Am I the only one who isn't thrilled with the new Storybook Circus part of Fantasyland? To me, Pete's Silly Sideshow is similar to Dinoland USA at AK....it looks very un-Disneylike. Dare I say carnival-ish? Is carnival-ish a word? ;) It doesn't look "magical".

Looking at the pictures of Minnie, Daisy, Goofy and Donald in their new home doesn't excite me. Since our kids are older, we didn't go into Toontown very often, but I guarantee we won't be visiting Storybook Circus very much either. I prefer Toontown to the circus theme....

Does anyone else feel the same about it as me?

No, you're not the only one. Personally, very sad to see Toon Town go. Really enjoyed it and our family had a lot of magical stuff happen in TT over the past several years. The Belle and Ariel stuff should be okay - however, the Under the Sea ride, assuming it's the same as DCA, is nothing special at all.

What could be more "Disney" than circuses and Dumbo and Goofy and all the rest? Me, I'm quite excited to see it. One of the first Disney films I ever saw was Dumbo!

Disney is many things to many people. Just because it doesn't match your vision of Disney (princesses? castles?) doesn't mean it's not "Disneylike".

I think it looks very Disney! I don't have a little one anymore but I still can't wait to check it out'

Wow, no, I don't feel that way at all!

Now, I haven't seen it in person yet (leaving for WDW on Sunday though :thumbsup2). But from the pictures, I think the themeing and detail are superb! To me, the Imagineers have really gone above and beyond to immerse you in the circus environment, and I can't wait to see it in real life!

I agree with OP. When I saw the big Disneyfoodblog article this morning, I was taken aback. Dumbo is a classic ride but not my favorite Disney movie or character by a long shot. And "carny" themes are kinda creepy to me. Some of the other proposed offerings in the new Fantasyland expansion look pretty cool. But, I miss Toon Town...

I'm digging it. I don't see the connection to Dinoland USA at all (that has more of a pop culture feel to it.) It's not "carny" to me either. The name really should set the tone. It's Storybook Circus.

It reminds me SO much of the Little Golden Books series, esp. the Disney ones. It's not so much a typical modern circus as it is a storybook version of a circus. Something Pinocchio might have gone to. I think it is a much better marriage of Fantasyland/Toddler stuff than Toontown (although we loved Toontown, but after a while my kids got really bored with so much of the houses being hands-off.)

So yeah, to me Storybook Circus is like a giant Little Golden Book of Dumbo and it exists somewhere off in the distance of Cinderella or um..what's her name...Enchanted...Giselle. Somewhere off in storybook land there is a little circus. :) I also find it WAY more classic 1930's-1950's Disney than Toontown.

Just my thoughts!

Didn't care for Toon Town. The play ground was lacking and basically just a prison for children. Donald's boat was always abandoned and off. The only cool things were the M houses and the Barnstormer. That doesn't make much of a Toon Town and it makes sense considering the meant the area to be a temporary fix. It felt it.
The new Circus Land is much higher quality but I'm not excited about it either. It seems to be a lot of empty space and it lacks in attractions. They made a lot of room for people to sit and rest and snack.
The water and dumbo play areas are nice but do they make up for the half dozen little things taken out of Toon Town?
The last gripe is that Barnstormer is not as well themed as the old version. Loved the chickens...
If they crammed in another attraction to the new Circus area I would be a lot more excited and would say it was a definite upgrade.

~Awww, I loved Toon Town , and yes I would prefer to keep that over Storybook Circus. But, I still think Storybook Circus & Pete's Silly Sideshow is amazing and wonderfully themed! :goodvibes

I like the pics from your blog, Josh! The colors are so vivid and bright. Very happy!

I like the idea of Dumbo being situated in a carnival themed setting. I can't imagine anything more appropriate. The Casey Junior splash pad seems to fit right in, too. Goofy's ride seems like a logical fit as well. As for the character meet and greet area- meh-we're not into character M&Gs anyway.

I think I'll just reserve judgement until I've actually been there and experienced the area in person, rather than relying on photos.

Good call. :thumbsup2

What I've seen of it in person, which is everything but the tents, blows Dinoland away. :goodvibes

We were there a couple of weeks ago and the area is very, very nice. I also had feelings of "hmm, not digging the circus/carnival idea", but once we saw it in person, this is going to be one super nice addition to MK.

Plus, the Dumbo, Goofini, and water play area is a small overall portion of the new fantasyland.

It has a true Disney feel to it. ...and for the record, I can't stand the Dinoland area of AK.:crazy2::sick::mad:

Wow, josh went to the trouble of going to memegenerator to be a jerk, classy. :duck: It's just like being on reddit... :offtopic:

Anyhow, I'd have to say that the first two sarcastic answers are closer to the truth: yes and no. You literally can't please everyone. It seems like a good idea and themed well. Of course, I still miss the Atlantis-themed 20,000 leagues re-theme that never happened. :lmao:

It looks neat from the disneyfoodblog pics. Definitely a circus vibe as opposed to the boardwalk vibe of Dinoland. I think I have to give preference to anything that actually goes with a Disney movie as opposed to the kind-of bland Toon Town theming. :confused3

Saw it, loved it.... even picked up Oswald ears and DD and I got free embroidered names on 'em!
