Colleen - Hi, are you walking right now? or are you going this pm? Let us know how you make out!!

Yes, indeed I was walking, in fact I walked 10.8 miles today! Average speed 14:20!!:car: I never developed blisters on the bottom of feet while running, on the outside of my pinky toe, yes, but never on the sole of my foot. I can kind of feel something, a little tender, I will be careful. Feel pretty good now.

I need to go stretch and then off for a haircut!

Colleen - :scared1: Holy crapoli!, I can't believe you walked that far. I'm sure you'll develop a few new hot spots with the new activity, uh especially b/c of jumping into it so GUNG - HO!  I'm happy for you & bodyglide those feet silly next time:upsidedow

Mike
A burrito prior to a run? That's a gutsy choice. Chili is another pre-run no no.

Jodi
I didn't even consider the logistics of transfering a chip to a fresh pair of shoes. Maybe I'll only change the non-chip shoe. I had better think this out.

Just DW is a Pharmacist. I is an Architect.

Colleen
The only time that I've gotten serious blisters is when I had to walk long distances uring a run. When I'm running, my feet just kind of meet the ground, but when I try to walk quickly, it takes more thust. Body glide on the feet seems to hel as Jodi mentioned.

Sara
Happy anniversary Friday to you and your DH.

Cindy
Any temperatures below 80 will be fine by me. Can you control the humidity too?

Dave
Enjoy the tapering.

It's getting close now.

Hey MCMers!

I just hopped into your thread to wish you all good luck this weekend! :thumbsup2

The 1991 MCM was my one and only marathon; I still consider it the best organized race in which I have participated.

I still have a vivid race-day memory of seeing a gauntlet of Marines in fatigues, at least a dozen on each side of the street, standing with their hands oddly outstretched toward the runners. As I approached I realized that they all had rubber gloves on; those Marines on the left side of the street had their gloved hands caked with Vaseline-in case you were chafing; those Marines on the right side had their hands caked with Icy-Hot, in case you were cramping up. Talk about organization!

The bands playing music along the course, as well as the inspiration you can't help but feel when running near all the monuments, seemed to make the race just fly by.

Best of luck to you all! I look forward to reading your race reports. Go get 'em WISH Team! :woohoo:

Hi, MCM'ers!! Just jumping on your thread to WISH you all a fabulous race!!! :grouphug: We will miss you this weekend while you are all off doing the fun thing in DC. Even those of us in WDW will be thinking about you! Hugs to all! Stay cool. Stay hydrated. Stay greased!

WOW, thanks to all the well-wishers from neighboring threads!:grouphug: . I'm going to have to bop over to that very huge & intimidating weekly training thread you guys are on when I start getting ready for the GOOFY! I just don't know if I can keep up with everyone! I participated in that thread back in '05 when I was training for the WDW 1/2 in Jan '06, but lost touch after that!

Anywho, thanks again for the support, WISH we could all be there together!

Chester - This being DC, the humidity (at least for early in the morning) is pretty much a given, but this (as noted above) is still an excellent weather update!!!

In case anyone thought I was kidding, I did ask DH to perform a cold weather dance last night. It involved him dancing with the cat a bit and I'm sure is not something he would want to show others, but perhaps it worked! Arlington: Sat overnight low of 48, Sun high of 64 (That's 4 degrees cooler!! ) DC: Sat low 53, Sun high of 64. And, in other good news, it is now supposed to stop raining tomorrow instead of continuing into Saturday so you all should be able to enjoy taking in some of the DC sights a bit more without dragging around raincoats and umbrellas.

In case I don't get back to this thread before everyone leaves for DC, I want to wish you all the best of luck on Sunday. Is anyone going to be wearing a WISH shirt, or other special shirt so that if I run into you I can say hi? I don't have anything unique that I plan on wearing, but my Bib# is 1410 (not that I would expect anyone to remember that).

Cindy

Cindy - I will have a WISH shirt and hat on for sure. I WILL remember your bib # BTW:thumbsup2 . Thanks for the weather update and for DH taking one for the team with the dance:lmao: .

Chester - Ask DW if it is advisable to take Vicodin during a marathon:rotfl: . Please know I am kidding at this point in time:confused3 . Thanks so much for the Anniversary wishes. I haven't really seen DH this week so anything that day should suffice:love: .

Colleen - You rock woman:banana: !!

SilverE - Thank you so much for the post:thumbsup2 . It really helps with the mental aspect at this point.

Jodi & Dave - So very, very happy to have some company to travel to the start with on race morning:goodvibes . It'll help tremendously with keeping the anxiety of the logistics at bay.

Travel safe guys and we'll see you tomorrow:grouphug: .

Cindy - :worship: to your husband for the weather dance!! (poor cat):lmao: I don't have a WISH shirt or anything, but I'll be the one with the scowl on her face, doing this:sad2: , wondering what I'm doing there. Line up around the 4:30 corral & I'll just yell your name until you answer:banana:

Sara - Uh, what time do you plan on leaving for the starting line??:scared1: I know what time you get up! and you can forget it!:lmao: Are you ready w/ the belly dancing?

Colleen - Thanks so much for starting this thread, misery loves company:rotfl2: . How's the bod after that long walk yesterday. Now THAT takes some serious determination! When faced with adversity, I just eat bon-bons & cry.:rolleyes1 Good for you for gettin' it done one way or another, right? You'll be running again in no time!

Dave - Is you dad gonna make it? Don't forget about the pole dance.

Chester - Loin cloth all washed & ready?

Mike - I'll bring 2 bungees, one for back up in case we should wear down the first!:woohoo:

The robot-ing is going great. I've even worked in a multi-salute-thing in the middle of it, all with the help of my DH, of course:rolleyes1 . We really need to get out more!

Sara - Happy Anniversary to you & your hubby tomorrow. What a way to spend it...with a bunch of WISHERS...how romantic:rotfl: :goodvibes

Cindy - Are you coming to the WISH meet tomorrow night? I think it's ok to invite you on behalf of everyone else, right guys? It's @, uh, is it Bebo Trattoria, or something like that in Arlington? It's @ 6:30, and it should be pretty scary:rotfl2: . I don't know anyone either, so...

Greetings Everyone:

Wow, lot's of chatter on the thread today. Well, I guess because the time is nearly here. I think a lot of us are travelling tomorrow.

Jodi- Yes, my Dad is coming with me. I had a long talk with him this week, and he's all set to pick me up at the airport. He'll drive up to Delaware, pick me up, and then let me drive from there. He's a little anxious about driving in DC so he's going to let me do that. My flight gets into BWI tomorrow at 5pm, and I'm going to head right to the WISH meet.

Just so everyone knows, since Colleen is not going to be able to make it for the weekend :sad1:, the WISH meet reservation is now under my name, David Parfitt. It's for a party of 12 at 6:30pm. Cindy, you're definitely more than welcome to come to the WISH meet.

Cindy- I'll be wearing my WISH shirt too. It's incredibly bright fluorescent yellow/green. You can see it from a mile away. It even makes your skin look discolored. Yup, it's a lovely color.

Well, I've already checked in online. I just have to pack my gear tonight. Leaving for TPA at 8:00am.

Cindy
I won't be wearing a wish shirt, but I will be sporting wish colors. I'll be running in a white adiddas sleeveless shirt that has lime green accents and black adiddas shorts with lime accents. On the back of my shirt I will have pinned a special tribute to my dad.

I'll wear my wish visor if I can come up with a good way to take the slack out of the headband.

Jodi
No loincloth necessary. I just checked and there have been no Florida panther sightings in DC this week. Besides, with all the Marines around I should be safe.

Mike
Put down a trail of sports beans for me to follow as I bring up the rear.

See you all tomorrow,

Chester

Jodi and Dave - Thanks so much for inviting me to join all of you for the WISH meet! Unfortunately, I am swamped at work right now (perhaps the obsessive reading of articles about marathons and more than infrequent visits to the Disboards had something to do with that) but in order to avoid having to work this weekend - which I absolutely refuse to do - I'm going to have to work pretty late both tonight and tomorrow night. I'm guessing you'll all be done with dinner by the time I get out of here. For my next marathon, I definitely want to do something out of town so work can't get in the way. Actually, Sara happy anniversary, and I noticed that you have the Flying Pig in your signature line, that is the race that I am trying to convince DH that we should sign up for. His boss ran a marathon a few weeks ago (not sure where) and the Flying Pig had a table at the expo and if you signed up, you got a shirt that said "I'll run a marathon when pigs fly." I told DH that if they are at the MCM expo, we are signing up (yes, I'm all about the swag). He is not yet convinced that we should do another marathon so soon, he's kind of freaking out about this one.

Anyway, I guess I will just have to try to find you all on Sunday. I'll be looking for the lime-green! I do plan on lining up near 4:30 probably behind the pace group, which I assume may be pretty large. I'll be wearing a blue addidas running cap.

Cindy-I ran the Flying Pig 1/2 Marathon last year, and it was a blast. It was a great race, and there was a good group of WISHers that ran that one too.

Hey Everyone,

You can almost feel the excitement! Everyone have safe travels. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone.

Sara - If you're going to be popping Vicodin on the course the post finish-line belly dancing may just make the evening news here :rotfl: :rotfl: .

Chester - You may just want to plan on the loin cloth anyway. The city can be a bit of a jungle!

Jodi - You better watch it with the bungee cord talk. Ask Dave about the grief he took when he mentioned tying himself to Steve at the Flying Pig.

Cindy - Don't work too hard this weekend. There will be plenty of work to be done Sunday morning.

Dave - Thanks for picking up the ball with the dinner ressies.

Colleen - We miss you!:sad1: :sad1:

See everyone real soon!

Sunday's projected high is down to 62!!!! (Add obsessively checking the weather to reasons why I have to work late).

OMG - The taper madness has officially set in:crazy:

Mike - No Vicodin for sure. If I have to have a Marine carry me then I'll have to just suck it up:rolleyes1

Cindy - Get to work girl!! I do plan on running the Flying Pig once I heal this stress fracture. Please do look for us on Sunday morning and we promise to do the same.

Dave - Thanks so much for stepping up with the ressies. We'll see you there.

Chester - Under the circumstances I may be bringing up the rear by far!!

Jodi - Do you plan on giving us a robot dance preview at the WISH meet?
