my soapbox but when the race entry fees are so outrageous you'd think they could get them out in October like they used to instead of December. Bah Humbug:rolleyes1 .
