Petals & Pixie Dust Planning Journal 11/30/2009/2010

Darn reality getting in the way! :sad2: But on the happier side of things... at least you won't have to wait as long for your wedding to get here! :yay: I wish I could bump mine up just because of that! Hehe.

Looking forward to seeing what the coordinator has to tell you! And I hope it all works out! :goodvibes

WHOA!!!! Thats so exciting that you might be moving the date up!!! :woohoo: You'll have to keep us posted on the new date! popcorn::

As far as hair goes i'm just as clueless :rotfl2: As an escape bride i was going to have my hair dresser mess around with my hair so i can figure out what i like. Once she does something i like i'm going to take pictures of it so that hopefully beaute speciale can recreate it for me. I so love the picture of the half up half down style you like. I agree that it looks more princess-y that the updo. I'm not doing a tiara but i do want some sort of headpiece so i'm going to be watching for how you decide to do your hair! :goodvibes And for my senior prom (so long ago) I did half up and half down with a tiara. Its definatly do-able you might have to tweak the style alittle bit but you can do it! :thumbsup2

Yeah...I think Winona Ryder said it best-"Reality Bites!" :rotfl:
I'm waiting on the call from the coordinator first. More to come I am sure.

First, date-no worries...it will all be posted I'm sure! :thumbsup2
Second, hair-I'm going 1/2 up 1/2 down...probably a cross between the style I picked out and Lynn's (I hope she doesn't mind)
I'm planning on working with my mom a bit to practice-she used to be a hair dresser...So, that helps. :thumbsup2

Someday, I will be able to sleep at a reasonable hour...However, tonight isn't the night...:headache:

Anyway, here is where we are with things...
January is out-Dad won't have the vacation time to take off from work.
DF spoke with FMIL who is just going with the flow.
I have turned into the equivalent of a the temper tantrum kid that has to have her way. :rotfl: Let me explain.

There isn't much I dream about. And honestly, when it came to my wedding...I didn't start thinking about a Disney wedding until DF suggested we look at it...say...like...oh...I don't know...7.5 years ago. The thought always stuck. (So, for the record-this is all his fault...and if he ever reads this...just like him golfing is my fault...:rotfl:) What is more perfect (for us) than our immediate family at the one place in the world that we have the most amazing memories of? :cloud9: This is just one of those things. I know that when we get married and have children the focus isn't about "us" per-say...it's about our family and our children. I don't want to look back on our wedding and wish I did what I really wanted. (I'm sure you can all relate)
So, during this whole adventure...We can't bump it up to Jan b/c dad doesn't have the vacation time to take off from work until March. March is one heck of a time to be in the world...crowded *boo* DF doesn't want to do the JP gig here-just to get the legalities out of the way and then get "married" as planned in Nov. (says we'd be paying for a really expensive photo op :headache:) The logical side of me understands where he is coming from...The temper tantrum child-not so much.:rolleyes1 I can't seem to pull away from having the perfect wedding. I can't just turn my head the other way and say that it's ok b/c I have the man of my dreams. The logical side makes me feel unbelievably stupid, selfish, and just dumb. While the Disney Bride in me feels like it isn't even worth showing up if it isn't a Disney wedding, that I'm just going to regret it, and that I'm going to be that bride with a sad look on my face...Just writing this makes me feel mad at myself! *LOL* (talk about your self imposed drama!:lmao:) Df showed me the chapel where he graduated college...it was beautiful...and I wanted nothing to do with it. How pathetic is that?

So, I'm looking for a plan that might work...Maybe May might work a bit better. It is exactly the middle between when my health insurance runs out and when we were going to get married...Enough time to save for some of the things I want...Enough time for our guests to save....Enough time for dad to get enough vacation time squared away. Yes, it is regular season...I think...but the weather is usually beautiful...We don't have to stay for the honeymoon...heck we will have AP's we can always come back...:woohoo:

Thoughts???

May would be a beautiful time to get married, I've never been to Florida, but I looked into pushing mine back to May, probably not going to happen, but if anything goes wrong, it's an option.

Personally, I'm going to get married in March, as already mentioned, I've never been to Florida, but I've found that early March is more then bearable when it comes to Spring Break, mainly because most schools are later in May. Disneyland was next to dead when we were there in early March last year.

When I decided on March or May, to be honest I looked at everything else that goes on during the year - birthdays and holidays, and picked a month that didn't have too much going on, March has DF's brother's birthday, and May has mother's day and DF's step mum's birthday, but that's it.

So, DFTW called today.
I spoke with Pam Pierce seemed very nice. She didn't tell me anything I didn't already know....but what can you expect when you've only been planning your DFTW for what seems like forever. :rotfl:

DF and I have a lot to talk about...*sigh*

I really feel like bridezilla...except I don't think I'm being mean or rude...just stubborn. I really want a DFTW...and as stated before...I have the logical angel on one shoulder saying "hey...do what ever you need to...it will be beautiful no matter what you do." and then I have the other bridal angel on the other shoulder saying "Are you kidding...You go get your DFTW and that is all there is about that!" *insert stamping foot here*
...and then I feel guilty for being difficult.:sad2:

Everything will work out. It's just a matter of figuring it all out. Which isn't going to happen over night...no matter how much I wish it would. Yes. I am the impatient one.

I so know where you're coming from it isn't even funny! :faint:

I have those same feelings, different reasons, but they suck. You feel like one of those spoiled little brats who throw a fit when they can't get their way but then you also feel like "its my day why shouldn't it be what i dreamed it would be?" Its a stinky feeling. :sad2:

You and your man need to sit down and you just need to let him know how you feel. I just posted on my PJ that DF and I are going to be compromising to make sure we BOTH get what we want out of the wedding.

I've never been to WDW in May but i've heard nothing but good things. :thumbsup2

I am sure there will be more discussion with us as well. I have some thoughts...suggestions...but I'm not sure what he will come up with...
I'm just going to hang on and see what happens.

Ok to elaborate on my last post...
It seems like DF and I are on similar pages of distinctly DIFFERENT books. We are on the same wave length-but unable to come to a decision b/c I'm pig headed. *oink* :headache:
He has some good ideas, but after I hear one thing...I'm not changing the direction of my thinking, or apparently following the same conversation. This seems to be why we can't get anything done.
So, a public shout out to my man...I'm sorry and will try to listen better in the future. :)

Ok so...Moving right along...(we've taken a break from discussing the possibilities...but still planning...:lmao::rolleyes1)

I'm going to go with the wedding band that is posted on page 22. Yes, it's curved...which I am sooo not happy about...BUT DF was right! (See honey-you are right!) I tried to put just a plain band up against my e-ring and it didn't work. Really didn't work. I just don't want my bands to separate and spin. *sheesh* Nor, do I want to sauder them together either...but we will see what it looks like when DF gets the photo from the designer...*fingers crossed*

Only a bride can go from PO'ed, to guilty, to positive in 3 posts! :rotfl2:

So, we are on the quest for an idea of what my wedding band will look like. DF called the jeweler who made my e-ring and asked him about getting pictures of the wedding band with the e-ring together. DF was told they can't do it b/c all the pictures of the rings are taken when the ring is made...Which if you think about it is pretty impressive. We got my e-ring from the same place and got it the next day.
I'm still really torn on this whole dip thing in the ring. (see pic page 22) They are going to spin and separate...I know it!!! DF seems to think I'm nuts...:lmao: HOwever, when I try my e-ring up against different bands there is a gap b/c the setting of my e-ring has an X prong...*sigh*
I just showed the band to a friend of mine and her advice is that if we are getting the band from the same jeweler it should be fine. I'm just having a hard time having a little faith in something I can't see...:confused3

So, in order to shut me up...I mean...put my mind to ease...DF and I are going to go and try different rings on...Some with dips...some without...and see what works...Any thoughts???

We have a ring! We went to see Harry Potter today and then went to some jewelry stores...No one has anything similar to the ring that I had posted previously...
We went to one store that showed us a plain band and then some with dips in the but there were all prong to prong settings. The sales lady mentioned something about having a band made so that my e-ring would fit together with the band like a puzzle piece...However, I was going to have to send out my e-ring so that it could be fitted. Um....No. :scared:
We went to the second store and started trying things on. We looked at some with dips and filagree, which was all wrong for my ring. -but I was assured they could make it with a polished finish -of course. We looked at a few for DF too...but nothing worth mentioning. The sales lady then said that it might be best that we go back to the people that made my e-ring and look at their designs. Um...yeah...we've done that and I don't like them. :rolleyes1 She did mention something about having little balls of gold put into my ring to stablize it so it doesn't spin...I took a mental note. She also kept showing me white gold. :confused3 (remember this)
As we walked to the 3rd store I told DF I was going to end up with the ring from the jeweler that made my band even though I'm not thrilled with it :sad2:
The third store we went to was rather snooty...you know those stores I'm talking about...the wear all black and look like they've been in the business forever- and you're afraid to ask questions for fear of looking like an idiot...yeah one of those stores...but they were having a sale. Once we sat down with the lady she very polite. I was relieved. She also commented that my ring was platinum and I'm pretty sure that all she showed me was platinum. (I was impressed) She showed us a couple with stones and without. I offered to have DF try some on and he declined and said I would try some one first and then he would. I tried one on that had diamonds set and spaced out along the ring like the side stones in my e-ring. It was close but not quite. Then she had me try on on that had 5 side stones that were set the same way the side stone were on my e-ring. They span perfectly from one side stone to the next and I was in love :lovestruc it was perfect. I could wear it with my e-ring or alone. It was perfect. DF made some comments about the spinning :headache: I should have seen that coming...but explained that at least with the band it will spin and not have so obvious b/c there was no dip in the setting. He must have seen something in my eyes b/c I loved it and didn't want to take it off. DF then tried on some very cool rings as well. He then mentioned that we should go get something to eat before the mall closed and asked the woman when they closed...She said they closed in 45 minutes. :scared1: He said we would return after we ate.
We left and after leaving the store asked if I wanted that ring. I love that ring...Yes, I wanted that ring...We sat down and did the math quickly...and we went back and got the ring!!! :cloud9:
When we returned I nearly ran over some kid trying to get to the show case (Sorry kiddo!) DF was apologizing..the mother was apologizing to DF who just told her not to worry about it. I got to the show case and sat down so I didn't hurt anyone. The sales lady pulled out the ring. I tried it on again and still loved it. So, we finished the transaction...I've never wanted to do the happy dance before-ever as much as I did then!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

On the way home DF said that he isn't sure the ring he chose online was the right one and that the ring my ring looked good!!! :lovestruc So, the next challenge is to find him a ring....:thumbsup2

It was a very very good day!!! :goodvibes
