Petals & Pixie Dust Planning Journal 11/30/2009/2010

Happy Labor Day!
This means a day off for me and time to (hopefully) finish some wedding projects. It seems that whenever I tell DH that I 'm finishing wedding stuff he gives a big sigh and says "What needs to be done...Everything is finished isn't is. There shouldn't be anything else to do." Silly boy.:rotfl:

So, my goal today is to get those dang books that I started done. Yeah...Who's bright idea was this in the first place??? I'd like to get my final mailing out at the end of this month. A lofty goal I know , but a girl can try! :thumbsup2

Now, as promised, photos from my bolero making session!
I am very lucky to have a very talented friend that was willing to guide me through this process. I couldn't have done it without her! :thumbsup2

First, the cost difference. I paid $1 for the pattern (on sale at Jo-Anne Fabrics) $3 for needles for my friends sewing machine and $20 dollars for fabric (30% off at a local fabric shop) Total Cost $24 plus tax
Etsy and Ebay ran much higher than this. :teacher:

I had originally asked my friend how I was going to get a good match with the color of my dress. Her reply was to not bother and take a color from the wedding itself b/c unless it came from the manufacturer and from the same dye lot you'll never get an exact match. I trust her judgement, she knows how I get about things matching perfectly, and that I'm not so certain I could match 'light gold witha diamond white overlay' so I went with it. :rolleyes1

Here are the pics...

(I head my head tipped down...not the most flattering shot  but you get the picture!)

I think it turned out pretty well. I love it and love that I got to spend time with a friend and that she will have her own little spot in our wedding. :flower3:

I will say that the color is a bit brighter than I had thought it would be but I'm only planning on wearing it for the dessert party. Either way I love it!

ok I don't know what happened there...I made all the pics medium in photo bucket and they are huge...I did get kicked off of photobucket a couple of times in the process...Oh well...Sorry

Its' ok, they're coming up as a good size on my computer. I had the same problem with photobucket the other day when posting pics of my rings, but they're all good now.

I love your bolero! It's perfect! I'd be very happy with that, especially for $24!

I am super happy with it! She is finishing up a couple of things that are way too advanced for me to do...but I love it! AND since it isn't ivory or white, I'll be able to wear it for other things (like the cruise to alaska 6 months later!)

75 days until we leave. I can't wait!!! :yay:
78 days until the wedding. Super Excited!!! :woohoo:
79 days until V&A (which I don't think is totally right...but that is what my counter says...) :cloud9:

In other news. Our trip is paid for. :thumbsup2 SIL and BIL do not have airfare yet. My parents have been awesome. :yay: And it even looks like I'm going to have a bachelorette party! :cheer2:

Not much more going on...I'm waiting for my BEO. I'm waiting for some things in the mail. Other than that I think I have it all together (or I could be totally lying to myself)

Off to work! Have a magical day!

YAY!!! so exciting.

haha don't worry about your SIL and BIL.....its their problem if they want to wait and pay more! haha

I'm glad you'll get a bachelorette party! I hope its really fun!

yeah right..I hear ya. I feel bad b/c it is so important for DH for them to be there...that if they aren't there I will be really disappointed for him...:sad2: Not sure how I feel about the whole thing...but def. frustrated.

And I have to recant what I said about not having much to do..I still need a timeline... Figure out what I'm doing about my nails (see main board) and my hair..well...that's another story...going to get it trimmed and will talk to my girl about it...might just have to do a trial with her...which is fine...but augh...i do have various pics with bits and pieces to take from them...we will see..

I know how you feel about getting people to book. My sister has decided that they will be getting a loan to come :headache: They don't need a loan to come, they just need to save money! It's frustrating seeing them spend all this money on things, like the other week they bought a $2000 lounge chair, and then they decided that they needed to go to see a band play in concert twice... :confused3

I can't say anything because it's their money, and they're free to do what they want with it. I just get so frustrated that they're blaming me for making them spend money on a holiday, even though I've told them several times if they don't think they can afford it I wont be offended if they don't come...

ah, sorry, mini rant in your PJ! :guilty:

I'm happy everything is coming together for you. It's getting so close now! It will only be a month away before you know it, and then it will be here! :scared1:

No worries about this...I'm pretty sure you said everything I couldn't :thumbsup2:lmao:
And lets not speed things up too quickly...I still don't know where the time went!

65 Days until we leave
69 Days until the wedding
70 Days until V&A (which doesn't seem right...but that is what the counter says on my desk top...
AND
249 Days until our Alaskan Cruise on DCL

Bolero is done...Still waiting on DEO and hanger for dress...
I'm torn about what to do with my dress...Take it with me in a carry on OR ship it...I'm afraid to ship it.
I'm going to do a hair trial with my hairdresser here...
I'm still working on the freakin' time line...I emailed Misty today...looks like I might have to add an extra hour...aw shucks! :rotfl: That is my biggest stressor right now, but it will work out.

I talked to my WP...She's behind a little on the BEO...she hasn't heard from Rose and October weddings came falling from the sky...Sheesh don't people plan anything anymore??? :confused3 No worries..I have a little time...

OH and I still need to get DH and FOB fitted for tuxes and figure that out. I'll plan a day for that on Sunday of this week-we are having dinner at my parents house.

TO DO LIst

Jewel up my shoes...just a little...I have lite blue crystals that I'm going to put on the bottom of my shoes in the shape of mickey heads....I have little parts of my guide books that need to be finished (timeline) and those need to go out before the end of October...Get photo list together...

I think that sums it up for now....I'm kind of getting excited!

So, I'm trying to get all of this stuff together. Its a bit harder than I thought, but with a little work, is coming together...I think :rolleyes1

Here is my rough timeline...I have to send this to my WP and see what she has to say about it.
During my initial conversation with her she mentioned that typically DH would be picked up at 4 for the first look and the rest picked up at 430 for a 5PM wedding...Here is what I have let me know what you think...

2: Hair & Make-up
3: Misty to show up. (she said she wouldn't show up any less than 2 hours prior to the wedding to photograph the details.)
4: DH and FOB picked up.
4:30: Everyone else picked up
5: Wedding
6: Cake cutting/Mickey & Minnie/Pre-reception
7: Dinner
9: Fireworks and dessert
11: Van to take guests back to the Pop

Someone posted some pics (maybe on the disney wedding blog) of Wishes from the White Hall Patio...The monorail is an obstruction...but Misty said we could go to the Summer House...Love how she thinks of these things...:thumbsup2

I'm bringing stuff to Franck's on Monday.
Need to find out what time DH and I leave GF to get to the WP.

I still need to finish:
-Ordering our glass (Jewish wedding tradition)
-Fix up our vows...(We are using the same ones from the first wedding...just doctoring them up a bit with a reading, blessing and glass breaking)
-Get Tuxes squared away
-Hair trial -hair stylist said she could take care of this...need to check price *gulp*
-Order water to have it sent to resort. (we always do this and it saves us a TON when going....)
-Figure out what scent I want to wear on our wedding day...any suggestions?
-Get Vinylimation Mickey at DTD as a "guest book"
-Book golf
-update ressies for a couple ADRs

Things to pack in my carry on
-Dress
-Place Cards
-to-go boxes
-Glass
-Jewelry & Accessories

Not sure what we are doing about the tux thing...get them there or get them at home??? :confused3

Glass Breaking
This has been an interesting experience. We wanted to do a glass breaking ceremony, but what do you do with the shards of glass afterwords? :confused3 So, we did some looking. I found a place that takes the shards and melts them down into a bowl or vase....DH didn't like that much. Figured we would have a great dust collector that will eventually break. :guilty: As much as I have to admit it...I had to agree with him. The cheapest we could do that was $360+$60 for engraving + $65 for shipping :teacher: It pretty much came to the same price that it would cost to get my bouquet done at keepsake floral...or at least pretty close and I veto'd that based on price.

So, we looked for some other things. :surfweb: Which is not as easy as it sounds...And found a kaleidoscope...We would take the shards of glass and put them in the kaleidoscope...the base would be engraved so we would have our names and date...~$36 for the glass with pouch and $120 for the kaleidoscope and $10 for the engraving...MUCH BETTER! :woohoo: AND I'm going to have a woman that makes glass beads make a couple of those so that I will always have them :cloud9: Perfect!:goodvibes

Tea Party invitations are made...will post pic shortly...
Those need to go out.

Here are a couple of questions on tips...I know I don't tip photo or officiant b/c they own the companies. I know I should do something for WP. Do I have to do anything for hair and make-up? :confused3 HELP! I don't want to do the wrong thing here...

65 days...almost there...I'm still shocked...where did 2 years go.:upsidedow

It is so exciting that you are so close now! YAY:goodvibes

That is such a great idea with the glass ceremony. I know what you mean about the dust collector, but I think a bowl or vase would be really nice, but than again, I do have quite a few items like that and actually use them. The kaleidoscope sounds great too though, and such a better price!

For tips, I gave one to all my photographers. With the WDW ones, they obv don't own their own companies, so I have them something, and for David and Vicki, because they worked so hard, I gave them a bit extra as well. For our planner, we gave her a gift card, and for hair/makeup, I gave a 20% tip.

I had completely forgotten you were cruising to Alaska, DH and I have decided we are cruising to Alaska for our 1 year anniversary but we're going to go in August close to our actual anniversary.

That's awesome! What can I break that can be made into a kaleidoscope?? I wonder if they do it here anywhere. If our glasses break on the trip home I can get them done!

I know...I have no clue where the time went!
20%...now to just budget for that..:headache:

I can't wait. I'm actually putting my vacation time in this week :yay: It's 6 months out...but I don't want to get stuck with the whole "seniority" bit if someone else needs that time off...Now the big debate is take 1 week or 2 weeks off... The decisions...

I can't wait to see how it turns out...the only problem is how do we get our broken glass home?!?!?!
