Peter Pan, Monte Cristos, and Fantasmic

We are WDW vets getting ready for a DL/CA trip that could use a little help. I have a few questions right now I'd love to get answered.

1. Can Peter Pan (the character not the ride) be regularly found somewhere at DL/CA and if so where? DD (4) loves him, has seen him on all 3 of her WDW trips, and is already talking about finding him at DL. I either need to figure out how to find him, or start getting her prepared for the fact that she probably is not going to get to hug him.

2. Is the Monte Cristo sandwich basically the same at Cafe Orleans and Blue Bayou? If not, which one is better.

3. What are the opinions on the Fantasmic dessert package? Worth it? Also, I've heard that you line up to pick seats, and then you leave for a while and come back and get in the seats. Personally, I don't care if we are in the front row (DD might prefer not to be), as long as we have a spot we don't have to fight the main crowd for and a seat. I'm fine with the back row, but since you pick your seats, does that mean if I am not in the front of the seat picking line, we might get separated (each of us getting a separate single seat somewhere apart from each other)

4. Probably a stupid question, but is the 8:00 a.m. dining reservation call in Pacific time? (I'm used to the WDW reservations being on Eastern time).

Any help would be appreciated. (Ooh and I know there are other threads on this, but if anyone wants to chime in on whether we should pick Goofy's, Minnie's, or Ariel's for a character meal, I'd love to hear that too.) I got to spend 1 day at DL/CA on a business trip a couple of years ago, but this is our 1st time with DD, so I have a ton of questions.

Well, I can answer question #2. The Monte Cristo is the same at BB and CO. Our waiter at CO confirmed that the two restaurants share a kitchen. The only differences are that you can only get the MC at the BB during lunch and they are cheaper at CO. Hope that helps!

I'm not sure about Peter Pan's regular "hangout" but I see him often when we go.

#3. You checkin to get your seat assignments. You will not be separated from your family, the person checking in picks the seats. Once checked in you can leave and come back, but when we did this the last time, last August, if you left the area you would play hell getting back to the seating area just because of the crowds and the congestion.

DL is PDT until it goes to DST in the fall.

Peter Pan often shows up with the Mad Hatter & Alice at Coke Corner (Main Street) around 2:30pm to play musical chairs

If you are just going to Disneyland for a short while and cannot stake out a place to sit for hours, then I think this is a good option. Check-in is at 8pm, and people who want the best seats will get there early, but if you're looking for the last row, you should be fine by getting there around 7:30 or so. The earlier you get the better seats you get. I prefer the middle section, but I've been in the section in front of the Haunted Mansion & enjoyed it well there, too.

(Ooh and I know there are other threads on this, but if anyone wants to chime in on whether we should pick Goofy's, Minnie's, or Ariel's for a character meal, I'd love to hear that too.) My favorite is Ariel's Grotto. Food is good quality and presented well. The princesses will all visit your table. We really enjoy this meal. I've been to all of them, though I haven't been to Goofy's Kitchen in a few years.

#1: I have seen Pan running all over the place, going through the tunnel from Fantasyland to Snow White's Grotto, near Pixie Hollow and around the hub towards the castle. He is really all over the place. Careful though, at least one Pan has no problem running off even if there is a line formed on him.

The Monte Cristo is on the Blue Bayou's lunch menu, but not their dinner menu. The Monte Cristo is more expensive at the BB than CO:

Blue Bayou - Lunch Menu (Lunch served 11:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.)

Le Special de Monte Cristo - Turkey, ham, and swiss cheese in a battered egg bread, lightly fried to a golden brown. With Blue Bayou potatoes and seasonal vegetables. $21.99

Cafe Orleans serves the Monte Cristo and the Three-Cheese Monte Cristo:

Cafe Orleans

Monte Cristo Sandwich - Sliced turkey, ham and Swiss cheese fried in a light batter and served with berry puree dusted with Powdered Sugar. $15.99

Three-Cheese Monte Cristo - Swiss, mozzarella and Double Creme Brie fried in a light batter and served with Berry Puree dusted with Powdered Sugar. $15.99

I liked the Monte Cristo better than the Three-Cheese Monte Cristo, but that's just my opinion.
