Peter Pan- am i missing something?

For me personally I do not get it either but the first time I rode it I was a parent. So I do not have the nostalgia but I will for my DD.

SHE LOVES IT... She screams "Bye Nana" and talks to every single character she sees LOL. This by far is her favorite ride so yes we will probably wait for it but no more than an hour and we usually pick up a FastPass for it in the morning as to not wait in the line. But it is a must do in our family.

Eh it was ok, broke down twice when we went last fall. Breaking down wasn't the problem thought guess I expected more given the massive wait times. I cute but I think without the childhood nostalgia it's just ok. Not going to bother next trip unless its a Walk on.

We love riding Peter Pan...its a classic. Mostly nostalgia I guess. However, we wont wait in a crazy long line for it. If we can catch it without waiting around too long we will ride it.

The Peter Pan ride had some of the longest wait times of any ride in MK while I was there and was like this consistently whenever I checked the MDE app. Quite frankly, neither me nor my kids thought the ride was that good- certainly did not warrant a 70 minute wait or a late day FP return. What gives? Was it that PP just happened to be popular that week or is this generally the case? What is the appeal? Or is it that the ride is just so slow that what would be a 10 min wait on another ride is much longer here?

It's several things, but for us, it's the music that makes this attraction our second favorite at the Magic Kingdom. If the music doesn't make you smile, then you'll never get this attaction.

I've actually never been on Peter Pan, in part because of the wait times. I agree it's a classic and it's on my list to do in January when hopefully wait times will be lower, but for me it doesn't have the small must-do feel that BTMR has.

The Peter Pan story, and by extension the attraction, is everything I love about a Disney vacation. The escapism, getting to "be a kid", getting to play, not having the real world worries - it's all Neverland.

It has so little to do with the attraction, and so much to do with the feelings and the emotion tied to it. I hope the day never comes that I'm going to Disney just to "ride rides" or try the biggest/fastest/newest thing - IMO, Disney has never been about that. It's not about rides, it's about stories.

Funny that I stumbled across this thread today. Just last night I was thinking we have never been on this ride during 4 lenghty trip to WDW. The wait time versus appeal always scared us off and we weren't willing to waste a FP on it. We were looking at rides we would book with FP+ if it goes live before our December trip and wondering if we would finally ride this ride. :)

best answer about anything wdw evah!

I like the very simplicity and sweetness of the ride. We won't wait for a long time but we often get fastpasses for it.

I was 11 when I first rode this ride in 1987. I love the feeling that I'm flying high above a city and looking down on the world. I totally agree with both of the statements above. It's a classic ride and I hope Disney never gets rid of it. I loved the way my kids reacted the 1st time they rode it. The smiles and the excitement. Plus, I just love Peter Pan. One of my favorite Disney movies.

You can't really compare the wait times for PP and SM. People seem to be glossing over what Robo said. Nostalgia and broad appeal and no height restrictions are great explanations for its popularity. But what makes the wait times so long is that it is one of the SLOWEST loading rides in all of WDW. The number of people that can be accommodated per hour is seriously limited. By contrast, SM loads practically at light speed.

I'm flattered whenever someone makes this mistake. :)

I appreciate this answer but I don't think anyone needs to wait on line for an hour to make you feel like a kid again at the MK. You sort of get that the moment you enter the park and as you wander around all the imaginary genius that went into putting the place together.

Yeah, I totally went big picture on my reply. I gave up waiting more than 20+ minutes for anything about a decade ago ;)

Edit: If you are in fact waiting 1 hour for Peter Pan... You're doing. It. Wrong. lol

A good big picture:). I always use one of our fp runs for pp. 20 minutes is our cut off too!

Peter Pan is my favorite. While all of disney brings out the young in me, the fun of flying when I was 10 in 1973 will always be an all time favorite. Just like boating with the pirates.

LOL! I actually did wait the 70 minutes- I had no idea what the ride was about but assumed that since the wait time was so long, it must be a great ride so we stuck it out. Now I know and will not be making that mistake again!

I love PP because you fly over London....I love the street scene.

It's needs to have a modern rehab but its still awesome!
