Petals & Pixie Dust Planning Journal 11/30/2009/2010

That's good to know. It sort of annoyed me with mine because I had researched all of these companies that were going to do my cake for me, and I was fine with paying about $400 for it, but mum told me to come and see this friend of the family, and she offered to do it for $100, so I jumped at it. Hindsight is 20:20 and I should have gone with the more expensive option, but it doesn't matter much now...

I like your favour ideas! It's very cute!

Good luck with your test! I hope you sail through it! Have a great time in NY and let us know when you hear anything about your interview!

Thank you!

I would have been mad if I paid any amount of money and didn't get what I wanted too! The way I see it is that I'm getting the supplies (most with a 40-50% off coupon) She's doing all the work just to lick the bowl! :dance3: We are going with a dark chocolate cake with fudge filling :thumbsup2

Glad you like the favor idea...I think the cost break down is about $1.50/person...Not bad

Hey hun,

I just wanted to say good luck with the test tomorrow :goodvibes

UM...I'M GETTING MARRIED IN 20 DAYS!!!
There are a bunch of emotions with this that range from
:lovestruc:love::cloud9::scared1::dance3::yay::banana::cloud9::love::lovestruc

Um...Yes and then I realized that um...I have a ton to do...this list includes...

-Checking on the time we are getting married...I'm pretty sure that this will be 7PM. However, DF's mom has not gotten back to me yet to confirm...So, I'm going with 7PM (THIS JUST IN...IT SOUNDS LIKE 7PM IS GOING TO BE TOO LATE...MAYBE 5...WHO THE HECK KNOWS!!! :rotfl:)
-Invites...Really do I need them? I think I just want to make them :rotfl: I know I still need to send them to the President and Mickey & Minnie...
-Thank you cards
-I need to purchase the stamps for those
-Favors:This is a sore spot right now...I am making tea bag covers. Easy...A friend of ours said that we go together like "Coffee and Biscotti" (we have more tea drinkers than coffee drinkers...so tea it is) So, I found this place online that makes individually wrapped biscotti. I got in contact with the owner...And have been waiting for a paypal request to put through the order and haven't seen it. NOT happy...So, I'm going to keep trying for the next couple of days...If that doesn't work. I'm going to get a couple of bags of mini shortbread cookies from Panara Bread...individually wrap them and put those and the tea in a chinese food container...
-I need to make a hair and make up appt (and make sure I have enough money to do that)
-I need to pick up the rest of the cake supplies-Gum Paste, fondant, and filling...We are having a dark chocolate cake with fudge filling YUM!
-I have to get toeless stockings...My mother doesn't like my teva tan lines and is giving me grief! AUGH...She said I could do whatever I want for the Disney wedding...but she is not budging on this...then I saw her wink at DF..So, I think it I push it I'll win...

I think my photographer is just as excited as I am...

Apparently, DF's bro is joining us...this is new...:confused3 My mom will be excited...she claims the boy doesn't exist.

Now, I've been trying to upload photos into photobucket...but the dang thing is being temperamental...GRRRR...

I will try again later!

I will also be off to AC Moore tomorrow for some odds and ends...Time is flying by now!!!HOLY COW!

:furious: I am not happy with iphoto and photobucket right now!!!! They don't seem to be speaking to each other and will not let me upload pics of DF's tie, some ribbon I got while in NYC, and my hair floral!

If you have any insight into this please help!

Second...DF and I have come to an agreement about our vows. If you would like to see them PM me. I'm not certain I want to post them publicaly...Don't want to ruin the surprise!!!

Holy cow! I just read your PJ start to finish, and it was AMAZING. I had snacks and everything... it was like a soap opera!

I am so glad you're able to have your health insurance wedding (I have been living without any for a couple months and still have a couple to go until the wedding) and your dream Disney wedding. And Alaska! Wow!

I cannot wait to see all the pictures and hear all about it. I am definitely subscribing to this!

Hi-ya! Thanks for joining along for the ride! Snacks and everything huh??? I hope there was some chocolate in there!
**I'll post pictures as soon as photobucket finds them :rolleyes1

Ok...So, I'm up way too early (I don't have to be to work until NOON!) I should have slept in but DF's alarm woke me up! :headache: Oh well. For all the times that I have woken him up with my alarm, I guess I deserve it

So, I thought I would spend sometime this AM figuring out what the deal is with photobucket and I found a way to beat the system...Apparently, it doesn't want to find things in iphoto. What ever, I figured it out.

So, last weekend I spend some time in NYC. It was an amazing trip and my cousin (DC) was AWESOME! On Friday our trip was pretty much dedicated to finding wedding stuff. We went to Bryant Park-which I have to tell you was pretty cool. They had a free ice skating rink and then all of these little shops around the park. I saw one that was lined with ties. Now, this isn't the best tie in the world...but it's cute and goes with the black and white theme...That and it was $20....So, I thought what the heck...I got a new dress...the least I could do was get DF a new tie right? I sent him a text to see if he liked it...but he took too long to answer the text so...I bought it anyway...:rotfl:

His Tie

They were 2 for $25...I considered buying a second one...but decided against it. This one is fun and good enough...After all...this is for insurance purposes only! (more on that in a minute...did you think I'd get through this post without any drama! :rotfl:)

Next, we spent the rest of the day in the fashion district. We went to MJ Trimmings...Now, that is an amazing trim shop...but I couldn't find much that I had to have. I was a bit disappointed b/c another Disbride had highly recommended the shop...it was cool....I loved the hand dyed ribbon...but I just couldn't find what I was looking for...Then, DC found some ribbon that had organza with satin strips thru it and started making ribbon flowers. I loved it! The problem at MJ was that you could only buy ribbon by the foot in most cases...I knew if I was going to make these ribbon flower things I was gonna need something cheap and a lot of it...after all practice makes perfect right? :rolleyes1 We went from shop to shop most of the afternoon...We finally came across this roll of ribbon for $5!!!!

Ribbon

In one shop we say this flower as well...and I really like it...but think it might be too big for what I am going for...I figured if the ribbon flowers don't work, at least I have this as a backup...AND the best part was that it was only $5 too!!!

Hair Floral
IMG_4310.jpg

So, now I have to attempt to make ribbon flowers...and if not...we will use the big flower...Anyone have any opinions? Thoughts are welcome on this...I'm thinking the big flower...The more I see it the more I love it...but we will see.

Now, the drama update. Originally, we (my mom, DF and I) were going to have the wedding at 7PM. We tried to call DF's mom and ask about this...Would it be too late for the grandparents? No answer on the phone. Fine. We made and executive decision. 7PM it was. I email DF's mom to confirm...and I get a pretty blunt unhappy email. AND then find out that oh...yeah...DF's mom...brother....sister and BIL are all coming as well...UM...that wasn't the plan! The plan was small....no people b/c they will be at Disney...I about flip...quietly...DF and I have fought about this enough...I was more worried about my parents...This is at their house...there isn't that much space no one from there families would be there...Oh this was going to be a disaster. SO...I send an email to my mom explaining the situation...I think she heard my apprehension in the tone of the email...which is hard to do sometimes...and emailed me back that it was ok we would work it out. THANK GOODNESS! I went to my parents house that night and hugged my dad and said "Thank you...but this sucks." My parents have both been very supportive and I can't appreciate that enough!:goodvibes They even said if they were the only ones at the Disney wedding then so be it.
The following morning I woke up and called DF (he leaves for work at some ungodly hour...even though some days I have him beat on his leave time...and said..."You know what...Neither one of us are super happy about how all of this is playing out. So, lets go with wedding vow option #1. We will need to practice, but honestly, if people want to see the actual "vows" then they can come to Disney. Let's have fun with this!" He agreed that we can practice our vows and see how they turn out and go from there. (Again, PM me if you're interested...my mother found facebook...It would be my luck that she found this board and is reading along...:rotfl:)

So, to date...most problems are at rest. However, the cake maker isn't sure she will have enough time to make the cake...and the photographer still needs to figure out how to get out of work a little early...:rotfl2: But that is just details at the moment...Oh and we might have to have the ceremony in the family room...Where the TV is kind of an eye sore  Oh well what ever...

Here is my 'To Do List'

-Get stamps for favors and thank you cards (biscotti has been shipped!)
-Make both favors and thank you cards
-Purchase chinese food take-out boxes for favors
-Make hair/Make-up appt
-Get the rest of he cake supplies
-Get DF a crisp white shirt
-Get Photographer and Cake Maker AMEX GC's just to say "Thanks!"

17 DAYS!!!

All I can say is WOW! What an amazing day!

First, it started off that I went to return our bottles and cans at the grocery store. A little old woman came up to me and gave me a couple of cans and said that her grand-daughter puts them in there and she doesn't need them. I thank her and added a few more cents to my return. She leaves and then returns and gives me a slip for 15 more cents. Ok. I'm not sure what this is all about, but thank her none-the-less.
I went in to get my tea bags for my favors for the wedding in 16 days...and when I go to cash out, the woman at the register says "Wow! Look at that, you had the exact amount in bottles for your tea." When I explained about the little old woman we just smiled and both agreed that was a bit strange. I thought it was pretty cool...but WOW! How do those things happen like that?

I went to the store and picked up the stamps I needed for favors and thank you cards. I came home and called about various school loans...AUGH! I had to chase some information down..but it all worked out with minimal stress.

Finally, I was sitting around and my cell phone rings. I answer it and it is someone calling for an interview for a job I applied for MONTHS ago. Like 6-7 months ago! I thought...WOW! Isn't that interesting...AND she was flexible with a time to meet...Which MORE than works b/c I work Monday through Thursday at the photo job and then have Fridays off...I sent her an email stating that Fridays would work and am waiting to hear back at this point. Crazy! (The waiting for the email back is the hardest part!)

Finally, I came up with a teabag cover idea and will post pics later. I got the mini biscotti in the mail yesterday..THEY ARE SO CUTE AND PERFECT FOR WHAT I WANT! Now, I just have to find a chinese take out box to match size-wise. I'm making my way down my to-do list! :woohoo:

Tea Bag Covers: DONE
Thank You Tags: DONE
Toeless Pantyhose: DONE

I think I mentioned DF's g-parents are standing up for us. His gma was so cute! She called asking what I wanted her to wear. I told her I just wanted her to be comfortable. She said, "Well, we are standing up for you. Do you want me to get a dress? I know your mom will probably wear pants, but it's up to you what we wear." I really tried to not make a big deal about this. She mentioned that she had a pant suit with a lavender top. My reply was that I wasn't a fan of lavender. She replied "Well, see now that is why I called." So, we're going with jewel tones (she has a skirt and sweater combo to match this) She was so cute! :goodvibes She even asked if I was wearing a white dress...I replied that I was but it was t-length and that this wasn't a big deal. It was really sweet. I really appreciated her thoughts! :flower3:

Awww, grandma sounds lovely. How sweet of her.

Hey, good luck with the interview. It's funny how things turn out isn't it? How weird about the exact amount for the teabags!

i'm sure you don't need me to tell you - 14 days :goodvibes

Very sweet of her to call! I love her! She is a doll!

The interview situation..very interesting...the last interview that I wrote about that I had on 10/29-yeah..they called and offered me a second interview...the one that I just wrote about...had to bow out...grant funding issues...How weird is that! Keep your fingers crossed for me! The 2nd interview is for the job that I really want and have worked very hard to get! :wizard:
(The interview that had to bow out said that as soon as something opens up that I will be the first person they call!) WOW!

I still have so much to get done it's nuts!!! Hope I get it all done in time..and get pics posted for you girls!

My Nan had Alzheimers and before she got really bad she was so funny. She only drank tea and I didn't so when I went round I used to get a cup of hot water with milk and sugar. She used to say "How was your day? I'd tell you about mine but I can't remember a bl**dy thing." Priceless - I should have written a book about her.

Well get you Mrs Indemand!! Good luck sweetie, especially with the one you really want. Sending you loads of pixiedust:

Yep, don't forget the pictures or you know I'm on the first plane over for the slideshow :rotfl:
