Ah, tranquility!

OK, I used 2 new batteries for the smoke detector in the master bedroom and I could still hear chirping.:confused3

I finally figured this out. I feel so stupid, the chirping was from the walk-in closet just arond the corner! There was another smoke detector just 3 feet away!:rolleyes1 Who would put two smoke detectors so close together?

Just time for a quick :wave2: while I wait in my office for the right moment to leave so that I don't have to wait extra in the metro station waiting for the next train (only come every 12 minutes at this time of day). Crazy busy day today at work. Did get in a quick 3 mile run this morning. Felt ok. I'll catch up later.

Good Morning McPhillies!
Lou - When do you actually leave for Philly?

Jodi - I leave for Philly on Sunday morning at 5AM. I only live 20 minutes away. I'm in Philly 2-3 times a week.

This week I have been in Atlantic City for a conference which has been a nice distraction. Rather then thinking about the marathon I have been enjoying our version of Las Vegas.

Lou - Best of luck this weekend and I will definitely be thinking of you on Sunday:cheer2: . Glad to hear you've been able to keep your mind off the miles by partaking in the distractions:lmao: .

Colleen - :rotfl2: Sorry to be amused at your circumstance but who would have thought that could happen?! At least the incessant chirping has come to an end:thumbsup2 .

Since I had little to no sleep the night I was in Baltimore:rolleyes1 and the night I got home (DH's snoring sent me to the couch:mad: ) I slept in today until 5 a.m. so no running. I did run last night so I am okay with just yoga for the day.

Happy training to all:cheer2:

Sara - Slept in to 5am??? You are so whacked!:lmao: . Getting up @ 5 am for me is almost impossible & would definitely mean I was either leaving for a trip or planning some heinously long run in the summer:rotfl: . Glad you'll be "ok" w/ just yoga. Umm, isn't it the person who is snoring that has to go to the couch?:rolleyes1 . (obviously i don't snore).

Lou - That's great that there isn't too much traveling for you to do this marathon! It's nice to sleep home the night b4 a marathon, although that doesn't generally happen...not for me anyway. I need a vacation all built around running 26 miles, otherwise, what's the point?:rotfl2: . Check in as soon as you can afterwards! I'll be sending :wizard: for you to enjoy the day!:woohoo: . Good luck!!

Cindy - You work too much!!:goodvibes . At 7:44 last night, while you were posting, I was in my pjs, sipping tea & watching SpongeBob:confused3. Yes, my son was with me!!

It's raining here today, but warm, so I may go for a quick run this afternoon. Conferences @ DS school, so I have to leave work @ 12:30. Seems a shame to have all that time in the afternoon & not make good use of it...although we could go see a movie, or just play board games, or...:rolleyes1 . My back is being a jerk still. I'm scheduled for the rack tomorrow @ 11am!:headache: Still not sure how far to go Sat. DH keeps saying "well go out & see how it feels" He doesn't understand that I'd always rather run 4 miles than 14, I have to be TOLD how far to run, left to my own devices I'll just sit & watch Saturday morning cartoons.:woohoo: BTW, anyone out there still remember when cartoons were only on back to back to back on Sat. mornings???:confused3 When I got home from school you'd maybe catch Bugs Bunny, then the Little Rascals & that was it...until Sat. of course. OK, sorry to go off on a tangent, I'm done.

Wow - I was all excited and proud of myself for getting up at 5:50 (the time my alarm was set so that I could run) and then when I got up and it was POURING and I decided not to run, I still got up and got ready for work instead of going back to bed. And then I read Sara's post about sleeping in until 5 . . .

I did, however, lug all of my running stuff to the office with me (including towel and shampoo, etc. so I can use the showers upstairs) hoping that I can escape and go for a run this afternoon since I got in so early.

Jodi - yeah, work has kind of sucked lately - late nights and weekends. I am so looking forward to having some time off for Thanksgiving. Oh and btw, there must be something wrong with the clock on my computer. I posted last night at around 8:20 not 7:44 (I was waiting to leave to catch the 8:34 train). I hope your back feels better. Do you want me to pick a distance and tell you to run it?

Dave - I'm sorry to hear that you don't think the Minnie Marathon thing is going to work out.

Also, I just registered for the Rock 'N' Roll marathon! Anyone care to join? It's 25 weeks before Philly (assuming I counted correctly) that leaves plenty of time to rest, recover and start training!

Back to work . . .

I like the name McPhillies!

Cindy - Yes, please, tell me how far to run Sat.!:rotfl: . So you registered for RockNRoll, huh? Man...I wanna go to that thing...anyone know how I can earn some xtra$?? CAREFUL, MIKE:lmao: . You too, Chester! I know Dave is too much of a gentleman..:rotfl2:

Jodi
Check in with Dave. Wasn't he our pole dancing expert?.
I'm on the way to the bank to get a stack of singles.

Chester

Good Afternoon McPhillies:cheer2: !!

Jodi - Isn't it the quiet types they say you have to watch out for? Dave may just put on a real good front:lmao: It looks like Chester is offering to help you in your quest for extra cash:rotfl: . :wizard: for your back and take it easy this weekend if it is still bothering you.

Cindy - Congrats on registering for the RNR 1/2:cool1: . With 3 kids I have to get up early to get all I have to do in. I won't sacrifice my run time so it is less painful than having to hear them complain if I have to hit the treadmill in the evening. I hope you're able to squeeze in a run today.

Dave - Did I miss something on the Minnie gig not working out for some reason:confused: .

I've got to go watch DD(10) do her Turkey Trot on my lunch hour today in a bit:banana: .

Good afternoon all,

Just a quick post; seems like several others are also having lousy weather. It was pouring here today, so 80 minutes on the treadmill.

My thoughts are with those nursing aches, pains, and injuries. pixiedust:

Take care. Happy training.

Link - Please fed-ex those unmarked stack of ones, ASAP!;)

Day 2 of no excercising...Um...just ran out of time.:confused3 No ambition? Pick whichever excuse you want...

Good Afternoon McPhillies:cheer2: !!
Dave - Did I miss something on the Minnie gig not working out for some reason:confused: .
Dave - I flipped back a few pages thinking I missed it as well. I haven't checked the other thread. Details?

Doesn't the McPhillies sound like a glue factory burger or something?:lmao:

Chester - Be sure to hold on to a few of those singles in case Dave does bust a move on a pole somewhere.

Cindy - I can't keep all the Rock 'n Rolls straight. Where is yours? San Diego?

Jodi - You HAVE TO run 37 miles Saturday. You have no choice. You have been told!

Colleen - I feel your smoke-detector pain. DD7 freaks out:scared1: when one goes off. Many's the time when I've stood dead still at the top of the stairs waiting for the chirp, honing in on the sound. I usually just change 3 or 4 when I can't figure out which one it is.

Sara - Has Mike decided if he's going to run the half in Jan?

Steve - I was lucky enough to get a break in the rain (mostly) and got 5 miles in outside. I'm really trying to avoid the TM until I have no choice.

Have a good night everyone.

:rotfl:Mike, I am so glad you said this. I feel so lame! That was me, standing still for minutes on end trying to figure out where the chirping was coming from. Glad I found it, 18 hours later mind you, before I ripped them out the ceiling.

Jodi, no training for me the last two days. I did get an hour of yoga in each day, but no walking.

Sara, how was DD's turkey trot?

Cindy, where is your June marathon?

Link, ah, Link, I made a Link costume for my son 2 years ago. He wore that thing 24/7, unfortunately, I am not a seamstress and it was totally awful, but at the time, I was the best mom in the world, according to DS.

Steve, good job on those miles on the treadmill. Why are you running inside?

Dave, you do so well to keep up your running in the off season. I don't love it enough to even get the steps in during marathon training. :rolleyes1 I definitely have post vacation depression right now. We are all really tired and can't wait for the weekend to rest.

So I think we should devise a plan to convince Steelers Steve to sign up for Philly.

Wow, I am really rambling, off to bed for this sleepy head.

Inside due to downpours here in southern Maine.

And I guess you would have to refer to me as "Patriots Steve." ;) I know, I know, it's easy to be a fan of a team that has had so much recent success. But...I grew up in New England and was a fan when they absolutely stunk and were a laughingstock! When I lived in Boston, we could literally decide on a Sunday morning that we had nothing better to do; so we'd head down to a Patriots game. We would show up a half-hour before kick-off and get really cheap seats on the 45-yard line. My friends, myself, and the other 125 people there seemed to have a good time.

SilverSteve - I have similar memories about going to Cleveland Indians games. 3,000 people in a ancient old stadium that sat 80,000+. The crazy old ushers still wouldn't let you move down into the "good" seats.

Jodi - I forgot to mention; I LOVED the Little Rascals!!! My big brother is one of those people that can memorize TV shows/movies line for line (but couldn't seem to remember to wear both shoes home from school :confused3 :rotfl2: ). He was constantly quoting Little Rascals lines.

Stimey (sp?) was our all time fave. I still can't see an aritchoke without thinking of him trying to eat one and saying "It may choke Artie but it aint' gonna choke Stimey".

Another one of our favorite shows was Ultraman. A bad Japanese precursor to Power Rangers. The main character had to hold up this toilet paper tube looking thing and shout "Hi yata" (apologies if I just swore in Japanese) to turn into Ultraman and do battle with assorted Godzilla-like creatures. He was the most butter-fingeringist dude west of Fiji. He was always dropping that baton.

Ooh! I found a clip. After about 30 seconds you get the idea.

Funny, I don't seem to remember the funky Asian rock.

Ah, good times!

:rotfl: OK, Mike, I know you are not older than I am, but I just can't remember Ultraman, the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Company) probably didn't pick it up!:lmao: We only had two channels and they were both into airing lame Canadian TV, no show with the cool special effects in Ultraman! Wow, that lizard really fried!

Must find motivation to walk today!

I will report back later today.

Ah, good times!

Oh my...the Rascals are the best!! Someone got me an awesone Little Rascals "Best of" DVD collection last Christmas. One of my all time favorites is when they bake the cake full of surprises and you get that classic "WEEP-WOW" sound effect when it's in the oven. Another classic line is from Chubby, "oh Miss Crabtree...there is something heavy on my heart".

Ultraman was also great.

Colleen - Mike is not THAT much older than me and I don't ever recall Ultraman. However, it does seem like good times:lmao: Here is some motivation:yay: for you to put some steps in today. I was thinking the same thing about Dave not doing WDW in Jan and still putting in the miles. DD's Turkey Trot was postponed until Monday due to the weather. We definitely need to hard sell Steve and Krista on Philly:cool1: .

Mike - Oh we need to talk about that:laughing: . I think it would be safe to say that Mike is not doing the half since the treadmill is still missing him:rotfl2: I could be wrong:eek: I like the McPhillies but I am sure I could warm up to something more endearing:thumbsup2 Since I am a vegetarian I don't like the burger reference:rolleyes1

Jodi - How many miles are you getting in over the weekendpopcorn::

I got in 45 minutes this morning and I am still sticking with 8 miles MP for tomorrow at the moment. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Happy training to all this weekend:cheer2: GO LOU!!!

Hi Teammates: :wave2:

I apologize for the drive-by post, but wow, work got busy this week. A collaborator of mine decided over the last weekend they wanted to feature some of my research in their grant proposal. Great! Grant is due today, uugh... anyhow, we got it in. :cool1:

I didn't miss any runs yet this week.
Monday: Hill workout
Tuesday: 5 miles
Wednesday: 3 miles on TM
Thurs: rest
Fri (this morning): 3 miles on TM

I think I'm going to do another shortish LR tomorrow - just 8 miles or so, nothing major. Thanks everyone for the complements on keeping up with the running. I really have to though. If I stop, I'm done. I know from past experience if I stop running it is so hard to get going again.

Hey so I found another marathon option for 2008. Elite racing just announced another Rock and Roll Marathon, and it will be in San Antonio. The inaugural event will be 11/16/2008. I've always wanted to go to San Antonio, and it might be a little warmer than Philly. Just a thought to see if anyone's interested.
