Why is Peter Pan so popular? We rode it 2 trips ago and found it very underwhelming. Why such the long wait all the time?

For me....it is nostalgia. I rode it with my parents and siblings as a child and now I get to ride it with my kids!

Tradition, nostalgia, an original fantasyland ride, whimsy, fantasy, suspended reality, easy to ride with children, lower capacity to move the crowd quickly (though it is usually steady on/ off). Love this ride!

Very low capacity, no height restrictions, and broad appeal.

Capacity is a huge driver of wait times for any attraction.

It was the first ride I went on in WDL when I was 6...pure magic ! The next time I went to a DP was in 2008 with my kids....I mostly look at the gleem in their eyes as we ride remembering the magic I felt when I was 6

Nostalgia for me as well. Sure, it isn't TSMM, 3D, interactive, or top-of-the-line technology, but I think it represents "old" WDW very well. I rode it as a boy with my parents and loved it. My boys love it now. After all, they get to "fly."

Old School at its best!!! My Disney trip is not complete until I ride PP. And at 56 yo, I'm still excited on every fly over!

Definitely mostly Nostalgia.

I remember riding it at Disneyland in 2006 and I made the mistake of not just looking down but REALLY looking down. As in not just taking in the sight of London below but actually gauging how high we were off the floor...seemed about 4 feet. It was kind of a magic killing moment and since then I have made an active effort to try not to look "beyond the magic" if that makes sense. Like I try to make an active effort not to look at ceilings of rides because it will make it evident that I am actually in a warehouse.

Peter Pan is also my favorite Disney male character so that makes it extra special for me.

I don't know what the draw is for me. I just know it is the first ride we head to when we enter MK. We ride about 3 times straight if its pretty much walk on then head across to Small World for a couple rides. Those two start our MK mornings every trip.

Love Peter Pan ride. It is magical every time I ride it.

Love it! The sad thing is I had asked my sister about it and she gave it such a bum review that we didn't even try it until my 4th trip. Guess that shows that everybody has their own opinion! I have to say, the second that we started to fly as you are starting to go over the bedroom, I was in LOVE! So magical. I can't even imagine riding it when the park opened in 1971. Only wish it was 3 times longer. It is the first MK ride we hit every time were are in the park. I just love that you fly over everything - London, Neverland, etc. I think it is the most magical feeling I get on a ride, sums up the magic of Disney for me.
Now if I could see the flying dragon in person.....wow!

It's simple and charming. Sometimes that is very appealing IMO.

I think this is a ride that I go on just b/c it seems everyone else needs to go on. That being said, the only times I ride it are if I'm using a FP in the afternoon or if I happen to walk by first thing in the morning with an almost empty line queue.

I never rode it and I don't feel my trips were any less magical because of that. It just never worked into my plans and we always had something more interested to do.

I love this ride. It's better than Dumbo and I like it best out of all of the Fantasyland rides. Mickeys Philharmagic is fabulous too, but that is a show not a ride. We ride this first thing in the morning and pull a FP for later in the day

It's definitely not worth waiting 30 minutes to ride. FP or early morning walk on is the way to go.

I know exactly what you mean. When we walk past Peter Pan and see people waiting in a 60+ minute wait, we can't understand it. I mean, I understand for some people it is nostalgia, but I would still either get a FP or go there at rope drop. I think the ride is cute and everything, but there is no way I would wait an hour for it. I realize the capacity is really low and that leads to the build up of the line, but given the choice between 2 or 3 other rides in an hour's time, or just riding Peter Pan, it would be a no-brainer for us.

We love it because of the charm, and who doesn't want to go to Neverland in a flying ship!!! Also, sometimes one forgets, these rides are across the board, so that the tiniest babes in arms, to the grannies and grandpas are all able to ride. Accounts for a good bit of the line as well!
