Petals & Pixie Dust Planning Journal 11/30/2009/2010

The monograms look really awesome!! I love them. Sorry about your MOH moving away. My MOH is my brother...he doesn't have a choice :goodvibes You know you can always come to the Dis and we'll listen to you gladly! Good luck in the job hunt...it definitely is a pain in the butt.

Very strange dream:lmao: Bet you were happy to wake up:thumbsup2

Just wanted to send some pixie dust your way for the job situation
pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

I'm ok with HMOH moving away...there really wasn't a ton she was going to do anyway I guess b/c she wasn't actually coming to the wedding.

Thank you for letting me come here to chat!!! :thumbsup2

Thank you for the good wishes on the job hunt...I'll know by the end of the month about my first choice job...*fingers crossed* :wizard:

What absolutely beautiful monograms, my favorite is the second one... beautiful... I ended up doing our aisle runner and then I framed it, it came out really nice

I've had weird wedding dreams too! They're usually along the lines of me not having anyone to do my hair and makeup, and everyone expecting me to organise and do everything myself the morning of the wedding.
It wouldn't be such an unsettling dream, except for the fact that I simply can not do hair and makeup! :lmao:

Thanks Auntpunkin did the monograms. They turned out really well. Did you like the red and tiffany blue or red and gold.

I never thought about framing an aisle runner...Hmmm...Now about the aisle-that's a whole other story! I still don't know what I'm going to do with that...

YIKES :scared1: I think it will just be me and my mom getting ready...I don't know. :confused3 Mom will do her own hair and make-up I'm sure. I hope she plans on doing a little more than her usual mascara, blush and lipstick. I want her to look dazzling too!

Today was a great day...I spent sometime hiking by myself and let some of the job-hunting/waiting stress go...it must have been the yelling at my GPS that did it! :lmao:

So, I came home to a new Modern Bride magazine...strange...I never sent away for it, but what ever. I'm stuck on a hairstyles. I'm thinking 1/2 up 1/2 down. I might go with something similar to what Lynn did. I don't know. Now I kind of wish I didn't spend the money on the tiara...I almost think I'd look better without it...Who knows. Oh well...We will figure it out.

I started looking at some different things.

To start with I want to have a tea party. There will only be 4-5 of us...Most likely 4 b/c I really don't think DF's grandparents will make the trip. :guilty: That makes me sad...but I wouldn't want them to do something that was unsafe for them either.

Anyway, I was looking at allears and saw the menu for tea time and the time...between 2-4. Um. Ok...So, here is my issue...I'm planning on doing HDDR the night before the wedding. I'm most likely going to go with a 5pm seating. My mom is diabetic, and so is DF's gma (should she make it to the wedding). So, it only makes sense to have an early meal and not send their blood sugars all out of whack. Then, I think...geez...I want to do the tea party...BUT...if we get a 2pm seating...sit for an hour and a half...that puts us at 3:30. Ok...that gives us 2.5 hours until our dinner seating. Hmmm...How does that work??? :confused3 I love the food at the HDDR!!! I am sure that my girls will love the tea party and I want them to enjoy it and enjoy the food as well but feel like I'm stuffing them at the tea party and hoping they can work off the full stomach by 5pm.

Seriously, how filling can tea sandwiches be? Me, I'm ordering the gardenview tea, 2 jelly tarts and strawberries and cream. I'll eat lunch about noon anyway...this will just be a snack for me...to tide me over until we get to the greasy goodness that will send me into a huge worry as to whether or not I will fit in my dress the next day-but it will be so worth it! :rotfl2:

The boys will be golfing that day (should all things go as planned) So, by 5pm they will probably be starving. I'm kind of wondering if I should plan something else for the girls. I thought maybe Pick-A-Pearl at Epcot...but I don't know who is going to have park passes or if they are just coming for the wedding or what... Why am I worrying about this 1.5 years in advance :dance3: I need a life...and a job. :rotfl:

So, the question is...What else can I do with my girls other than feed them? Mom and I are probably going to do the massage/pedi/mani bit in the morning...So, the tea party fit well into the schedule...
:rolleyes1 Nevermind, I think I have my answer...I forgot about the massage/mani/pedi bit... Sheesh!

Ok now that I've babbled enough...off to look at some other wedding thing that will send me into an whirlwind only to realize that it all made sense anyway...Maybe I should work on the timeline...

I need a clue! :scratchin

oh boy... be on the lookout your going to get tons of bride magazines!! I never sent away for them and I think I have gotten like 12 of modern bride and/or brides (or whatever that other one is called). Those are like $7 a pop and they are totally wasting it on me because I have had my wedding planned for over a year now! I gave them to my MOH bc she is getting married next year. I really would like to know how they just show up though!

I wish they sent out free wedding magazines here...

I was going to suggest the mani/pedi thing for your girls too. That's what I'm leaning towards doing.

How is that a good marketing strategies? Don't they loose money? Don't get me wrong. I'll take a free magazine any day. When I'm done I'll pass them on to a bride at work. :wizard:

Sorry Bec. Yeah. Mom and I will do the mani/pedi thing...then the tea party. i'm not going to stress...No worth it. If they eat too much I can say I told you so! :rotfl:

Good Morning!
I'm up bright and early today but with good reason. Today is my friends wedding day! No, I'm not in the wedding party. However if her MOB doesn't show-like she didn't yesterday for the rehearsal-I'm the understudy :rotfl: I'm hoping she shows up b/c there were a lot of steps that went along with their ceremony. Wait here. GM comes to get you. Bow at the alter. Kneel. I just hope she gets it all in the explanation before she has to do it.

Why am I not in the wedding? Cost mostly. We had a super long talk about it and she wanted me to be in the wedding but understood with school, not working full time and my wedding coming up that I couldn't do it & she didn't want to ask and put me in that position. I also didn't want to not want to NOT be able to do what she deserved. We were in agreement and both totally understood where the other was coming from.

Instead, I will be manning the video camera. It was the one thing that my friend wanted that she mentioned last night at dinner that she didn't have. I looked at her and said, "I have one. You want it taped consider it done!" She looked at me totally bewildered and said "I totally forgot you have one." My reply was that most of the time I forget too-So, lets use it!!! :yay: I'm happy b/c I can do something for her. DF and I will edit the video for her before giving back to her....Which she doesn't know yet. :goodvibes

Unfortunately, it is raining here and dreary. :sad2: Figures. Maybe we will get lucky and it will clear up before we have to be at the church.

So, if you could please send her some Dis Pixie Dust her way for a wonderfully magical beginning to her happily ever after!!! :wizard:

PS She is using a bracelet of mine for her something borrowed and I made a friendship pin with blue beads on it for her something blue. :flower3:

How did the wedding go? Do you have any pics you can post? You may not be able to copy anything she's done, but we sure can! :lmao:

The wedding was simple and beautiful! It went well. Unfortunately, I don't have any pics b/c I was manning the video camera. I'll try to get some though.

There wasn't much for decore. There was a railing that separated the alter from the seating area. She put votives around the railing. Lighting was low so it twinkled. Very pretty.

The reception was in the basement of the church. She had glas jars with candles in them surrounded by silk flowers.

The bride made her flowers and bouts. I'll have to track down some photos of those. She did a really good job! :thumbsup2

Favors were Hershey hugs and kisses in a box with a tag that said "Hugs & Kisses from the new Mr. & Mrs." The tags were stamped with 3 hearts. My friend has a daughter from a previous marriage and they incorporated her in the wedding in as many ways as possible.

Food was great! Chicken, beans, potatos, salad, fruit, rolls. It was yummy! The cake was made by one of the choir girls. 3 tiers with 3 penguins on the top. (He proposed at the penguin exhibit at our local zoo)

It was great! So happy for her!

Oh and they engraved their rings with "My happily ever after" So sweet!

Off to go plan more of mine! :lovestruc Seeing and being part of hers put me in the mood to plan more! I'll be back later to post I'm sure!
:dance3:

Awww, glad you had a good day at the wedding!

We were at one a couple of weeks ago (Jack was best Man) and it put us both on a bit of a weddingy/romance high for a few days. Shame we can't go to wedding mroe often! Lol.

Looking forward to some more planning updates! :)

Coming Up! :surfweb:

So, since my friends wedding DF and I have had some discussion of our own. :goodvibes

We've talked about doing the Disney Honeymoon Registry-but nixed it when we realized that the card HAS TO BE USED during our honeymoon-and if it is not used we DO NOT get a refund on money that we received as gifts. DF pointed out that if people were just going to give us money-lets think about just taking the cash and putting it toward DVC!!! :cool1: WoooHooo! Don't have to tell me twice or try to sell me on that idea!!! DF also pointed out that if we were going to the DHR that and we didn't use all the money on the card we would be forced to buy more stuff that we don't have room for. I hear him there too...We are busting out of our apartment as it is! :rotfl: (Yes, time to more into a house-but waiting until we are married to square that away...Makes the paperwork easier!)

We also considered a Wishes wedding. This is in part b/c my mom likes to push the idea that if we have more people we would get more gifts and how she wants this person there and that person...Oh and don't forget the latest-I want everyone to see you in your dress...Show them the pictures! So, DF and I set out to take a look at the DFTW website and quickly nixed that idea as well. Yes, we could invite more people, but honestly-who would come and how much more drama would that cause? Second. For everything we want we would be held to that minimum and after looking at others BEOs an Escape was still the way to go for us. We might add enhancements on and yes they will cost money-but we can figure out the "reception" stuff and look for either a restaurant or something with a small food & beverage minimum that would work for a total of 10 people.

I relayed this to my mother this morning and once she saw that the Wishes al a carte was going to cost us WAY more than we needed or wanted she excepted that we were staying with an 8 person guest list and that was that. Period. Really it was just a matter of putting it in terms of dollars and cents. :teacher: So, we're good there. (However, my enhancements might put us over the $12,000 minimum anyway...but that would include my dress, shoes, tuxes etc as well)

Mom has asked that we enlighten my father so that he doesn't feel as though we are leaving anyone out...Once he sees the cost he'll get it too.

Talking about receptions...I'm at a loss. I just looked on Mouse Weddings and one suggestion on there was V&A Chef's Table. The table holds up to 10 people (perfect) They create (or we create ) a menu and then we get to sample stuff as we go along. Sounds like a cool idea-something that people will definitely remember...However, that comes with a cost of $150/person BEFORE wine pairings. Then the cost goes up to $250/person. Hmmm...Nope too much...Unless there aren't any other cool options.

I have to interject...I need a job...Job = extra cool stuff at the wedding!!! :wizard:

We've talked about fireworks options. We've talked about having a lunch reception instead. Really the reception thing is just up in the air. Who knows. I'm putting that on the "Good Thing I've Got Time List." :thumbsup2

DF and I have also talked about the extra pixie dust that we want our guests to enjoy. We don't know if our families are staying at the world for any length of time or if they will have park passes...So, we've come up with a list of things that we would like to do for our guests-that don't require park admission...Should $$$ allow...and even some of it we've worked into our Disney Visa Rewards Points as well as saving disney dollars and extra saving along the way.

This list includes:

the day before the wedding...
-Golf for the guys
-Afternoon Tea for the girls
-HDDR dinner

We feel that these things are things will provide some pixie dust and that our guests will not feel as though they will have to have park passes if they choose to just fly in and fly out for the wedding. That itinerary will be better tailored once we get closer. (like 180 days closer to make ADRs for things)

So, I think we've made progress on a bunch of different things...Small steps at least.

I'm still trying to figure out how to add:
-Major Domo (My mom thought this would be cool but it was quickly nixed b/c of the price
-Justify lining the aisle with rose petals (I read somewhere that that is $300 :scared1:...but I really want them  So, who knows)
-Videography...another one of those...Do I get it or no. So far we are at no just b/c of cost and whether or not we will really watch it again or if it will just sit in the video cabinet. I don't know. :confused3

I think those are the 3 things on my wish list.

I'm still waiting to hear about #1 choice job. Keep sending the pixie dust. Job = more wedding stuff!!! :wizard: Thanks :)

Where did you read $300 for the petals down the aisle?? I think Lurkyloo paid $50 for hers and she had heaps (may have been a short aisle) and someone else paid $75 for aisle petals - but they did specify that it was only a light amount.

If we only end up with around 15 people I'm going to go back to considering an escape wedding. It does seem like a lot less hassle, but at the moment I'm estimating 30 people...

I didn't know that about the honeymoon registry... That's a real shame, I would have figured it was exactly the same as just getting a gift card... Now I'm not so sure if I want it either...

I luckily have a good job, but I haven't started putting any money away yet :rolleyes1 I need to put $1000 a month away to make sure I've got the $20 000 I need by the wedding... hehe, opps. :scared: I better start soon, or the monthly amount is just going to keep getting bigger. :rotfl:

Stupid money... I wonder if DFTW would accept a barter type scheme...

I think the difference is that she used them for an aisle and I want to line the aisle of the WP with them. I don't know where I got the amount-someone's PJ or BEO on here tho. I'll see if I can find it...

We couldn't come up with 20-25 people that we would want there :rotfl: Or for that matter 20-25 people that would show up. Don't get me wrong, we have friends and family...but don't want the drama. We figure there are really only 2 people that matter DF & Me. It's important to us to have immediate family there, but that's it.

Definitely a shame. Good pick up on DF's part though :thumbsup2 I checked it on the DHR website. The FAQ link is on the bottom of their pages. HTH's

I know what you mean though. We have a good savings put away & our change savings is growing...but I'd like to put away $ per check!-I do...but I'd like to put more than $10/check away :rotfl: So far my tea party is paid for!

Stupid money... I wonder if DFTW would accept a barter type scheme...
WILL WORK FOR DISNEY WEDDING!!! :wizard:

:wizard:

Well, I shouldn't stress and agonize over the whole job situation....SO, I figured what better thing to agonize over than my wedding LOL :rotfl:

The big debate is my hair. At first, mom wanted it down and I wanted it up. With the heat-if the back of my neck gets too warm I get violently ill. I'm NOT getting sick on my wedding day! Mom agrees and we deal with it.

THEN we buy the dress. Hmmm... *sigh* Hair up seems to be too much. Call mom. This conversation goes something like
Me: So, I was thinking about my hair and this dress.
Mom: Yeah me too.
Me: I'm not sure I should wear it all up. I feel naked. It doesn't feel right.
Mom: Yeah. I think it would look better down.
Me: I don't want it all down. How about 1/2 up 1/2 down? That way it will frame the tiara some.
Mom: Sounds good.

Now, I bought the tiara at least 2 years ago. Now, I'm not so certain I want to wear the tiara. :rolleyes1 But I love the tiara...OH THE DECISIONS!

So, on the quest to find the perfect hairstyle. I have naturally curly hair that is in short a pain in the you know what. Here is what I found.

What do you think???

I love the wave in the front. My hair will do this on its own for the most part...

With this texture

My hair is a little past shoulder length now. With 1.5 years to grow I should be ok length wise...Now where would I put my veil???

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Oh I like those hairstyles! Very nice. 1.5 years is plenty of time! Hmm...the veil is tricky. Maybe over the bump of 1/2 up, 1/2 down
