Pete had mentioned the website David's DVC rentals a while back (www.dvcrequest.com). Has anyone used this service yet/before?

I'm wondering what (if any) the cancelation policy was like? I don't see that on his website. (see deposit is refundable; but looks like points contract isn't; so maybe that's my answer) We would obviously try not to cancel but sometimes things happen and just want to know what my options are?

Also what your overall experience was like?

There are threads on the DVC board regarding David's service.

Once you make a reservation you cannot back out due to the way DVC works. DVC members cannot just make and reschedule reservations willy nilly. Depending on when the reservation is made within the member's "Use Year" they can be blocked for a period of time for making a new reservation if they cancel a reservation. And the points will have to be used within a period of time if the reservation has been canceled.

We just looked at David's service for family members. While buying DVC points through David would have saved quite a bit of money the family members decided to just book the rooms through WDW due to health concerns. There is a chance they might have to cancel the reservations.

In our case the points from David would have been about half the price compared to buying the rooms from WDW. My take was you KNOW you will loose half the money if you book with WDW. You MIGHT loose half the money if you cannot go on the vacation for some reason. *** WE *** would have used David if it had been our money. :rotfl:

David pays half the money to the DVC owner when the points are used to make the reservation and the rest is paid after the reservation date.

We are in DVC and if we ever needed some extra points one year we would use David's service. There is a minimum number of points you have to buy though.

Later,
Dan

We are booked through David for a stay at AKL in Nov/Dec 2010. He has been great to work with and very helpful. But there as the PP outlined, there is no cancellation, so you have to be pretty certain you'll be able to make the trip. But for us the option of an AKL Savannah view DVC Studio for the price of a Mod was worth the risk. :)
