Hey, I go to a doctor's appt. for a couple of hours and a party breaks out on the thread!! You guys have been all chatty and you brought a new friend to the party:banana:

Cindy - :welcome: Glad you came out of lurker mode!! Best of luck on your first marathon:cheer2: . I will be running the Army 10-miler next year!! I think we may be on the same pace for MCM.

Jodi - Wow, you are rather fiesty today:confused: . :rotfl2: About the stepkids and about fulfilling DH's fairy tale WISHes. Please be nice to those poor innocent children this weekendpopcorn:: .

Colleen - Your yoga class just keeps getting better all of the time:cloud9: . My restorative yoga class was kind of like that.

Doctor said my knee x-rays (both knees) look fine and my problem could be either a stress fracture or a bursitis issue. I will go for a bone scan next week to rule out a stress fracture. He said there are traces of arthritis in both knees but it's very minimal. If there is a stress fracture then it is on a non-impact bearing bone on the outside of the leg so even though it may hurt like he** I will do no damage running MCM. I consider this good news!!

We have been watching videotapes of WDW 07 tonight and I am now getting really, really psyched. I guess I needed to get the doctor's appt. out of the way. Have you seen the new MCM medals? I am not even about the bling and those are so sweet!! I NEED one of those...

I am going to try to go 8 miles tomorrow outside but will bag it if I get an ache. I still have to get my business trip to Orlando out of the way this week before I can concentrate on DC!

Happy final LR to all of my WISH teammates!!

Dave - Yes ATM was hot and about 94% humidity - pretty terrible racing conditions. And yes, DC is not exactly flat - I'm sure we will all be cursing the infamous hill at mile 26 next Sunday.

Jodi - I will attempt to fix the weather. It was 72 when I left for work this morning (crazy) but looks like we have a big storm coming soon. I don't trust 10 day forecasts in DC so I won't start to worry until the middle of next week if it doesn't look better. At least it can't possibly be as bad as Chicago (hopefully).

Cindyx2 - Welcome. You should have joined the party earlier!

Sara - Did you schedule the bone scan? Did the ortho give you a feeling about running next weekend? It seems that more questions than answers is the name of this game.

Jodi - Get out there and do an easy run before you hurt someone! Poor stepkids! Lucky DH! (although I'm probably not allowed to comment on a woman with all this pent-up energy making her hubby's fairy tales come true :rolleyes1 ).

Colleen - What's next for your yoga class? Some buff beekcakes in little egyptian hats fanning you with palm fronds and feeding you dates?

Dave and Chester - Hey guys!

When is everyone planning on going to the expo? DW and I are going before dinner Friday afternoon.

Sara - Did you schedule the bone scan? .
If I wasn't traveling this week it would be SO much easier. I edited my earlier post so most of your questions are answered:thumbsup2
We are hitting the expo around 10:00 a.m. on Friday. We'll drive from BWI over to the DC Armory before we head out to Crystal City.

Sara- That sounds like good news for MCM. Yahoo! Wait, you're going to Orlando again!?! Jealous! Can I go too? Good luck on your 8 miles today. Here's hopin' for some pain free running.

Jodi- Go run already. What are you doing today? I was just planning on doing 6 miles.

Mike- You had me laughing with the Egyptian fanners with palm fronds. Whaddya think of that Colleen? I think I have to wait until Saturday morning to hit the expo because my flight doesn't get in to BWI until 5:00p.

Colleen- Could you post the details on the WISH meet again? I remember it's Friday around 6pm, but that's kind of all I remember (and I'm too lazy to scroll back through the posts).

Chester- Good luck on your last LR.

Cindy- Good luck on your last LR too. My first marathon was Disney in January. It was soooo exciting. This is just my second marathon, and I decided to run the MCM because of this great WISH team. I could have run my local Rochester marathon, but I'd rather get together with these guys.

Edited: OK, it's almost 7:00am now, and I'm heading out. Have good runs everyone. No injuries...

Edited again: OK, it's 8:13 now, I'm back from my 6 mile LR; 56:47 min/9:27 mpm pace.

Good morning team,

Sara, great news about your knees! Please take it easy this marathon.

Welcome Cindy, congrats on your first marathon. It is truly exciting and I hope to experience it again sometime.

Hey Wicked Step-mother how are things today?

Mike and Chester, what is your three way goal for this race? Best case senario time, I'll take it time, I better be faster x than time?

I hope to walk Disney marathon, I really need to get the miles up though, my training plan says 12 miles this weekend. I think I will need to get some books on CD and put them on my MP3 player because I am out there so long. I will try and walk 60 minutes/4 miles today because my glutes are still really sore  after the 6 miles I walked Thursday.

I plan to go see a PT to try and get exercises and stretches to get my patella tracking properly again. There was a guy in Danville, Virginia named Gray Cook that all the triathletes around here went to for sports medicine advice. I got my PCP to write a referral to him, only to find out that he is no longer practicing, he is out traveling and on speaking tours full time! I guess that is where the big bucks are!

I do have a lead on another sports medicine guy in Winston-Salem who is a hip/knee guy, he is out of network, but at this point, I don't mind spend $200 out of my own pocket for a little hope!:wizard:

Here is the info on the Friday night dinner.

OK MCMers, I traded in the broom for some sneakers this am & everything is A OK! Well, you'll have to ask everyone else in the house if they recovered as well:lmao: . Last night I had to leave & go to the gym for some CT, then I got pizza which also makes me happy:laughing: . Phew, that was close.

Dave - OK, insert Twilight Zone music here...I ran the exact same times as you this am! 6 miles at the same pace/same time. ZOIKS!
Can you feel the Chi flowin'?:hippie:

Mike - I am so far from anyone's fairytale, dream or anything else close to that...well maybe a nightmare;) I think we'll be going to the expo around 1 or so on Fri. Our flight gets in around 11:30 to BWI, not sure what traffic's like.

Colleen - Wow, you've got your hands full with tracking down doctors & such. Are you hangin' in there w/o DH around? The kids keep you busy, I'm sure, which is always good. Be careful w/ walking so much, now you're using all differnt muscles, I ache all over when I try to walk. Make sure you take time to chill out in the evenings after the kiddies go to bed, ok? RU still swoggings?

Sara - What R U hoping for w/ times? I'll be happy w/ 4:30, I'd be ecstatic w/ 4:15. I say all of this w/o knowledge of what the weather is going to do. If it's hot & humid I'll be lucky to break 5 hours, seriously, the heat & I don't mix.

Chester - What up Tarzan?

Can't wait for the WISH meet on Fri. night. DH is scared:scared1:

Jodi- I had pizza last night too. Ooooh, wierd about the times as well. Were we running at the same time too? I was hoping I could run with you next Sunday. I'm also shooting for 4:30. At this point, anything faster than that is gravy for me, and I'll be lucky to hit 4:30. I thought I could try to keep up with you, and then if you need to go on without me I'll take my iPOD and load it up with DIS discussion podcasts.

I'm looking forward to the WISH meet Fri night too. Although I get a little apprehensive about meeting new people.

Dave - We'll definitely run together, but I won't be pulling ahead...if I do it'll be because I stole your ipod to listen to inspiring music:lmao: . Um, apprehensive isn't the word for my DH, he's just, well, you'll find out soon enugh. You'd never guess he's wiggin' out inside when you meet him...poor guy:sad2: . Don't get me wrong, I get weirded out, too meeting new people, but he takes it to a whole other level:lmao: But he's super & I wouldn't trade him for anything:love:

Colleen - You're gonna run w/ us, right?

Hi Guys:yay: !! 7 miles today in 1:05:23. I'll take that. Avg. pace was 9:20.

Dave - Great job onthe LR:cheer2: !! Yes, I am going to Orlando on Tuesday for a meeting. Any other time I'd be psyched but I am getting down to the wire here with having to get stuff packed.

Colleen - So glad to hear you're considering walking WDW.:woohoo: I've already told Cam I would be hanging with the back of the packers so I would be happy to hang with you. The books on tape sound like a great idea to pass the time:thumbsup2 .

Jodi - I just want to go the distance girl:banana: !! I will start with you and Dave for sure and then bag out if I have to. The Chi running is helping for sure - thank you so much:hug: . Please assure DH that he is meeting other people who are more comfortable interacting in a non-personal setting (online):lmao: !! I will feel terrible if he is sweating this thing. I swear I don't do people well and I changed my January flights for WDW since I couldn't stand the the thought of missing the Friday night WISH meet. Glad you had a good run this morning and you're not ornery anymore:rotfl2: .

I've been working diligently today on my iPod playlist for MCM. I've got 8 hrs locked and loaded that I'm happy with. The miles should fly by now:rolleyes1 .

Happy training/tapering to all this week:cool1: .

Oh, good, sounds like a great plan! I will be sure to bring my camera so we can take lots of pictures. Flights to MCO are now $170 out of Charlotte, which is a good price. They have been over $300 for about 3 months.

Awesome 7 miles Sara. Glad Chi is helping you. One thing I concentrate on when I am walking is the body/pelvic lean thing. It does help.

Thanks to everyone for all of the welcomes and well wishes. I wish I had joined the party earlier - it would have been nice to chat with you all during training - but I actually just found this board last week and was thinking about posting then, but thought it was too late. On my second "lurk," I read the post calling for lurkers to make themselves know and decided I should respond. I had to postpone my last LR til tomorrow because we had to attend a baby naming ceremony for a good friend's baby early this morning and by the time that was over, it was 80 degrees (I feel confident it will be better next week).

Dave - I saw your post about the podcasts - are your the person whose email Pete read at the end of last week's show? The podcasts are actually what made me start looking at the Disboards and decide to register. I started listening at the end of July and listened to all of the back episodes while running (and on the metro on the way to work).

Yup, that was my e-mail Pete read. I had no idea that was coming, and felt a little weird hearing it read. Hope it didn't sound too pathetic.

How did I miss this? Wow, I hope so!:groom: :groom: :groom: popcorn::

Also, what is this talk about DCL going to Alaska in 2009? Are there rumblings of this over on the DCL board?

It was a rumor that was mentioned on a DIS Unplugged podcast a couple weeks ago. It was acknowledged that it was just a rumor, but that it came from a very good source. That would be so cool, and I would definitely save my pennies for that one.

Washington monument tickets?
IF you want to do the Washington Monument you have to get timed tickets which are a first come basis but you can reserve tickets online for I think it was a $1.5 convenience fee per ticket.

Here is some good info about the museums I found on the Dis boards.

The New Native American museum was fabulous. Really just beautiful. They have kid friendly activities and the n. american myths that are being shown on the screens on the 4th floor could have occupied my kids for a very long time. They have a great cafe' with authentic foods. We ate salmon, wild rice salad and buffalo. All of the museums have good food. It is pricey, but I would rather pay 9.00 for roasted chicken, fresh green beans and roasted potatoes with fresh cornbread than pay 6.50 for a burger and fries! The kids meals are more reasonable and include fresh fruit We spent tons of time in the Museum of Natural History and could have spent more. It is so diverse it really served everyones needs and interests. The treasury tour was very cool and the kids loved seeing how money was made (this is one that you need to get up and get free tickets early in the am for) The national zoo was good, not great, and there is a ton of construction going on there as someone else pointed out. Air and space was good too, they have some exhibits down too unfortunately, but the kids loved the flight simulator for an extra fee. The war memeorials were excellent and the world war two one is just beautiful. It fits in perfectly on the mall. The changing of the guard at Arlington was very moving and the tour bus (6.00 per person) although kinda pricey was very informative and saved our aching feet at the end of our last day!! Finally, Be clear that you have to go through security for every museum and let them search bags etc. You cannot bring in food or drink except for a water bottle so no brown bagging it!

Also, this one.

I highly recommend watching Disney's "National Treasure" before you go! DS10 actually reuqested going to the National Archives and Library of Congress! We also went to the Spy Museum (good), Ford's Theater (excellent! (where Lincoln was shot)), Air & Space (only okay), Tour of US Capitol Bldg through our congressman (excellent!), Washington Monument (awesome), WWII Memorial (Awesome), Holocaust Museum (beyond words!) and Washington National Cathedral (DS13 asked to go to see the architecture and it was incredible!).

Hey guys! Just wanted to pop in really quick to say good luck next weekend at MCM. I know you guys will do great!

Colleen--sorry that you won't be able to do MCM, but Krista and I are excited that you're still going to try to walk Disney in January. We'll see you there! :)

Dave--you're apprehensive about meeting new people? Could have fooled me! Or maybe Krista and I aren't "new people." :) By the way, we have yet to crack open the Fulkerson wine. We get so many great comments on it from people who come over, that it's worth it just to hear their reactions (and we also tell them that we own our own winery. :thumbsup2 )

Anyway, hope you all have a great weekend in DC. Make the WISH team proud. We'll be with you all in spirit!

Steve

Jodi and Dave - Too funny about the identicle times on your runs. Good job to you both.

Jodi - Tell DH not to worry (the rest of us will be doing enough of that for him).

Sara - Good news on the knee! I hope you get a chance to visit The World while you're in Orlando. If so, have a Mickey Bar for me! That's a lot of travel in the next few days. Get lots of rest.

Dave - What kind of iPod do you have. I seem to recall that you got a shuffle a while back. If so, is it easy to put the podcast on first so that you can find it?

Cindy - Good luck on your last LR. Be sure to check out the weekly running thread as well. Lots of posts by lots of people talking about a wide range of topics (some of them actually running related:lmao:).

Mike and Chester, what is your three way goal for this race? Best case senario time, I'll take it time, I better be faster x than time?
Colleen - That is the $64,000 question, isn't it.

(I've been staring at the screen for 5 minutes now trying to figure out what to type.):confused3

O.K. How about this: Best case, a PR at less than 3:40. I'll take it at 4:00. I better be faster than 4:15.

That's a whopping amount of pressure when you put it down for the whole world to see!!! :scared1:

After all that, I'm too exhausted to type anything else. Oh yeah, I ran 8 miles this morning.

The Indians are getting their butt's kicked. I'm going to bed!
