Thank you all for your words of encouragement...I'll make pretend that you mean it & really care:lmao: .

I had a HUGE, chick-like melt down yesterday...hey, I'm allowed once in a while. It was one of those mind-melds that make me hate being a woman:rotfl: . Around 1 p.m. I decided I didn't want to run, no excuse except that it was too windy, I just didn't feel like it. So I said it aloud (thank god I work alone), angrily, swearing as I ranted that it was ok not to run today, trying to convince myself...I stayed @ work late & continued to talk to myself:lmao:

On the way home I almost started to cry...all because I didn't run  :confused3 .

As the evening waned my son kept asking "what is wrong with you, you seem all angry?" Poor kid's got no chance. After dinner I went on a feeding frenzy of sweets (all organic, mind you); a chocoate bar, 3 cookies & concluded with a pop-tart like thing & a big glass of milk. Bruce just shook his head when he got home & I told him of my antics. "You need so much help" was all he could muster...Gotta love the support:love:

I'm happy to report that the hormonal insanity is gone & I plan on leaving work early today & getting a nice run in...supposed to be 50. PHEW.

So, how was everyone elses Weds.?
Jodi- I wanted to chime in with my words of support and encouragement. I am so impressed and proud of you undertaking this ultramarathon challenge. I know you can do this! You have come so far in your training. So you had a minor meltdown yesterday. Great! You got it out of the way before your race. Just think of it as part of taper madness. You can do this, and you will be great. I can't wait to congratulate you on your accomplishment.

Hi, I actually went to the YMCA to get a few miles in this morning. I took the day off of work because this is my "Spring Break" week and I had to do something other than more school work and work.

I ran 3.1 miles in 30:33 (9:52 pace). I am not proud of that, but it was not as bad as I thought it would be. I have not really run any distance since WDW in January.

I have 48 days of class left and 58 to Commencement. :cool1: :cheer2: :thumbsup2 Once this school thing is over, I am jumping into a full blown training program for the October Marine Corps Marathon, followed closely by the Philadelphia Marathon.

I am inspired by all of your efforts. Keep up the great effort and training!

:grouphug:

Howard

JODI - OMG, you make me:rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao: . Glad you're feeling better today and I hope you knock out a great run. I also want to chime in with my words of encouragement and a bit of better you than me:thumbsup2 . You can cover the distance for sure:banana: . It's all mind over matter and don't forget you're a beast:worship: .

Howard - Congrats on almost being finished with your studies:cool1: . What a great accomplishment! Personally, I think you're crazy with the back-to-back-to-back marathons but I hope you have lots of fun training for them:woohoo: . Nice job on the 3 miles:thumbsup2 .

Dave - Thanks for checking in:grouphug: .

Mike - Glad you're feeling fine;) .

Colleen - I also won't be registering for Philly until I get resolution on the leg because I need to see if it'll be a 1/2 or a full on 11/23.

Cindy - Welcome back. I hope you're keeping the cold at bay:wizard: .

Lou, Steve x 2 & Chester - :wave2:

I'm off to the ortho @ 3:00 today so we'll seepopcorn:: ...I'm managing to keep myself busy and I've been out running on dry roads so it's all good. I may be running a 10K on the 19th if all goes well at the doc's and the leg keeps quiet:laughing: .

Sara: Good luck at the ortho; Demand that MRI!!!! If you have to take the office staff hostage for the doc to write the order...so be it! Be strong; go get 'em!

Sara: Good luck at the ortho; Demand that MRI!!!! If you have to take the office staff hostage for the doc to write the order...so be it! Be strong; go get 'em!
THANKS:hug: . My DH said to me this morning before I left for work, "have fun fighting with the doctor today." I am in complete agreement that if he doesn't order the MRI then I won't be going back to him again. I'll let you know:rolleyes1 . The leg is so temperamental but the bottom line is it's been 7 months and I am a runner who needs to run or to be told definitively why I can't run:mad: .

Sara - HEY WENCH!! Good luck @ the ortho; DEMAND answers:laughing: or kick someones a**. Oh, & thanks for the words of "encouragement":lmao: , better me than you, indeed! Have the kids recovered from their one on one time with you yet?:rotfl2: Cute little things!

Dave - Thanks for the kinds words - what's a melt down, right?:rotfl:

I'll check in tonight & let you know how the run was.

Hi Steve!!

Sara: Good luck at the ortho; Demand that MRI!!!! If you have to take the office staff hostage for the doc to write the order...so be it! Be strong; go get 'em!

Yeah, what Steve said! Mike, Sara may have to borrow that can of whoop-a** from you!:thumbsup2

Howard, wow, almost finished! It will be here before you know it.

Dave, good hearing from you. Hope all is well with your family.

Oh, I will share Krista's news here, I read on the main thread that she felt the baby kick! I have to get over there and post my congrats. :yay: Ah, babies!

Jodi, I am with you sista! No training for me for the same reasons you had yesterday. Matter of fact, last night DH had a business dinner and I made him bring home a fancy dessert for me!:rolleyes1 Afterall, he is in training so he didn't need it.popcorn:: I am on my way out the door for about 3 miles walking and hopefully 30 minutes on the bike. Seriously though, I commend your effort training for this ultra, I have done Disney marathon 3 years now and after every marathon I have about a 3 month period where I have no desire to run. I will soon get back into the serious training, but it is just taking me a little longer this year...could it be age?

Off topic, my son made his schools Battle of the Books team.:cheer2: Do they have this competition in other states?

Hey McPhilly crew!

Time to come out of the shadows and stop lurking.

I decided to not do the Country Music Marathon April 26 because Miranda's soccer team has made it to the State Cup round of 16 which is the same weekend.

I'm still training and getting about 20 miles a week in. My next event will be the 5k and 15k at WDW Minnie Weekend. The following weekend will be the Muddy Buddy with Chet.

Ack, lunch hour is over. I gotta go.

Hey McPhilly crew!

Time to come out of the shadows and stop lurking.

You're alive!! Congrats to Miranda! There will always be marathons, but a big soccer tournament is something totally different!

Theta - HI!!!!! Glad you're going for a walk today, I'll be thinking about you while I'm trying to run:rotfl: . Um, I was in the Battle of the Bands in high school, but not sure what this book thing is? Either way, tell him I said GOOD LUCK!! And tell Krista & Steve if they came over here to visit, WE could congratulate them, too!:rotfl:

Chester - Hi. Good to hear from you again. Sounds like your training is going well. Congrats to your daughter - that's really cool.

Steve - Good to hear from you too. I hope things are going ok with your family.

Dave - How are you doing? How is your hip?

Lou - I hope you have recovered from the leaves.

Howard - Congrats on getting a run in. I hope you get to enjoy your spring break.

Jodi - looking forward to hearing the report of your run.popcorn::

Sara - I hope everything goes well at the doctors, it must be so frustrating not having any answers.

Colleen - I hope your walk goes well. Any decision on the Minnie?

Cindy and welcome HOME! Your weekend with family sounds REALLY heinous!:lmao: , and if I'm reading it right, they're all YOUR family, right? If so, your husband is a saint!! :rotfl: You're going to need that 17 miles for sanity purposes, never mind training!

There are 6 people coming, 4 are my family and 2 are his. But the 3 staying with us are mine.

Cindy - Welcome back. I've got an idea. Maybe you and Matt could tell all your company that you are going out for milk. You're welcome to come stay with us for a night or two. They'd probably never notice you're gone.

Thanks, that made me laugh. The idea of us going out to get milk is funny. We don't do milk - Matt can't (Jodistop issues). Now, us going out to get beer would be more realistic.

Off topic, my son made his schools Battle of the Books team.:cheer2: Do they have this competition in other states?

Never heard of it, but I assume its an academic thing? Cool!

As for me, this cold appears to be a bit worse than I thought. I attempted a 4 mile run this morning. I finished it, but it was really hard. I barely had the energy to put one foot in front of the other. I may need to re-evaluate my plan for 17 miles this weekend (also supposed to run 8 tomorrow). This was actually my second run after the race. Matt and I managed to get a 4 mile run in on Monday morning in Phoenix. That run felt pretty good and helped to loosen up my quads which were really tight, I'm guessing from the hills in the race followed by the sitting on the plane.

Holy shmoly, everyone's posting today!! Now the trick is to remember what everyone is talking about.

Chester - Too bad about the Country Music Marathon, but congrats to Miranda. It's great that you have Minnie and the Muddy Buddy just around the corner to keep you honest.

Dave - How's training? Is the hip behaving? I'm guessing Cleveland is still a go?

Sara - Good luck with the doc. Keep us updated.

Colleen - My crystal ball (and Kathy) tells me that Minnie is looking like more of a possibility for you. I'm kind of sad I won't be going.

BTW, I know why each year it gets harder to get going after WDW. It's not age, it's depression. You love us all so much you can't stand the thought of not seeing us again until who knows when. It will be better next year when we all run in Virginia Beach in March:thumbsup2 .

Battle of the Books sounds vaguely familiar (maybe from you mentioning it before?) but I don't think they do it around here. I'm guessing some of the less stable McPhillies are picturing a dodgeball like competition, only hurling hardbacks.

Steve - Nice to see you! I'm glad you were suggesting hostages, etc. to Sara and not to any of our less stable friends :scared1: .

Cindy - Sorry you've got the crud. I hope you start to feel better soon. Don't sweat the 17 miler if you're not up to it.

Hey, feel free to bring beer instead of milk when you come!

I forgot to ask you...what's Cindy like in real person? Is she a whack-job like someone else on this thread (me) or semi-normal?:rotfl: popcorn::
Less Stable Friend - Trust me, she's not a whack-job like you! She didn't swear at me, call me names, make fun of the guy with the pooch in the porta-pot line, or anything even remotely Jodi-like (well, she did crack on my sweat pants a little, but that was much deserved).

I was curious and forgot to ask her who dropped her and Matt there. It's obvious neither one is old enough to drive! Damn kids!

BTW, I'm glad you're feeling better. Or maybe you're not again. Or maybe you were, then weren't, but are again. Who knows? (and women complain about why men don't understand them).

Organic sweets??? That's just wrong!

I signed up for the Cleveland Marathon last night. I've got a brand new training schedule stuck on the fridge. Kind of scary when it's only a 6 week deal. Then again, it's kind of nice considering 2 weeks of that are taper. I used the Runner's World Smart Coach again. The only thing I changed was that I changed the 18 miler they had me running the week before the marathon :scared1: . I'm all in for the 2 week taper at this point.

Cindy - The weekend of April 20th has me scheduled for 14 miles. Are you still thinking about the half in Leesburg? That would actually work perfect for me.

Bye!

Ummm, didn't you just bring home a great 1/2 marathon PR?:confused3 Cool the heels girl and take a little rest.:thumbsup2 Let your body recover for a week or two.

Hi Chester! Good to hear from you! Good luck in Minnie.

Cindy, Mike (and Kathy) oh, as for Minnie, right now I am only 20% committed. Friends of ours are thinking about doing Free Dining in September and we may go with them, so I think I will save the clams for that potential trip. Shh, DH doesn't know yet, touchy subject because of APs will be expired...

Yeah, that must be it, actually Jodi and I were just talking about that! November is just too far away, we need to plan something between now and then.:thumbsup2

Places I want to visit:

Colonial Williamsburg
D.C.
any beach
a lake in the NE

Hi Guys.

Jodi: You can do it. :goodvibes. There, how about that for a motivational speech? Puts "Win one for the Gipper" to shame, huh? Seriously, you CAN do it, and you have all of us pulling for you and sending you positive Chi(running) :grouphug:

Colleen: Mowing for cross-training? I don't even know where my mower is. The honkin' (New Englander adjective alert!) snowblower still has the alpha-dog spot in the garage.

Cindy: Ahh, the lovely Spring head cold :headache:. Perhaps your motivation for your 17-miler this weekend will be to get some distance between you and the wall-to-wall relatives in your condo :lmao: If the cold keeps you in, at least your ears may be somewhat congested and you won't hear them all.

Mike: What's to say? Dude, you are so in the zone with your running :worship:

Lou: Hope work is going well. I wish I could rake the wet leaves in my yard, but they are still under a couple inches of snow.

Dave: Howdy. I hope your hip has been behaving and you have been enjoying some training.

Howard: See the MBA. Be the MBA. You are close, Grasshopper.

Chester: Nice to hear from you. Congrats to Miranda!

Sara: I hope all went well at the ortho and you got your MRI order. I wasn't looking forward to seeing your doctor's office on the evening news with a SWAT team out front and your neighbors commenting on camera that you "seemed like a nice, normal person."

As for me, I am getting back into the groove. I ran a total of 22 miles last week, with a LR of 8. I'm beginning to ramp up the LRs as I was foolish enough to enter a 25K trail race this Memorial Day weekend that is described in the brochure as an "off road roller coaster." :scared1:

Take care, all. Hello to everyone I missed!

Steve - "Off-road roller coaster", you're insane!:scared1: I only sign up for things that say "flat & boring". BTW, if there is a SWAT team outside Sara's DR.'s office, I wouldn't be the friend saying "she seemed normal":rotfl2: Thanks for the confidence-building speech, wow, where do you come up with this stuff?

Howard - Keep up the good work, dude! You'll be done b4 you know it! (easy for me to say).

Sara - So, how'd it go??????popcorn::

Cindy - Glad to hear that you are nicer & more stable than I...not that that's all too difficult. Sorry to hear you're so sick, but listen to THETAWOMAN, cool your jets & give your body a break. I don't recommend that long of a run this weekend...maybe switch things up a bit & just chill...you don't wanna get hurt:eek: . As for that race in Sept., that's the weekend of the Yeti thing @ Disney...but if EVERYONE agreed, I could easily be swayed!:woohoo:

Mike - Hey freak! You too with the running yourself into the ground! You just finished a kick-gooly marathon & you're already looking to train for another s-l-o-w-d-o-w-n & don't get injured. Yes, I'm better now, thanks for your concern:rotfl2: :sad2: And I think Colleen is depressed, missing all of us (well, most of us):grouphug: It's a drag when an event like that is over. BTW, how's Kathy's training going for the MINNIE? I'm so jealous & want to go...did I mention SW airlines has fares down there for $74 over that week?:rolleyes1

OK, so I brushed the cookie crumbs off myself & wiped the curdled milk from the corners of my mouth & got out there for a run today...8 miles, nothing great, but nothing bad either. I'm happy now & will not be cursing later on tonight, @ the laziness that is me. Thank you for listening to my B.S.:yay:

[ BTW, how's Kathy's training going for the MINNIE? I'm so jealous & want to go...did I mention SW airlines has fares down there for $74 over that week?:rolleyes1

interesting:)

I just checked my airfare and it is $300. boo hoo

This cold totally sucks.:sad2: My head is so congested, I can't even hear out of my left ear and my nose won't stop running. I did what I think was the smart thing this morning and skipped my 8 miler. Trust me, there was NO WAY I was getting out of bed to run. I'll have to see how I feel tomorrow morning about doing the 17 miler. I'm guessing I won't run that far, but I feel like I need to get close. Its also supposed to rain all day tomorrow:sad2:

Jodi and Colleen - Thanks for your concern and I know you are right, but I am also concerned that because I was focused on the half, my mileage is not as high as it should be at this point since I have a full in 8 WEEKS:scared1: I've switched over to a Hal Higdon schedule and according to that schedule, I should run 41 miles this week. I've already skipped 16 of those and who knows how many I'll cut off tomorrow's run.:sad2:

Steve - off road roller coaster - you're crazy! I'm going to have to give you the old "better you than me." :thumbsup2 I hope it's at least a scenic trail.

Mike - 18 miles the week before a marathon? That schedule is whack.:scared1: As for the Leesburg half, I am 90% positive I am going to do it. I have to run 13 miles that weekend anyway, so why not? Here's the link http://www.runfortheshelter.org/

Jodi - $74?!? That's super cheap. You should come. If you're willing to shack up with Colleen, maybe she'll come too - that $300 has to go down, right?

Happy weekend to all! I hope I survive. The first set of relatives should be arriving at my condo any minute (I was going to be nice and pick them up at the airport, but I decided I was being nice enough by letting them stay with my for 7 days, so they can take a cab or Metro.

Cindy - You poor thing!:sad2: So sorry you feel so ill! Listen, let your relatives take care of you this weekend, might as well get something out of it! As far as running & all that crap, puh-lease! don't even stress. You KNOW you can miss a LR weekend, all the "trainers" tell you that, so don't even give it a second thought. DO NOT go out in the rain tomorrow & run, you tool! Just relax...Oooh, & stop w/ the weekly mileage numbers...if I ever thought of miles I had to complete in a week I'd never run again. Really, just curl up on the couch this rainy weekend & watch movies! Sun. supposed to be nice, maybe go for a walk or 5 miler if you feel up to it.
